There are things that guy could do with a football on his way to pick up his pension that would be better that the pros of the next generation of footballer's. He is one of my all time favourite players.
Don't wear hats but I'd buy and eat it :)

Agree1 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I'd have Maradona just in front of him as a better all round player but for me Ronaldinho is THE most skillful player ever to play the game. Just imagine a front two of Ronaldinho and Batistuta? Here's a 22 mins video to crack one off over before bedtime buddy. (tmi)

I'd take a 36 year old Ronaldinho over a 34 year old Ibrahimovic.}

20 Jun 2016 00:21:22
Watching and enjoying it :)
Why do the guys that make these cracking videos never pick a decent tune!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - They might need to be careful with copyright and that, I've got the sound down anyway in case the wife hears me! Why not try making your own, I'd love to be able to do it.}

20 Jun 2016 00:40:32
Outstanding. That's only his twilight highlights as well. He is one of those players that makes you do that weird laugh. those involuntary ones that don't sound like a human made them.

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - He's one of the modern so called superstars that was worth the admission fee alone and he done it all with a smile. A truly outstanding and very, very special player who I doubt we'll ever see the likes of again.}

20 Jun 2016 01:15:07
Absolutely superb ED! What a player that guy was! Never forget his goal against Chelsea were he sort of toebashed it from about 20 yards from a standing position! Can't remember what year but the Chelsea players just looked on in awe! Fantastic player! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ».

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - 2005 it's showing up as - was 30 ;(

20 Jun 2016 01:28:18
Just watched it there again mate! What a finish. yeh I doubt we'll see a player like him again any time soon! Just made the game look so easy. a pleasure to watch someone like that in action.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 06:21:34
Bar Henke, Ronaldinho is my favourite ever player. What an entertainer and as has been said, THE most skilful player ever. I would take a 36 year old 'Nibbler' over ANY player this summer. I'm sure even just watching him now would be a joy, it wouldn't matter even once our European campaign was over and we had to return to the 'monotony' of SPFL football as many see it, this player would put on something worth watching all by himself. I said the same about Del Piero a couple seasons back and he doesn't come close to Ronnie.

Agree0 Disagree2

20 Jun 2016 07:56:16
The closest we have to him now at the top level is probably Neymar in terms of skills that can wow the crowd but he doesn't have that likable personality which made Ronaldinho transcend loyalty/ allegiance to other teams. As Ed mentioned, there was something special about watching a guy who was that good doing it with a smile on his face and often sacrificing his statistics to go back and beat his man again.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2016 00:47:45
Maradonna was definitely a more rounded footballer .
In fact he was too rounded but amazingly could cover the ground .
Ronaldinho was a very exciting player and excited the crowds for years .
I don't think we have anyone like him and the wee Argentinian playing now and maybe never again as the bloody coaches, coach individual skills out of them so they can fit into his structured team plan.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 21:01:07
Seen some posts about the games in the Euro's but my big gripe is with some games being of not great quality or excitement, the English commentators make it ten times worse, not by their "little Engerland" mentality, that is a given, but everyone of them is so bl%%dy BORING, their voices put me to sleep.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed007's Note - Clive Tyldesley makes me want to smash up the TV as soon as I hear him.}

19 Jun 2016 21:53:49
Timalloy i can't remember a competition like world cup or euros where I have been glued to TV since I was 11 year old watching USA 94. Since then quality has gradually got worse. I agree what you say about commentators. Its as if they are trying to be John Motson and are even more irritating.

France are a shadow of the team they used to be and Germany these days are a team that's got players born allover the world with virtually no german blood links.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 22:56:59
Timalloy a few times av had to turn off the commentary n put talk sport on. Don't get me started on Mr nice guy Lineker he's as big a dick as ul get on tv. A can only watch the half time stuff on itv because they've got that mad man billic on.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Jun 2016 00:05:44
I've felt the same about this tournament entertainment wise. There are a lot of young attacking players in every squad that haven't quite found their feet. It's missing some great older players that haven't made the cut, retired or just a bit dodgy if your the host nation ;)
Where are the early goals or high scores? The correct score comp must be humped!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Every time an international tournament comes around it's worse than the last one and I really can't understand why people still take any great interest in them. Money has ruined the World Cup and Euros the way it's ruined everything else in football, how else can you explain Carlsberg getting round the ban on advertising alcohol in France by having their adverts saying 'Probably' in the same colours and font as their logo?}

20 Jun 2016 10:28:23
The games have been very ordinary and severely lacking in skill, flair and class. The amount of shots that fly over the bar is worse than primary school football and many of the super-stars of each country seem jaded after long seasons The English commentators are by far the most arrogant and patronising you could find with a 'public school' language and terminology that is alien to the common man and it seems mandatory that they choose a moron or buffoon of an ex-player to accompany their drivel.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 16:24:45
There seems to be a lot of people worrying about the lack of transfer activity due to the upcoming qualifiers but I'd like to stress that the squad that we currently have got to the knockout round last season and should have got past MalmΓΆ so there's not as much of a rush as some people think. One or two key players SHOULD see us safely through and then maybe we can pick up another couple of higher profile players.

Believable2 Unbelievable1

19 Jun 2016 16:44:09
Well Said Kevbhoy, no need for panic, let Rodgers do his thing, in his own way and time, we should be able to come through the first couple of rounds if only on players fear factor and will to make an impression.

19 Jun 2016 18:05:44
Is the draw tomorrow morning?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - Yes mate at 11 a.m.}

19 Jun 2016 18:34:02
Do u know any the teams we could get ED? I heard there's a few tricky ones even in our first draw!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Teams in green will need to get past their 1st Qualifying Round in order to face us.

CL

19 Jun 2016 18:47:35
Ta Ed. Was reading that Norrkoping and Ferencvaros are about as difficult as the first round will get. We should be ok. I'd like to see a couple of players settled for the next rounds though. Then obviously if we do qualify properly hopefully push the boat out for one or two 'marquee' players as kev says.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - We live in hope mate.}

19 Jun 2016 18:48:56
Do u have a list of teams Celtic could get in the draw? I've tried on the uefa website but can't find anything.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Never mind bloody UEFA websites, you'll get everything you need except porn on here. :=D

19 Jun 2016 19:55:50
Haha cheers ed.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

19 Jun 2016 20:01:21
Ed do you know if we are home or away first leg. If we drew crusaders and were to play 12th July away I think that would be crazy for fans to travel through Belfast.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'm not sure if the seeded teams are home first.}

19 Jun 2016 20:28:10
The Slovenian Swedish and Hungarian champs in there! Hope we don't get bloody one of them! Be just our luck to draw one of them wouldn't it! Sure we're playing the Slovenians in our pre season! U think there's anything to fear in there ED? Thanks for the info bud πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ».

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - There shouldn't be but going with our recent record and Rodgers record in Europe (P.18, W.6, D. 5, L.7, GF. 24, GA, 24, Win% of 33%) anything can happen. We should be fine for the first two qualifiers but I don't hold out much hope of reaching the CL group stages this season.}

19 Jun 2016 20:54:52
Got to agree with u ED, first 2 rounds we should hopefully scrape by! But if we don't buy a couple of quality players then I can see us missing out again! And I'm not even sure I would want to get in to it with the players we've got right now! Think it could end up really embarrassing!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - It probably will end up a mauling for us but most fans will accept getting pumped as long as the CL money is rolling in, even though historically we don't actually spend it on the team. Don't you enjoy seeing us getting rattled 6-1 at home to Barca? Before you answer that think of the money - it doesn't matter that everyone in Europe's laughing at us.}

19 Jun 2016 21:32:34
I for one would love to have CL football back in paradise ED but not with that team! If by chance we could invest in some quality to the team that would at least give us a chance to at least give it a go! And no I wouldn't want and don't like us getting pumped 6-1,but on there day Barcelona could beat any team in Europe by that scoreline at the nou camp. just hoping for a decent European campaign after what's happened the past 2 seasons if I'm being honest mate! But we'll just need to see what happens I guess lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Wasn't getting to the knock-out stages of the EL and unluckily going out to Inter Milan a decent European campaign?}

19 Jun 2016 21:39:17
Ed mate, you been @ the grumpy pills this weekend? Not like you!

Half the teams in the CL can get pumped like that off Barcelona!

I cannot see BR getting as short changed as previous managers he would surely factored this in?

But historically we have gambled and not spend enough wisely nor enough to feature.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'm just being realistic, the CL love in some people have is pathetic. What other team in the CL has Barcelona beat 6-1 in recent years?}

19 Jun 2016 22:07:04
Ed, Barcelona hold the record of six 5-0 victories in the CL

My train of thought is if you get pumped off a team that has circa Β£200 million of a front three then is they're any real shame in that

For me, we got pumped off Legia Warsaw 4-1 and barring to saves (pens) by FF it would have been 6! I was mortified then but so a suppose each to there own (y)

But agreed if we get there bloody spend it on the pitch!

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - So they've never beat any other team 6-1 then? My point is that supporters don't care if we're getting drubbed as long as it's the super-duper CL, they're happy to accept and more than happy to see Celtic getting beat as long as the pay day is enough.}

19 Jun 2016 22:14:53
The only way for the players to improve is to play at the highest level i. e. the CL. Its the prestige of the competition and the teams in it that sets it apart from the EL, not just the money. Our name deserves to be in there with the best. I'm confident we'll get there this year. Patrick Roberts could run riot against most of the teams we could face.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - That's a stupid argument with absolutely nothing to back it up, clubs spend billions of pounds disproving it. So why have Man City loaned us Denayer and Roberts? You're saying Roberts won't improve at Celtic because he isn't playing at the highest level, didn't you see Denayer improve before your very eyes when he was here?
Why do you think big clubs send young players to lower leagues and lower teams if they only improve playing a the highest level?
Players will improve if they are coached and trained right, chasing shadows in the CL isn't going to improve any player. NL's team became a CL after working their way up from the EL, I don't think anyone can disagree that playing in the EL - not the highest level - done NL's team a power of good.}

19 Jun 2016 22:32:33
Did they not pump Roma 6-1 last season mate? Not trying to be smart ED just saying that on there day they are more than capable of spanking any team! But kind of getting off track bud. yeh u could say the campaign when we were unlucky to not go through against inter was decent! But even the group stage of that was a struggle really. just hope there's better times ahead mate, and I'm sure all us fans are the same πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ».

Agree0 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - I don't know bud, that's why I was asking as I don't really watch any CL football. We all hope that there's better times ahead but just because we've appointed Rodgers is no guarantee although we're still miles ahead of anyone else domestically.
As I mentioned earlier I spent years reading Liverpool fans ripping Rodgers to shreds and laughing at the terrible mistakes he was making there, the guy lost the plot and his interviews were as cringey as they were bewildering and stupid. Now he's our manager his treatment of young players and his approach to the the youth system really concerns me. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Izaguirre as our starting LB next season.}

19 Jun 2016 22:40:21
Hapoel beer sheva and ferencvaros are the 2 teams you would want to avoid most in that first round but in saying that i would still fancy is to get past both if them if we did happen to draw them.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 23:08:18
So you're saying you don't want us to get to the CL for fear of getting a hiding? Would you rather have been beating teams like Elgin and Queens Park 4-0 and 5-0 the past few years than losing 6-1 in the Nou Camp? The only reason we get players like that is because Man City expect us to get to the CL. They aren't loaning us players to play in the SPL alone. Of course players can improve in the SPL and EL but if they want to reach the very top they have to be tested against the best in Europe in my opinion. I'd rather lose 6-1 to Barcelona than 3-1 to Molde. I know what result I found more of an embarrassment that's for sure.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - I'm saying the same thing I've been saying for years, the CL isn't the be all and end all of football and if more supporters could see that then it would be better for Scottish football as a whole.
Celtic getting beat by Molde goes under the radar, if Barcelona beat anyone 6-1 it's known all over the world. I'd bet there's more people in the world know we beat Barca and know we got pumped 6-1 than know we got beat by Molde. Do you think getting beat 6-1 by Barca is a good argument to get in any breakaway league or would losing 4-3 on aggregate to Inter look better on our CV?
Who at Man City told you they expect us to be in the CL and that's why they loan us players because that's the first I've heard of that? I suppose it's nothing to do with Peter Lawwell's son working there and the fact they knew their players were going to be looked after and treated right whilst picking up valuable experience. Not to mention as a club they have a lot of respect for RD and his methods.
So will Man City stop loaning us players if we don't qualify for the CL? No, they won't.}

20 Jun 2016 06:28:48
They didn't give us Denayer for a second season even though we did a good job with him. Went to Galatasary who had guaranteed CL football. I'm not saying the EL is a poor stage for us to play on, I just want us to be playing at the very highest level and against the very best.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 12:27:16
I understand that the window hasn't opened yet but I really hope we have decent additions lined up. Obviously we need to get rid of a few more and I totally agree with the players we have released so far, but in my opinion the Huns have recruited quite well so far with a bit of premier experience for very little outlay. If they get mariappa, it will strengthen them further. I understand even though they beat us in the semi that we still have a better squad than them and they needed to improve, but I would hate to think we have taken our eye of the ball after the appointment of the manager, and think we can now just turn up and improve without any decent additions.
On another point it seems they have a very easy start to their season while we have a very tough one, coming up to the "new old firm", I can see them with a good points tally going into it . ( good old computer has done them a favour with the fixtures again)

Believable2 Unbelievable2

19 Jun 2016 14:52:15
Ronaldo is a show boater nothing else, how can people even compare him to Messi? Messi creates and scores goals, especially when it matters in big games! RONALDO the best free kick taker ever haha scores 1 in every 90 he hits, 40 shots a game to score 1 goal and hardly any assists all season (what a team player this superstar is? ) greatest player ever? (according to RONALDO) Not even in the top 50 statistic wise, JOKE! The guy thinks he is bigger than his country (****erπŸ‘Œ) . big egos don't win tournaments i'm afraid good footballers do.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Ronaldo never needed HGH - that makes him a better player right away as he isn't a drugs cheat. Plus Ronaldo has done it in England and Spain whereas Messi has never done anything outside his comfort zone at Barca.
Ronaldo would instantly improve any team he plays for and Messi can only play in one system, that's why he's done nothing at international level either.
Neither of them can hold a candle to the likes of Maradona, Zidane or Ronaldinho.
If you think Messi is a team player then why did he force Barca to sell Alexis Sanchez because he was taking the limelight off him and has tried to do the same with Suarez? Anyone who upsets Messi or starts to outshine him will struggle to stay at Barca, his attitude is just as bad as Ronaldo's - which might be a side-effect of Messi's steroid abuse since childhood.}

19 Jun 2016 15:05:56
Wiser men than you have died in the loony bin . Sevco's only concern is to be able to field 11 and fill the bench.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jun 2016 20:25:23
I don't think that Ronaldo is anywhere near the quality of Messi.
Ronaldo only plays for himself, if Ronaldo has the option to pass or shoot, he nearly always shoots, whereas Messi is happy to set a teammate up if they are in a better position, maybe that's why Argentina have reached a World cup final, while Portugal despite having some talented players have never done so.
I admire him for sticking with Barcelona all his career, they paid for his treatment when he had his growth defect when he was young and he's paid them back with his loyalty.
How many times have we moaned about spending time and money developing young players only for them to jump ship at the first opportunity to move somewhere else. I think that it's great to see a player sticking with a club and not just chasing the cash the way that most of the mercenaries do these days.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed007's Note - He's stayed with Barca because of the money they pay him and how easily it is to avoid tax - a crime that Celtic supporters have been very vocal about in the past. More cheating in his perfect career eh? And that's without mentioning Dr Fuentes and his blood bags.}

19 Jun 2016 20:59:05
Why do players have to move, if he's playing at arguably the best club side in the world, he's winning things, and he plays well with the players around him, why would he want to take a step down. If Barcelona are paying him a salary that they and he are happy with, then good luck to them both.
Jimmy Johnston spent all his career at Celtic, we didn't criticise him for that.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Is that the same Jimmy Johnstone that played for San Jose Earthquakes, Sheffield Utd, Dundee and Shelbourne after he left Celtic?}

19 Jun 2016 21:48:39
Yes I should have said the main years of his career at Celtic, he played for these other clubs when his best days were behind him.
He played the best years of his career here though, which is what Messi is doing at Barcelona.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - So nothing at all like Jimmy Johnstone who didn't spend is entire career at Celtic like you said he did.}

20 Jun 2016 00:31:05
Surely when messi's talent starts to deteriorate then he'll be cast aside like many before him. Don't know if I'd say he's not chasing the cash. I'd like to see how much of a percentage wage rise he gets with every new deal he signs. It's pure obscene the way the wages are going. Someone said earlier about the international tournaments going downhill from USA 94. It can't be a coincidence with the money in football going the other direction.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 11:33:02
Anyone else been bored to death by the standard of play at the Euros so far?
Cheating, shirt pulling, body checking. Mind you. I was glad to see Ronaldo missing penalty. Could not stand another episode of him pulling off his shirt and lying down to receive the kisses and cuddles from his adoring servants/ sorry, team mates.
Brilliant talent but a non-team player and showboater imo.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

19 Jun 2016 12:11:30
There hasn't been a single game where I've been glued to the screen tbh. I've been really unimpressed with the other Portugal players not having the guts to have a word with Ronaldo when he's getting ready to send another 35 yard free kick into the wall or the stand!

19 Jun 2016 13:07:11
His ego will be burst after that miss, guys a phud always has been. His sore loser mentality against iceland sums him up.

I think the whole 3rd place rule has made a lot of sides very cautious. It's 11 behind the ball a lot of the time.

19 Jun 2016 13:41:32
Said the exact same to ma mate last nite Jim. The fact u can qualify with 2 points is a joke, no wonder teams are happy to defend for 90 mins. Pish utter.

19 Jun 2016 13:43:15
If it wasn't for the English getting a doing it would be the least memorable tournament ever. At least we've had a good chuckle at them.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jun 2016 15:02:07
Absolutely agree. Every game there is one team just wanting a draw from the game and deserves them right when they concede late on

Would like to see Croatia going far in the tournament. Think there the only team so far that have tried to play with a bit of tempo in there play. Hopefully the knockout stages should be a bit more exciting.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2016 15:39:32
Surely UEFA have to give them some length of ban, it's big news if there is a trouble free night at any tournament they are present .
What is wrong with them?

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jun 2016 16:28:25
Spain and Croatia have been the two best footballing sides for me. I think the behaviour of the Croatian fans against the Czechs might have knocked the team off guard but they were cruising up until then. I actually think England could do well if Woy could get his best side playing and settled. I. e, anybody but Sterling. Germany have been a major disappointment but are not to be written off. The Italians are tournament savvy but dull to watch. Belgium and France have the potential to really entertain too mind but the French back line isn't good enough for me. I just think overall it hasn't been a vintage tourney so far but there's time yet.
