This is not the way I wanted to say farewell to Brendan Rodgers. Even if it was the end of the season and he was up front with his reasons I could accept than, with a big fanfare to see him off.
This way reeks and I'm not talking any of that smelling yer maws mince drivel.

It was a quote from Rodgers in his Liverpool days when he was referring to the local passion and feel for LFC. He was talking about walking through your home town in the good old days where windows would be open and you could smell your mums cooking.
In hindsight he was maybe trying to suck up to the fans
Or maybe I’ve totally ballsed up my memory over the years.
