A honestly think in my opinion we took Aberdeen to lightly and it nearly backfired, hopefully that's the kick up the bum they need for title run in. No game is a gimme, Yang and Scales shouldn't start especially after our 2nd half performance against St Mirren. a honestly can't remember last clean sheet we had with Scales in team and i have praised him plenty this season . If Miovski didn't catch the eye of BR today he nvr will a had him best player on park. least were in Final 🙏.

I can't believe some of the defending today from both our centerhalfs . Both of their headed goals were identical with a cross to the backpost . You would have thought we would have learned after their second goal but no . we were really lucky today . But we have to tighten up as we have six cup finals coming up before end of the season . its make or break time for this team .

20 Apr 2024 18:11:01
Totally agree with you on Yang and Scales, Yang is just hopeless and way out his depth at this level and Scales has no positional sense.
If Scales had stepped up with the rest of the defence the Aberdeen last goal would have been offside.

20 Apr 2024 18:35:21
Clear and obvious that scales isn't at our level. We can appreciate that he's grafted for us this season but change required. I agree about Miovski, quality player and would love to see him in the hoops.

20 Apr 2024 19:01:24
The fact that Scales has been our most consistent defender speaks volumes about how our standards have fallen in recent years.
Scales has played the most games out of all our central defenders and deserves some credit, but we could all see today how bad that defense was at crucial times in the game - not for the first time this season - and another worry was how Miovski got the better of CCV today.
If we do win the league, the manager has a huge job on his hands building the team he wants, with so much mediocrity in the squad.
Granted, we can play much better, but that's twice we have lost three goals in a match recently and that gives encouragement to others.

Think we definetely got away with one today. Not many players get pass marks, except Forrest was bright when he came on, as mentioned here many a times, our wingers are absolute mince, Yang and Palma are poor.

Why on earth is Hart taking a penalty, when Johnston and Iwata easily scored theirs!

We definetely need a new CB as Scales is an absolute bombscare.

Glad to be through to the final, but that was a hard watch at times.

20 Apr 2024 18:01:28
Definitely got away with one today but scales seems to be the main target for people on here. Is CCV above critism? He was ever bit as bad a scales today. At fault for the first goal? AJ let the same guy cross the ball for their 2 goals which any pressure on him. The back line today didn't cover themselves in glory but there was more than scales to blame today. CCV had a nightmare for me.

20 Apr 2024 23:53:51
Ter to be honest with you I totally agree the whole back line was shocking today and CCV was as much to blame as Scales. The defense definetely needs upgraded.

20 Apr 2024 17:32:20
For once the var went for us and fir all sevco are mince what was that today. it was a performance from the first half of the season not being able to kill teams off has been our achilles heel all season.

20 Apr 2024 17:23:38
Our wingers are truly appalling, all of them. Forrest is miles past his best but still way better than any of the other jokers. I'd play Kyogo out wide and Idah through the middle (although he was mince today) next week. Yang shouldn't even make the bench. We fielded 16 players and honestly wouldn't give many pass marks, maybe Hart and Forrest. Utterly wasteful and the attempted pass by Palma that led to their 3rd goal was typical of his performance, lack lustre and lethargic. Scales and CCV are culpable again with cross balls, too many times. Narowcki and Lagerbeilke must be really bad in training.

20 Apr 2024 17:42:26
It's quite alarming that we've quickly slid from Jota, Abada, Maeda and Forrest to the current choices, although JF still has a bit-part to play; and that doesn't include MJ and Haksabanovic who are also on the books, but may not have a future at Celtic.
Unfortunately it's not just the wings where we need to invest in real quality all because previous recruitment was well below standards.

20 Apr 2024 16:48:19
Awful performance could be here all day. scales isn't better than nawrocki and I've banged the drum for wee James for weeks he's better than yang who should be hunted and he's better than palma who's a chance. we got away with one.

20 Apr 2024 17:28:10
Mal we were pish today. No fire at all. We lucked a win and that's all.

20 Apr 2024 18:05:18
Mal the whole defence were brutal today. No one seems to be giving AJ or especially CCV critism. They were very poor today especially CCV. How many times did he and scales go for the sane ball. Plus totally at fault for the first goal. And AJ let their wide man cross twice for their second and third with little or no pressure. Got blessed today.

Not recommended for auld fogeys like me with high blood pressure and other West of Scotland health issues. However, to have won that semi-final after probably our worst all-round performance in several weeks was real testament to determination, guile and bottle against an opponent that were much better than their league position and gave us a real fright.
Too many Celts not at it today - strangely in the perfect conditions - but so many mistakes, poor passes and mis-control all over the pitch. Hard to explain the dip in form, although they do say semi-finals are always cagey and nervy games.
Possibly CCV's worst game this season, although Scales missed some headers as well and whenever we did get our act together, we couldn't finish them off and let them in.
Hoping that's it out of our system as we (and they) Celtic can play much better. Big mention to James Forrest and (eventually) Joe Hart who seemed to totally enjoy himself, even when I was reaching for ma inhaler and ma short glass. Well done Celtic on another Cup Final, retaining BR's record and hopefully saving your best form for the run-in. H H.

How was that a testament to anything. We were utter pish and should have been beaten. The absolute luck of a penalty shootout went our way but in no way did we earn that win. We were lazy and technically all over the shop. I live for the green and white but fucks sake mate.

20 Apr 2024 17:48:49
I agree we were atrocious Gerry mate; and I never celebrated at the end of the game but although relieved we managed it somehow. My reference to determination and bottle referred only to the pressure of penalty kicks when apart from Hart every Celt scored their PK. Because I can remember back to watching Dixie Deans hit the moon with his and us losing several penalty-shootout's over the decades.

A wake up call if ever one was needed.

Regardless of the destination of both the League and SC thus season, there are too many inferior players in and around the first team squad at Celtic.

Yang and CalMac should never have started today. We've needed a first choice LB to replace Taylor for long enough and today, again, he showed us why.

Scales, where to start? Positional sense is abysmal, cost us two goals and frankly is a bombscare.

Of the current starting 11, I'd start 4 or 5 next season. A few would be benched and the rest need to be punted along with the dross that is the greater squad.

I fully understand the majority of players are contracted but there's no pont carrying players who will either never get near the first team OR those who are only in the first 11 because there's no one to challenge them.

We've got the cash with more on the way, the board should make a statement by backing the manager.

Today was a one off but against as poor an Aberdeen side as I've seen in decades, a bottom 6 team and despite leading twice in the game late on, we ended up dodging a bullet.

☘️ 🍀 ☘️.

Thats a more realistic assessment.

20 Apr 2024 16:02:10
Afternoon All

Serial winners have off games and still win.

We are into a cup final and double is still on

The next game is now the most important.

🙏.

20 Apr 2024 17:06:44
Brian. We were pish. End of. Off games? Off season and that for me = pish team.

20 Apr 2024 15:50:56
Played absolutely mince twice ahead and you and draw, why was Hart on fifth penalty when you see Johnston and iwata after it nearly blow it with a stupid decision.

20 Apr 2024 15:42:07
Why would we allow a GK to take a match winning penalty? I knew he'd miss it. We were very fortunate to win that game, credit to Aberdeen they were the better team!

20 Apr 2024 16:02:47
Agree with both posts above too many players did not play to their potential mainly midfield and CCV.

Some don’t have potential.

Happy that Hart finally saved a penalty 😂.
