Enjoyed todays game interesting line up I wonder if this is how we are going to setup this season.
Only concern Shamrock Rovers looked very young and no where near as strong as the tic. Does anyone know if this was there first team. Otherwise Hendry looked strong, We cannot afford to sell Teirney, Forrest looked sharp and Ntcham will have to perform at his top level to keep out Mcginn
For the second team Sinclair looked back to his best, Kouassi looked good along with Walsh. Morgan fantastic first goal for us. Ralston was weak at times to easily knocked off the ball and Miller is never a fullback he is a number 10 and we have lots of those. No Griffiths or Devries wonder if any of those are off.

Agree1 Disagree1

Think Shamrock played a league game last night so i suspect it was there youngsters.

Thanks for the match details joe, i ment to be there too but work commitments didn’t allow, how was the attendance and atmosphere?

Mcginn before Olly Bhoy. Your havin a laff mate.

07 Jul 2018 22:32:13
Was thinking the exact same mate, McGinn isn't good enough to break in2 our starting 11, which is why this deal is baffling to me.

{Ed007's Note - So you want Scott Brown or Ntcham replaced?}

07 Jul 2018 22:43:49
No ed, I think those 2 are the perfect pair in the middle for us "this" season, we all know broony is eventually not going to play to his own high standards. But Celtic shouldn't be bringing in his replacement who is well below SB standard and saying "Aye this boy has good potential, eventually he might be as good as scott". They should be going out and spending proper money on a guy who is going to fill the void right away, I know that's a tough ask, but money talks. If u spend well it will be noticed, that's my thinking, I know some might disagree because of McGinns connection to Celtic, but you can't go about signing players on sentimental values.

{Ed007's Note - McGinn's replacing Armstrong in the squad, we'll make a profit on it and McGinn is a better player than Scott Brown was at that age and is a better technical player than Brown ever has been or ever will be.
Do you think we shouldn't plan for the future, do you think we should have signed Edouard because he isn't going to get in the team over Dembele?
What void should we be signing to fill, the void of who plays if Brown or Ntcham are injured or need a rest, isn't that what we're doing?
McGinn's connection is nothing to do with it, do you think Rodgers said to sign him because he's a Celtic supporter and would be a dream come true for the lad or did he see the best CM in Scotland outside Celtic and decide to sign him.
2/3 years ago the majority of Celtic fans wanted a 31-year old Brown sold as his legs had gone and he wasn't that good anyway, he's 33 and his legs might go in the next couple of years, we've now got his long term replacement, in the next 5 years McGinn will become the best CDM in Scotland since Paul Lambert.}

That's a real BOLD statement ed. I honestly hope you are right mate, I really do. I just haven't been that impressed by McGinn over the season, I know this sounds weird, but anytime I've watched the boy he only steps up against Celtic or rangers, I actually think mcgeough was the better of the 2, so did the hibs supporters.

{Ed007's Note - Hibs fans are mostly morons, anyone that believes that The Proclaimers are brother and not just 2 guys done up to look like each other are for the watching. McGinn has shown his quality against us this season, more than Brown ever did.
Did the Hibs fans mention they're totally different players, it's like comparing Brown to Rogic.}

What is it with some fans? How is they can be so certain that John McGinn isn't a suitable buy for Celtic . Surely Professional people like B R and his team of scouts know what they are looking for . No manager and no club get every buy right but surely we should be showing our confidence in double treble winner Brendan whether than talking our own nonsense.

08 Jul 2018 00:01:05
Chris I'm right there with u mate, I believe in Brendan and if he believes he can bring McGinn on then I support that, I was merely just putting across my point that I haven't been that impressed by the boy and I'm a bit underwhelmed by our pursuit of him. I'm more excited by sèeing what Morgan can do more than I am mcginn (I know they play different positions)

08 Jul 2018 00:11:19
Am out still can't get how some of our fans can't see it. Baffling.

08 Jul 2018 09:20:22
The Proclaimers are identical twin brothers.
Maybe I am still recovering from last night and your point went over my head (not hard as I am 5' 2")
Rest of you comments are spot on though.

{Ed007's Note - Can you prove that, though? The Righteous Brothers and The Doobie Brothers weren't really brothers, there's a band called Scissor Sisters that are definitely not related. The Proclaimers are just another manufactured 80's pop band, because they use the same second name doesn't mean they're related, loads of musicians change their name to suit their act.}

De Vries has been told he's free to leave.

08 Jul 2018 12:00:55
I think part of the appeal with Mcginn that some people may be missing here that BR obviously doesn't is a big part of the appeal with this lad is what he does when he don't have the ball. His workrate and his desire to get it back are immense and his biggest attributes for me also his engine will go all day without breaking down. Add to that passing ability/ keeping the ball a fierce tackler and a few goals here and there then for the money we have to pay in today's crazy markets it really is a given. No?

08 Jul 2018 14:38:47
McGinn is without a doubt celtic quality.

My Issue is that we don't splurge the cash.

so I really think we need to nail down defensive issues before we spend any more money on midfielders.

we have Brown, Allan, Ntcham, Eboue, Rogic, Sinclair, Roberts?, Forest, McGregor, Morgan, Hayes, Bendu, Christie all capable of doing a turn in the spl.

Lustig getting lots of stick, Gamboa doesn't seem good, Boyata either Brilliant, Bombscare or Away depending on whos post you read, Ajer good lacking experience, Simo can't play on plastic/ not rated. Tierney - attracting interest (dont think he's going anywhere) but no cover. Commper? Really? So defence needs sorted first - then buy whomever you want in midfield.

{Ed007's Note - Out of the players you've listed there Roberts and Allan won't be here and how many of them can play in the 2 CDM spots, Brown, Ntcham, Eboue and McGregor can cover but none of the rest can do it. What happens if, God forbid, big Ntcham or Brown breaks his leg like Hayes did last season? If either of them got injured we'd be down to the bare bones in there with Armstrong having left.
It's all well and good saying Rodgers should be concentrating on sorting the defence (and I have no doubts he is working on that) but sometimes a situation forces your hand, we either sign McGinn now or lose him to England and in two years time fans could moan about the board missing out or Lawwell's penny pinching like happened with McCarthy. The ideal situation for everyone imo would have been in McGinn had 2 years left on his deal but he doesn't and Celtic know they need to move now.
Just because it's the only deal being spoke about doesn't mean it's the only deal being worked on.}
