Guys, I need you all to completely change your mindset and think differently. Because you've all been programmed for years to think a certain way about money at Celtic.

Dermot D and PL have got us all thinking the way they want. About our club operating as a profitable business. About buying players cheap and making a profit on them. About just enough spend to qualify for CL group stage. Not over spend to reach last 16 or last 8.

Other clubs are not run like that at all.

Other clubs are owned by billionaires and corporations as a passionate endeavour where they put their earnings into to achieve golden memories without returns. Hundreds of millions are casually written off, no player is bought with profit in mind, they are bought for football excellence to win games. Profits are never declared on the P&L. It's all about winning and buying success with their money earned elsewhere.

That's how RB Leipzig is run.

Bear with me.

Dermot Desmond is 68yo. The average lifespan of a UK male is 79.7 years. So on average he's got another 11 years. I hope he gets them all and plenty more.

Dermot D is worth €2.4 billion.

Is his aim to leave it all to his kids? Or would putting, say, €200m into Celtic over the next 5 years bring him happiness and Joy in his life? Leaving his kids €2.2billion (or more) when he finally pops his clogs.

Because that's what Billionaires who buy football clubs do. They pump their wealth into their club!

DD is the ninth richest person in Ireland. Perhaps what Celtic needs is one or more of the other eight owning us and thinking differently about the club.

Magnier has said he wanted to buy Celtic and he would pump money into the club. Magnier is worth €2.3billion.

Finally. Winning the Champions League earns you a uefa payout of €88 million. So for the clubs who win it's definitely not about returns. They spend hundreds of millions.

It's all about the glory and the hunt for glory.

Agree0 Disagree0

GHB what are rambling about? What right do you have to tell Dermot Desmond what he should do with his hard earned money? He has every right to wish to leave it to his kids so that they are well cared for after he is no longer here. Celtic are run the way a club should be run and have the right fit and proper people running the club with the best interests of the club at the heart of every decision made.
We have to buy players with a sell on profit in mind as it is a major source of our income as we will never have access to the same kind of funds that the premier league clubs do, playing in a mickey mouse one horse league.
We will not be able to attract the quality of player required to bank £88m for winning the champions league playing away to Hamilton and Dundee every second week ( no disrespect) !
Some folks are living on a different planet!

{Ed007's Note - Clubs are only allowed to lose 30m Euros when wages, transfer fees and income are balanced over a three-year period. Investments on stadiums, training facilities, youth development and women’s football are discounted from costs.
So Dermot Desmond or any other rich benefactor can't just pump money into the Club and cover any losses, it would be insanity to go down that road.}

Pointless post GHB. As Ed says clubs cannot do what you think the owner should do.

None of the euro big clubs are playing at FFP at all:

RB Leipzig:
Gulacsi £7.2m
Upamecano £27m
Orban £13.5m
Konate £10.8m
Sarrachi £10.8m
Mukiele £12.6m
Klostermann £10.8m
Kampl £16.2m
Forsberg £22.5m
Bruma £11.3m
Sanitizer £22.5m
Werner £54m
Augustine £22.5m
Poulsen £13.5m
Cunha £11.25m
The rest £7m+

That’s not season ticket and tv money income. That’s Red Bull’s money. The revenue at RB Leipzig does cover the salaries.

In comparison Dermot Desmond’s Celtic:
Christie £850k
Morgan £750k
Hendry £1.25m
Kouassi £1m
Gamboa £750k

Need I go on?

Your argument is if RB had Celtic and Desmond Leipzig then the spend would still be the same at both clubs due to FFP.

He’s a Miser who probably wants to be Ireland’s richest man and not ninth.

He’s like an Irish Leprechaun with his crock of gold hidden away at the end of the rainbow.

Malky Bhoy, sorry mate but you couldn’t open your mind as I asked in the first post. You’re brainwashed, cannot change your mindset or think differently.

Thanks Ed for letting me get my point of view out. I love my club like everyone else. I won’t post on skinflint again.

GHB I think you are way out pal, Timo Werner cost RB 14millon euro
And the French centre half cost them 10million euro.

10/ 15 million euros is about the normal price they pay for players, all very young with a view to selling on for massive profit. They play in a league that has massive TV money being poured into it.
We just can't compete with these clubs from the top 5 league's when it comes to bringing in players.
Yes we may be lucky to unearth one or 2 here and there, but the fact is we can't go and buy 3,4 or 5 at one time it would finish us.
On the other hand you say to yourself why don't we go get a couple at the other end of the spectrum, seasoned professionals around 30, but these guy's probably won't come to Scotland for 25/ 30 grand a week.
I think it must be really difficult and extremely frustrating being manager of Celtic at times lol.

Ref my earlier post listing RB and Celtic player values.
DD could buy those guys putting £40m a year into Celtic for 5 years and converting the loans to shares to meet FFP RULES.

It’s how billionaires and corporations get their money into clubs. Convert the loans to shares.

Kudos to Ed for putting up a broad church of views. Whether popular or not.

{Ed002's Note - No, that is not how FFP works. Any loans made to the club have to be declared as income and they are contained in both sets of accounts. Clubs have to work within the constraints of FFP. If they don’t there are sanctions.}

Celtic are up against it. Sadly the tv money other countries get will always put us at disadvantaged. We have to be smart youth development and transfer purchases. Second one failing at the moment.

We only tick 2 boxes when it comes to being a champions league team. Or magnificent support and our 60000 stadium. Ooh nearly forgot we pay our Cheif Executive a Champions league salary.

26 Oct 2018 19:36:47
King and the three bears have been putting millions into Sevco for four years.

They have not been FFP compliant for that cash injection but the SFA has given them two euro licenses.

They are now converting those loans/ debt into shares to meet FFP.

GHB your rambling again😂😂.

26 Oct 2018 21:31:04
GHB you seem to care a lot about what goes on in snake mountain eh?

26 Oct 2018 22:58:08
GHB, are you on an undercover mission from the Larkhall Loyal, your ramblings remind me of that 2nd world war film, about the POW camp, where they all knew there was an informer in the barracks, and most opinion thought it was Rod Taylor, or whatever his name was, but it turned out to be this all American boy, who turned out to be a right person, what was that film called, Stalag 17?, or something.

27 Oct 2018 08:42:51
GHB who cares what goes on over there .
I think we are run fantastic as a club considering the disadvantages we have to live with, take the accounts for the end of the season coming. With the cash we have in the bank and the sale of Armstrong and Dembele it will mean even without qualifying for champions league we won't have to sell any of our assets. And remember we have a 60million pound wage budget, quite remarkable for a club that doesn't get hardly any TV and prize money domestically.

27 Oct 2018 11:13:04
That's Transfermarkt valuations you're posting there. It also values KT at £11.25m so it's a load of pish.

{Ed007's Note - They're not even that accurate.}
