If the manager wants to play 3 at the back would it not be better having maeda down one side as he'll work his socks off and enneacho or Kenny up top.

I reckon Maeda will be sold in January and not sure he has the nous to play that role.
Obviously he is more than capable of getting up and down the park but I am not sure he has the tactical awareness required.
