After Sunday, more like it Celtic, i nipped up to a mate in Nairn. Was in the pub talking to some Aberdeen fans and the gossip was McKenna to us, Christie to them plus 2m. Sticking point seems to be Christie who would rather head south. Seems strange with him getting game time but you never know.

fgjmarktwo

1.) 09 Oct 2018 18:59:04
Christie + 2 mil?
Mckenna is worth a punt but not for that amount.

2.) 09 Oct 2018 21:03:39
cannot see that happening when they've turn down bits of more than 6 million for him.
Christie valued at more that 4 million?

3.) 09 Oct 2018 21:59:13
Am I Christie’s only fan? Is there no one else who thinks he could do a job for us? Strikes me he could play as CAM, RW or dare I say it as second striker if we get hard up (which may happen)

4.) 09 Oct 2018 22:07:48
I reckon he'll get a few games between now and January, November December are usually mental so we'll need to use almost everyone in the squad at some point, the way we pick up injuries means we need a good squad to call upon.

5.) 10 Oct 2018 07:08:59
Your not the only one Davie. I like him. He can player in a few position like you said. And hrs got a bit of flair and grit which is hard to come by.

6.) 10 Oct 2018 07:29:30
Davie I like him aswell but I think his chance might be gone to be honest.

7.) 10 Oct 2018 20:26:11
Think you could be right Kev, wouldn’t be surprised to see him really kick on somewhere else.

8.) 12 Oct 2018 01:27:55
Ryan Christie, for the last two years, has been Aberdeen’s version of Patrick Roberts at Celtic.

A talented fast paced right Winger who can run at defenders and leave them skinned. A goal scorer and regular goal assist.

They sorely miss him.

He needs full games at CFC in his preferred position. Not where BR wants to put him.

20 Sep 2018 16:59:20
So, what Celtic will turn up tonight? I would hope scratch that, i pray it is the one that plays at a high tempo. If we play Eddy as a line leader we will get sticky and messy, he always drifts left and blocks runners, Is Forrest guaranteed a start as he's been less than average for a few games?

So many questions and the seasons barely started.

fgjmarktwo

1.) 20 Sep 2018 19:21:23
Only a matter of time until Bitton appears again.

2.) 21 Sep 2018 10:40:19
Bitton. there's a forgotten man. What's the story with him? Injury?

03 Jul 2018 09:43:11
Harry Wilson? No idea who he is but a sevconian told me he is heading to Celtic? He seemingly got the news out of sevco? Go figure.

1.) 03 Jul 2018 10:15:06
Was doing the rounds last night GJ was ment to have been Stevies first dream signing until he realised he had no money.

2.) 03 Jul 2018 11:29:59
A quality young player GJ. Was playing as a striker for Hull but used to be a winger. Where would he fit in? A front three perhaps?

22 Jun 2018 20:22:09
So it looks like Armstrong is off to Southampton for 7m, pretty good business with a year left and January looming. Hope he does well as you could never fault his effort, but he ain't VVD or Victor.

A good steady player who will do well for the Saints.

fgjmarktwo

1.) 22 Jun 2018 20:36:26
Great piece of business by Lawell, what a job he’s done when it comes to getting money for players.

Hopefully we will see some incoming signings soon.

2.) 22 Jun 2018 21:01:05
Not sure if Dundee Utd get a cut? If so I heard it’s 20%.

3.) 22 Jun 2018 22:13:44
We seem to be Southampton's feeder club as that is the fourth player we have sold them in recent years.
Not complaining as we get decent cash and sell-on bonuses, but is it sheer coincidence that we supply them with so much talent?

4.) 22 Jun 2018 23:45:16
Even if Dundee have a wee cut we should have 5m+ to play with for defense.

5.) 22 Jun 2018 23:51:06
As far as I am aware he was not a Celtic fan if so I can't blame him for wanting to try something new good luck to him Good business from us also Even if some players see us as a stepping stone as long as we don't make a loss and he contributes to the team its a win win situation IMO.

6.) 23 Jun 2018 10:23:06
heard it was 4 mill with add ons.

7.) 23 Jun 2018 18:23:26
Maybe because they're not ignorant enough to ignore the Scottish game. A lot of English say anyone can look good in this league but there's been plenty that has came up here and found it hard but down well down south? And if you're going to raid any club up here then we are the one with all the talent.

13 May 2018 09:35:43
Caught a bit of gossip from Embra, McGinn to Celtic for 2.5m plus Allen and add ons. Hibs also want a loan deal on a younger player. Hibs fan so who knows.

fgjmarktwo

1.) 13 May 2018 10:41:23
Kouassi, Miller or Henderson maybe?

2.) 13 May 2018 11:08:14
Kouassi!

3.) 13 May 2018 11:14:53
Oh and the Hibs boys fancy a 6-0 v sevco! What a laugh if they got three inside 60-70 minutes!

4.) 13 May 2018 17:49:34
Give them £2m, Allan and Hayes plus Christie on loan .

5.) 13 May 2018 19:51:57
i just spoke to John's girlfriends granddad there in the pub, there has been no offer off Celtic yet, but it would be more than welcomed.

6.) 16 May 2018 23:53:00
Would take £3m and Alan.

The King is dead. As a club we have had legion of players we have worshipped, adored and watched as they put teams to the sword. Further back, than i suspect any of us were born, Gallacher, Quinn Thomson. Evans and Tully the list goes on and on.

Billy McNeill was different though.

Never a silky ball playing centre back. Never the style of previous heroes. But, like the true Legends of our club, he knew what it meant to us to wear the Hoops. he knew the commitment, the blood sweat and tears required to wear the shirt. And we knew he knew, we saw it. Some of us were lucky enough to see it in the flesh, chest puffed out standing like the giant he was lifting trophy after trophy.

Like the rest of the Lions, he was humble to the point of you felt like giving him a shake to let him know how much we, as a support, revered this man and his team mates. Not the first Scottish, or even the first British winners of the big cup also the first Northern European club. he was the leader of a team who re shaped the game. They busted cattenacio, they said it couldn't be done. But they did it in style, and then some. You want iconic? Holding the cup aloft in Lisbon. Look at him, like a God.

I am sitting here with tears blinding me, i unashamedly admit it. This Man means so much to my generation of Celts, and that's even without the Centenary season. The only saving grace is our King is not suffering. He is at rest and truly in a better place.

Oh Captain my Captain.

You’ve brought a tear to my eye FGJ.

5.) 23 Apr 2019 21:43:14
It's a sad day for our club but even sadder for his family and friends. A born leader. R. I. P cesar hail hail🍀.

6.) 23 Apr 2019 23:49:44
First saw him in 1961 when we lost 2-3 to Third Lanark!
Loved your post and I read it with a lump in my throat as I went back to pee flooded terraces, wooden rattles, waving scarves, cold pies and lukewarm bovril. the Jungle chanting "There's only one King Billy that's McNeill.
The team doing everything but score then. This big man strolls up for a corner and, like a salmon leaping the falls, powers in a header and Big Jock, the Team, and the Fans all calm down.
He needed big pockets for the number of attackers who resided there during games.
One of a kind who was chosen by Destiny.

7.) 24 Apr 2019 17:13:47
Can I just the Billy Mc Neil that I first saw in 1965 was a brilliant player, rarely had a bad game . All the lions were that, we didn't fully appreciate what we had then . But as a leader of men there was no comparison . He was the number 1 . He was the first Northern European to lead his club to win the big one European Cup . Apart from that as Captain &! manager Billie led Celtic to 30 more triumphs, a total never matched by anyone else in the game . So Billie was my number 1 and the number 1 in World Football, God Bless Billie RIP Hail. Hail.

14 Apr 2019 13:23:17
So a Lenny team then. Dangerous game this, i asume McLennen will press Jozo and that lump of wood will go on Kris, we need to be switched on from minute one. Nice early passes to Eddy, his feet foe a change, and get Christie and McGregor to him quickly.

If we are on it we should win but McInnes is having a go here.

Thanks for the debate guys. Leon. im 59 so have seen us dominate and have a Euro team that was feared. I also had to endure the gloating and lunacy of the murray years, but we have had our revenge for that mate. In fact we still laugh at them.

Someone said a few good years in Europe. mally? . I see what you mean but i was more suggesting a team who would consistently be able to hold their own in the CL. More sustainable with younger players and a few big money buys.

Of course it all depends on who is appointed.

fgjmarktwo

1.) 24 Mar 2019 16:32:12
Green Jedi I would suggest that if we were able to put a team together who could hold their own in the Champions League then this team would also dominate on the domestic front. Best of both world mate 👍🏻🍀.

2.) 24 Mar 2019 16:41:09
Some supporters priorities are different, which is fair enough.
Im not a big fan of european football especially in the current format. I want to compete and have a chance to win trophies, as it stands, that's not possible in europe, so I lose interest.
I suppose its a bit like fans of other clubs in Scotland, who support their team but have very little chance of success. Hat off to them.

3.) 24 Mar 2019 18:15:46
I think we would all like a few buys &plenty of quality youngsters so that we could have consistent success in Europe . That would be great but we can't afford a few big money buys, £20 m is now only buying an average player for a top league player . A £20m player on his own won't put fear in any European opposition . Wages for a £20m player would change our whole wage structure meaning our players would have to get substantial pay rises . Three or four of these big money buys would leave our funds very low.

4.) 24 Mar 2019 20:13:36
Gentlemen, and ladies. in order for us to play at any level in Europe
we need to be playing at a higher level at home and let's face it every team we play now has a ten man defence. we will never progress in europe unless we move to a better league. but for now let us do 10iar and ram it down the orcs throats for all the cheating, corrupt years they imposed on us and we can hold our heads high and say. we did it our way THE CELTIC WAY. with honesty and integrity. hail hail.

5.) 25 Mar 2019 12:45:32
Fgj a know what your saying success in Europe would be great. but it may be shallow but if we get the 9 and are tooling up for 10 i think most would sacrifice Europe. even teams who've spent a helluva lot more than us have not made any progress in Europe.

6.) 25 Mar 2019 19:47:50
I think the problem is that the powers that be are progressively excluding more teams from Europe every year. We may already have played our last game in the big cup and if so, they can shove it up their elite holes. I don’t see any point in wasting 20-30 million on players who would be lucky to get on the bench for the big boys and as OMC points out, alter the wage structure which could put us in a precarious financial situation. The best we can do is, stay sustainable, try and keep as close as we can to the elite and wait to see if they all start going bust, which they might.

24 Mar 2019 11:40:31
So here's a question, is the whole ten in a row circus becoming a millstone round our neck? I feel there is a danger this will dominate far too many fans thoughts, probably starting next week. Rodgers left at a nightmare time, games to come and cup ties, but the squad he left has added to a core of players who just don't need.

In a few weeks we will be looking for a new manager, actually i hope we would have some people in mind, this has to impact on players out surely? Any new boss would have to assess the squad, and given the ludicrous time our season starts now, that's a headache. There is also the purchase of players, maybe more of a problem than selling.

If we win the league, never mind the treble, the pressure on the team and new boss would be intense. This job will not be for anyone. This job will require a certain type who can handle the intensity from the stands, and that's before our slanted press are even a factor. But the worst of all is he will have to handle a section of our support who seem to think ten is a walk in the park, a stroll. It will not be. This will be the same people who groan at every misplaced pass, or at anything really. I believe this ten in a row thing fuels it.

I ask this. let's say we appoint an innovative young coach with good connections abroad. A guy who has us passing and moving the way most Euro teams play at Celtic Park, even the part timers. A coach who plays young players with no fear, who can get results like Ajax v Real. A guy who moves us up the ladder in Euro terms. There might be a bloody nose domestically and ten would be over. But, we would have a team to compete, really compete, in Europe.

Would you be happy swapping ten in a row? Considering we done it first and teams have way more than that now, i would. In a heartbeat.

fgjmarktwo

1.) 24 Mar 2019 13:17:53
If we have a team to do anything in Europe we won't have to worry about domestic success that would take care of itself. Do think the 10iar is a bit of a burden similar to the invincible run.

2.) 24 Mar 2019 13:33:38
10IAR is meaningless without success in Europe, it just emphasises how poor the opposition in Scotland is.

3.) 24 Mar 2019 13:51:59
I am guessing the the guy posting and the comments above are from a younger generation who have been spoiled with constant success.
If you seen their 9 in a row, I bet you would all want 10 in a row as much as me.
I still feel the only way they will be punished properly for cheating, will be if Celtic win 10 in a row.
Winning the 10 is a once in a lifetime opportunity. It is not meaningless, just enjoy the ride, its only another 2 years, then our club will change route to suit our younger fans.
As i mentioned before there is not a rush to change things, its only 2 years and I promise when you look back in years to come, it will be the best 2 years you will ever remember in watching Celtic Football Club.

4.) 24 Mar 2019 13:55:10
10iar is the holy grail for me and we should go all out to secure it as early as possible.

5.) 24 Mar 2019 14:08:22
Whatever happens in Europe is a bonus for me. Domestic dominance year after year is a joy after living thru their 9 in a row and EBT years. Under BR in Europe we where batterd playing his system and he wouldn't change his way. Im hoping for 10 in a row which will be the best 50th birthday present I will ever get.

6.) 24 Mar 2019 15:15:05
If we compete in Europe then we'll dominate on the domestic front we're 2 years from achieving something that will probably never be equalled and your willing to sacrifice it for a couole of decent euro results without actually winning a euro cup . not for me.

7.) 24 Mar 2019 16:02:39
10IAR will become more and more like the unbeaten run. It'll weigh heavy on everyone involved at the club the closer it gets but that's the price you pay to be a legend.

8.) 24 Mar 2019 16:08:36
I get what the original poster is getting at with progression in Europe but for me at the minute with Scotland's standing in Europe both need to go hand in hand we need to dominate at home to qualify for the champions League and that's where our progress will be judged in the long term.

9.) 24 Mar 2019 18:19:46
The fact 10IAR weighs heavy emphasise's how important it is to some people - myself included.
the chance of improvement will always be there, but to be the only team to reach the 10IAR marker is bragging rights for a long time and for me draw a definitively line on the 90's heartache. I grew up win the 90's on stories of Celtic greatness all the time enduring the Murray years and arrogance.

And another point - winning the league is the only way of having a chance at CL qualification, so 10 IAR and beyond is essential i.

10.) 24 Mar 2019 19:08:35
How could 10 in a row be meaningless . 10 in a row will be a magnificent achievement, I was lucky enough to be around for the winning of the European Cup in 1967 and I thought it would be the first of many . However our greatest ever Manager wrecked our chances in 1970 by for some strange reason, only known to him, he dropped George Connolly for the final . Our three men mid field completely destroyed Leeds much vaunted in semi-final but in the final Bertie and Bobbie hardly touched the ball, but we all got over the disappointment because we had our whole lives to win many more European Cups .
People talk about European success, what are they on about, qualifying for Champions League stage, rubbish that's nothing, last 16, really not success, the Celtic I knew could get to 2 finals in 3 yrs, now that's what I call success, anything else is only going through the motions of European Football, give me continuous success in domestic football. Every club is rated by their domestic achievements, EuropeanFootball is show-time, owners laundering their dirty money and showing they can buy the best . That's not why Celtic were founded.

11.) 24 Mar 2019 19:30:23
I love the idea of us breaking another record with 10 in a row but it does not dominate my thoughts. I want us to win the league first and foremost. Of course 10 in a row, 11 in a row will be a result but I just look at each game/ competition as it comes up.

12.) 25 Mar 2019 06:19:03
10 in a row will, if it happens be an amazing achievement. I echo the thoughts of above. During the minty years listening to the smarminess of it all and now knowing it was a house of cards. They financially cheated their way to it. For us to beat it on a solid financial footing will never be equalled.

13.) 27 Mar 2019 18:10:00
10 in a row is only the first stop on our way to 13 in a row which will be #55. I pay my season ticket for domestic dominance which always comes first Europe is an extra.

27 Feb 2019 17:04:10
Right. We like to use the term the 'Celtic Family'. Well the fact is a guy has came into our family, our HOUSE, and, despite declaring undying love, has just walked away at quite possibly the worst time. We all thought he was here for the long haul, a lifetime love affair like the rest of us. But that's over.

Lennon had his critics during his tenure at Celtic, lots of it fair, but right now we are lucky to have him. We need to galvanise and unite. We needed someone who knew the club and the way it operates. Someone who can show them the medals, someone who NEVER shirked from any intimidation, a boss who, if you do your job, will have your back. Because your a Celtic player. BR was not Celtic, no player or manager will ever be, WE are Celtic.

The news from yesterday will fire hertz up, and no doubt the officials will seize the chance to stuff one up us. This will be a battle. We know who loves a battle? Whatever eleven starts, and subs if any are used, need to know the support will never leave for a better, bigger, richer club. This is our club and we are Celtic.

Lets get right behind this team till the end of the season, they deserve it for some of the days they have given us. The haters smell blood, let's not help them.

fgjmarktwo

1.) 27 Feb 2019 17:51:45
Great post mate.

This is the time for everyone to get behind the team to rally and encourage the bhoys over the coming weeks.

Lots of vocal encouragement in the right manner.

Your last comment. "they deserve it" is absolutely spot on.

Let's give them a huge show of support starting tonight and showing EVERYONE watching what Celtic is all about and means to true fans.

COYBIG.

If your info is genuine, first hand and accurate, I can see the sense in the post. On McGinn, did he not fancy the challenge of winning a place in the team as reported and gossiped? One fact we do know is we matched the offer, so he went to Villa for more money or a guaranteed start, hardly the action of a Celtic fan with a chance of wearing the shirt?

Schar i first heard of on here, never seen him linked officially but a good player with a solid WC behind him. Maybe he was approached but waited till after the WC for better options, and that's what he got.

Never heard of the other guy, so no comment.

What really needs to happen here is someone has to come clean. We have been sold on the idea we have a manager who can deliver what we want. Up until this transfer window he has done exactly that. If promises were made and renegade, tell us. If the reasoning is sound i would be sure we could accept it.

One more thing, to the people who still equate what we do with the team from Govan, stop it. What they spend who cares? The only way they affect us if the CB's they bought are decent, because if they are Congerton needs to answer some questions given we are looking for one. Y'know what he needs to answer some questions anyway.
