Honestly thought we would of won game tonight. I know our record away in europe isn't the greatest but had a good feeling we would of got sonething. Ouch well that our hardest tie dealt with.

Forrest red card is annoying me, cause think its wrong decision hopefully gets overturned. Thought he was clever tonight, is it just me or did left sided player marking him look right footed? Forrest seemed to knock ball past players right side a few times during game.

If we had team at full fitness from last season i reckon we would of tore them apart. Something i noticed don't know about you bhoys was that they pushed their back line high a lot during game. If we had a striker that was pacy and good with long balls we would of smashed them.

Smashed them, tore them apart and Forrest was clever! your surely at the wind up! Salzburg showed us up for what we are and that’s bang average! Done well for the first 2 min and that was it! Passing poor as per usual and no real belief that we would get something from that game. we've regressed badly as a team and it showed last nite. yes Salzburg are a good team but if u compare budgets wages fan base and club size then we are bigger than them. there's a major lack of self belief when we step on to that park on European nites by the way! Either in the CL or EL! But I’m not shocked in the slightest by the result or the way the game played out! Because it’s like Groundhog Day watchn us in Europe!

Other teams buy quality mate whereas we sell ours always, I would prefer not be be in the Europa league anyway so we could focus solely on domestic matters this season and let’s be honest we’re never going to win it anyways with a defence like that, we would need to score about 4 goals per game but would still concede 5 anyways.

If you compare budgets and wages they will be more.

05 Oct 2018 06:32:39
There’s no way theyr playin nearly 60 million a year on wages, no chance!

Salzburg are a top quality side and one we should be modelling ourselves on. You will see some of their players get big moves to the top leagues in coming years.

Combined value of Boyata, Hendry, Lustig and Gordon? . mabye 1 or 2 million? . then we wonder why we can’t defend, we signed Craig Gordon of sportscene.

Well said Lh88. Unfortunately we have a team with very little quality in it. To be honest l am not surprised with the result. Teams in the Scottish league have found us out so it's not a surprise teams in Europe have. Once teams seem to press us we fold. The touch of some players is shocking and we couldn't seem to put 5 passes together before losing the ball. I know the defence gets belters and rightly so in some cases but what protection do they get in front of them. Mulumbu l thought have a great game and did everything he could. But both griffs and eddy were poor. Ok he took the goal super but their hold up play of the ball was shocking. Every time it went up it came back asap giving the defence no rest.

We pay huge wages, unbelievable support and stadium but unfortunately we do not have the quality. And every time l was Celtic in Europe it just looks more and more painful we are not up to the task.

It's very hard to take, but we are a very average team when it comes to European competition. I remember the 60's team and then the famous 'road to Seville' with MON - and all the great players we had then and I know times were different etc etc.
However, we also had very lean years in the late 70's, 80's and obviously the 90's and although we are managing to appear regularly in Europe, I think we are nowhere near the level required to seriously compete - especially away from home .
We may have a very high annual wage bill in Scotland, but in the context of other countries and their top clubs - we are definitely the poor relations and we are getting less quality for our money.
The most frustrating thing about this particular period is the repetition of the same old, basic defending mistakes, the severe lack of confidence and fight when we lose a goal in any Euro game and the surrender of the tie and acceptance of defeat.
The players, manager and support can not be happy with this, but the board seem happy enough to plod on regardless of results, reputation and refusal to improve the team accordingly.

spend some time on the training ground learning how to pass would be helpful. N.

Totally outclassed. The reasons for that are obvious to everyone not blinded by Lawell love. Rogers signings have been in the most part woeful so here we are.
No one should be surprised. That’s the saddest thing of all.

We are and always have been a club led by penny pinching rubbishbags. Until that changes for the better we won’t move anywhere but sideways and backward. Just like our passing.

I don't know what has went on since the end of the season but something must have by the end of last season it was so clear that we needed new players in but nothing happened at all WTF and now it's clear to everyone that the players are just going through a routine and not a good one at that and some players should not be on the park for Celtic but with no replacement we are forced to play them not good enough but saying all that we made 17 million profit last year so all is forgiven isn't it?

Tony2bhoy,
Brendan had a double treble squad, value £84m Plus £9.8m for Odsonne Plus Christie returning and others.
AEK Athens has a £34m squad.
He should never have got beaten. He made immediate excuses about no summer signings. He didn’t show anyone the door mind you, which is his job.
He’s got 35 guys on the books and didn’t punt the duds to free up salaries.
The board must wonder just how much you need to give Brendan to buy him success.
Having a £90m squad in Scottish football is criminal. And clearly £34m gets some managers into CL group stages.
