Hi Ed, Have you heard anything about Scott Allan being a bad trainer or unfit? just trying to comprehend why he is always dropped out the squad. think everyone that's watched him would agree he is a proper ball playing center mid.
{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't agree with that but according to the Celtic support who bizarrely spent a season watching Hibs in the lower leagues, Scott Allan could possibly be THE best player Scotland has ever produced. Every manager who's worked with him have been wrong, including Stubbs, and if Brendan Rodgers doesn't build his team around him he should be sacked.
Never mind a statue, one day Celtic Park will be called The Scott Allan Arena after the future Nobel Prize winner.

I am a supporter of at least giving him an extended run. Not based on watching Hibs, but what I have seen when I have watched him for Celtic. He looks classy to me. He certainly splits the support. Give him a proper chance and we will all know for sure.

Last season he made 13 apps for us, that's the 3rd highest he's managed in his career for any of his 8 clubs and 2nd highest since 2011, so what did you see in the 380 league minutes you've seen him play in a Celtic strip that makes him classy?
When Allan was being lined up to be TRIFC's big signing the media were talking him up BIG time and the Celtic fans seem to have bought into that too, now I think people want him to succeed just to get one up on TRIFC. We've already got one up on them with Allan, they would havr built their team round him and yet he can't even make our bench.}

Lord give me strenght. Scott Allan is nowhere near good enough to even sit on the bench. Give me an out of form injured scott brown over him anyday! Only reason some fans ate obsessed by him is because of the manner in which he was signed, ripping carpet from under the feet of sevco.

The ONLY thing of note scott Allan has done his whole career is sign for us instead of them.
Prodigal Bhoy if Allan is so classy why did hibs have a better season with Liam henderson in the team instead of Allan?
Henderson Christie Mcgregor Armstrong and rogic have all achieved more than him in their career and 4 of them are younger.

Ed, loving the sarcasm there "Scott Allan Arena"!
In my opinion, he's looked ok at best, however players like McGregor, Armstrong, Johansen, Bitton, Rogic, Henderson and Brown deserve more merit and a place in the side than him.
He certainly divides opinion however, as a few of my pals seem to think he could be the next messiah.
Although we have 165 or so players that can play in that position, i'd love another Wanyama/ Lennon type player in there to add a bit of steel, perhaps Ajer will be the answer. If not I wonder if N'Guemo is still kicking a ball about.
{Ed007's Note - I'd rather have someone like Paul Lambert in there, he was a better and more intelligent footballer than either Lennon or Wanyama.}

Hilarious, Ed. My faither is a hibbee, and I watched a good bit of Allen in their colours for the sake of the banter. He stood out easily on many occassions and I can't see how a run in the team isn't meritted (like the OP) . Must be something to it, tho.
{Ed007's Note - Sadly for Scott Allan though, Celtic don't play in the Championship where he looked good. Were there any other players in the lower leagues of Scotland that caught you're eye that you think Celtic should sign? What about Dumbarton or QOTS, do they have a GK or CB we could sign?}

ED, after all that, would I be correct in thinking that you aren't his number one fan? .
I think that if at the age he is now he isn't holding down a regular place in the team, then there has to be a lot of shortcomings to his game, all these managers can't be wrong.

Okay Ed. you certainly do a belting line in sarcasm. At the risk of repeating myself. when I have seen him in the flesh he looked like he had time and without doubt he can pick a pass. You've got your opinion I have mine. So it was The Championship, well don't we pick up players from lesser teams and 'bring them on' by testing them at a higher level. He hasn't had a fair crack that's all I am saying. Maybe you are wrong. You championed Delia to the end, even when 20,000 fans said 'no more' and the man himself said he had come up short!

So how many passes has he 'picked', actual numbers mate, the stats are out there so use them to back up your argument or all you are offering is a baseless opinion of he's a good player because you say so. How many assists has he made, what's his pass completion percentage, tackles won etc?

I don't mind Allen but I think there is better in the squad and at 24 years young when does a player stop having potential and actually become a good player.
Won't be devastated if he goes but wish him well of course.

The argument of people that want Allan playing is what he could do, in 13 appearances they can't say look at X match where he played well. I have never seen him play well as I never watched him playing against van drivers and part-timers apart from EK Thistle where he had another stinker. I'm convinced people only want him to succeed to get it up their TRIFC supporting mates.
Yet we have fans writing off Dembele who has just turned 20, moved to a new country and is playing catch-up with preseason after only 3 competitive matches, none of which he's been fit enough to play 90 mins in.}

Prodigal bhoy, appropriate name, i assume it was in honour of the prodigal son Scott Allan. He made 1, count it, 1 fantastic pass against fenerbache and has a couple of decent touches in games however that is it.
If you can't make an impact coming off the bench why risk playing him regularly as any player worth their salt would burst a gut to show the manager he was good enough to be a regular starter, he hasn't done it in any games I've watched and clearly hasn't shown anything in training to warrant a striker start. He was signed as a publicity stunt by pistol Pete and that's all, not Celtic class.
As 4 20,000 shouting no more to Rd etc, don't include me or any of my family as you would never get us givin abuse to any Celtic manager and those who did are an absolute joke.

Think we should remember bhoys it is still pre season and it is too early to judge the players but it's also too early to judge performances of the team. I hate these qualifiers at this time of season it puts us at a disadvantage if you ask me but we are still in it.
We can't complain about players leaving as we need players out before they can come in and we need some fresh blood. Too many average players in the squad and Allen is just one of them. Keep the door open when he leaves if you ask me.

Scott Allan may or may not have made it as footballer in the modern era.
One thing is certain he really hasn't got the work ethics needed in the modern game
A small group of Celtic fans may want to use S A to illustrate the weakness of the Celtic Manager but BR rates him even lower than R D . Managers plural usually get things right.
