Ed, not been on in ages, I hope that you are well. Do you have any idea if these James McCarthy rumours are true? Some are saying a permanent deal in January, others are saying an initial loan with a view to a permanent deal. I don't personally see how a 6month loan in January would benefit us, so calling BS on that one. You're usually more in the know than anyone. Or are there other targets BR has in mind?

Think this window will be more about who goes out than who comes in, but a bit of positive thinking never hurts!

Personally I would love it, but not for the "quoted" £8m.

Cheers.

Kev71986

{Ed007's Note - I said weeks ago that Celtic had been in contact with Everton about signing McCarthy in January and that he was Rodgers' No.1 target, but after the abusive posts that were sent in from a few morons it wasn't worth the hassle of updating the situation.
Celtic have made an offer and Everton are humming and hawing a bit, maybe it's a case of £X in January or the higher £Y in summer when we have more cash to spend. Everton aren't keen on a loan deal as they want to sell him so the only reason I can see it being a 6 month loan is so that Celtic can use CL or ST money to buy him at the end of it
McCarthy won't be singing a 6 month loan and then returning south, it will be a 100% loan to buy, Everton just wouldn't accept that and I agree with you that it would be pointless, Rodgers doesn't like loan signings and told PL he wouldn't even look at the lists of available loanees last summer.
If James McCarthy and his agent get their way he will be a Celtic player in January - the summer at the latest.}

1.) 28 Nov 2016 23:07:35
I have been against McCarthy signing all along but I think I tried to give reasonable argument for my position and I hope I haven't been abusive with my reasons .

{Ed007's Note - It wasn't you, Chris (yes) It's one thing to disagree with me but don't accuse me of making stuff up or deliberately misleading people to 'help the site', that's not on. You don't fancy McCarthy as a player but I'm hoping if he joins the chance to play for Celtic under Rodgers - which obviously appeals to the lad - can rejuvenate his career like it has for Sinclair who I thought was a risk because of the way his career had went. Then again, I've known the boy since he was 12/13 at Accies so maybe I'm biased ;-) Playing under Rodgers and beside Broony can only help him get back to his best imo.
Does Rodgers maybe see McCarthy as Broony's long term eventual successor in the midfield?}

2.) 28 Nov 2016 23:08:11
Can you imagine a midfield pairing of McCarthy and Broony!? It would be incredible!

3.) 28 Nov 2016 23:42:49
Don't really rate Mcarthy myself, but if the manager wants him, who am I or anyone else to say otherwise.

4.) 29 Nov 2016 10:06:59
Everyone entitled to there opinion but am with Ed, think he'd be a tremendous signing. I wanted him before he left for wigan. was raging we didn't get him, so here's hoping.

5.) 29 Nov 2016 07:18:14
Thanks for the update Ed, really appreciate it. McCarthy, Brown and Rogic sounds like a solid midfield, each midfielder would compliment each other well imo.

The team is shaping up nicely.

{Ed007's Note - You're welcome, Kev. Rodgers next mission, if he chooses to accept it, is to get Rogic regularly playing for 90 mins.}

6.) 29 Nov 2016 08:35:15
Ed read the sight every day just want to say I love the job you do and your always close to the mark with your information keep up the good work.

{Ed007's Note - Thanks very much buddy (yes)

7.) 29 Nov 2016 08:44:11
Not like you to give a rubbish what the idiotic minority think ed, lol 😁.

{Ed007's Note - It just scunnered me a bit that some posters turned it into an opportunity to accuse me of making stuff up etc.}

8.) 29 Nov 2016 12:41:49
Don't get the criticism of McCarthy guys a better than anything we have in midfield at the moment.

9.) 29 Nov 2016 12:36:10
Am with my flinstone's friend! When did you ever let moron's get to you before Ed? We read these pages because you usually put them in there place! Lower than Sevco's bank balance!

And most of us know the "neck of the woods" you come from and are a friend of McCarthy's former agent so please factor in that some of us can count and when you post something of that ilk we accept that there is substance in it (Y)

{Ed007's Note - It just gets so tedious and boring though mate. One particular waste of skin (that won't be back) was demanding I tell him who told me and to prove they told me or he wouldn't believe me in about 4/5 different posts then made up another account to spout the same shite.}

10.) 29 Nov 2016 15:32:33
@ed007 - used to work beside his Aunt before she moved abroad with her husband and she always said he was desperate to play for Celtic. So if there's a chance it will happen.
P. S. Hauners from a hun to back up your story, bet you never thought that would happen! 😏.

{Ed007's Note - Am I your man-crush? ;-)

11.) 29 Nov 2016 15:55:57
Do what you usually do toy with them like a shark does with a seal before putting them out there misery!

I must have missed that bawbag he must have been a newbie into the bargain (y)

{Ed007's Note - I never put any his posts up, he had only made a handful of posts over the last couple of months.}

12.) 29 Nov 2016 16:44:42
F**k Them Ed mate.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

13.) 29 Nov 2016 17:35:41
Heard Bruisedbear also wants to come, a sort of menage a trois or as I put it a HUNage a trois
Another downside is you have to pay, lol.

14.) 29 Nov 2016 17:51:37
Id take mccarthy over bitton any day of the week.

15.) 29 Nov 2016 17:42:16
ed you do a cracking job on the site mate, you'll never please everyone no matter how hard you try and for what its worth I think mccarthy would be a class signing and it was only a year or so ago he was getting linked with big money moves, we should have signed him when he was at hamilton anyway.

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate.}

16.) 29 Nov 2016 19:06:13
Mccarthy would take us to another level next to broonie. He badly needed help in the middle in almost every game in cl, and a think Mccarthy is what we need. Keep it up ed n don't let the bastards drag u down.

17.) 29 Nov 2016 19:00:03
@ed007 - pulled worse back in the day after a few pints! 😉
@timalloy - as long as you don't spill the beans about your bedroom antics with the 2 exbears and the bigot in a suit in a novel called 50 Shades of Green we'll be fine!

{Ed007's Note - You must have been at a Saltcoats Proddy Boys do.}

18.) 29 Nov 2016 21:11:23
Classic ed007 haha if I remember correctly a poster on here also questioned u on backing the then Celtic manager Rd to the very end, when u were spot on to do so, like myself n others on here n ones I know.
McCarthy for me I'd be happy with, liked him at Hamilton n Everton he seemed to play well under Martinez as he had at Wigan n maybe gone off the boil, different ball game playing for celtic compared to mediocrity like Everton n i think he would progress really well at our great club, good age, can play n has potential to improve even more so . Also Ed if u mind I felt that elynouusi would have been a good addition at a lesser cost, based on recent form n he was young as well as with sinclair having gone off the boil 4 a bit, finding your best form again can be difficult when uve not been pulling up trees 4 some time so to speak, however sinclair has come in n been a major signing for us, along with dembele n he looks like he's found a club that loves him n is back to playing great football again, which only bodes well 4 us (the fact br signed him was good enough for me to back him though as with any player br brings in as those star have been top drawer) . A top goalkeeper in with McCarthy, permanent deal for roberts n I'd be very happy with that, along with a number of outs then we'd be in a good place looking at next year's qualifiers.
Hail hail.

{Ed007's Note - Always back the manager, even in Lennon's final season when I thought he had overstayed his welcome I still wanted him to succeed and as I didn't expect us go out and replace Deila with someone of Rodgers level and standing in the game or invest in the squad like we have I thought he was the best option until we lost to TRIFC at Hampden. I still can't believe people were clamouring for Larsson to replace Deila, that would have been an even further step down, it doesn't look like Henrik's cut out for management or a head coach position.}

19.) 29 Nov 2016 21:41:53
@ed007 - South Lanarkshire boy - so it was Hamilton Palace for me.

{Ed007's Note - Jesus wept! You better be from Burnbank or Larkhall :-o

20.) 29 Nov 2016 22:43:48
@edd007 - hahahaha! No, I'm from a small mining village as far East as you can go, lies on the border of North Lanarkshire and West Lothian though can remember going through to Burnbank social club (? ) for a Sunday afternoon session because someone had said it was always jumping! Wee bit disappointed that day!

{Ed007's Note - That'll have been The Greenfield or The Jaffa, the Masonic shit-pit down there, I think it's real name is Udston Social Club.}

21.) 30 Nov 2016 01:40:36
It's no Caldercruix by any chance? The land of the living dead.

{Ed007's Note - The car ringing capital of Lanarkshire ;-)

22.) 30 Nov 2016 08:27:54
@stephbhoy - that's North Lanarkshire, bandit country to us Southerners!

23.) 30 Nov 2016 13:45:22
I have made my opinion of McCarthy often enough . But if Rodgers insists who am I to argue and so I will back McCarthy completely and encourage him to become a good Celt.

{Ed007's Note - You're right, Chris and that's the way it should be, and if he does sign I'm sure he'll soon win you over. On the live chat people are surprised to see me praise Gordon for a save or get excited if Forrest scores but at the end of the day even though they're not exactly my favourite players they're still out there playing for the team and although I question their ability I don't doubt their commitment.
I would never abuse a Celtic player if I was at the game they way I've seen some fans do so I'm not going to do it sitting chatting to fellow supporters on a live chat which we set up for a blether and and a bit of craic. In here, on the forum, is the place to discuss players and their faults and good and bad points etc.
Some of the other team's live chats is just one long session of slagging other posters, players and moaning about every slack pass or missed tackle, it's just all so negative - our live chat is by far THE best out of all the sites we run it for.}

24.) 30 Nov 2016 16:40:45
I would just like to "do a Timalloy" and promote Live Chat Ed Live Chat is fantastic and fun and some of the quick witted one liners would have you in stitches

I will be away shortly for 12 weeks and can honestly say I will miss the craic I would encourage any reg / non reg on here to come and try it, it does not surprise me one bit ours is the best by far I have popped by others never with input btw just overview Ed and let's just say one in particular needs a bit of a cleansing no offence! (y)

25.) 30 Nov 2016 21:11:57
Here Ed, Surprised you let my last passage slide with no remark mate!

{Ed007's Note - Cheers mate, I'll have a look at that.}

26.) 01 Dec 2016 18:42:27
Ed 007 I M O You never posted a wiser posts . I see nothing wrong in trying to see the good in a Celtic player or manager .
If I can't see anything good to post about, then maybe we should not post at all.
As far as I can see it all Celtic employees get enough abuse from fans of other club without some of our so "called fans" helping opposing fans.

{Ed007's Note - Abusing players is out of order but I don't think there's anything wrong with criticising players on forums etc and although there's a difference between abusing and criticising neither have a place at a football match imo, you're there to support the team regardless of who's playing.
We all know that one pain in the arse supporter that moans from the minute he sits down, bawling and shouting at every little mistake and calling players every name under the sun - and if you don't know one of them, that person's you!}

27.) 02 Dec 2016 13:24:29
The funny thing about these pieces of shoite is that invariably they have the loudest voice in their end of the stand . I think our Stewards should move them to the away section .

IMO posting criticising players is fine, we are all human, but when it becomes continuous and repeated by very many posters it can become damaging.

28.) 02 Dec 2016 23:54:50
Ed spot on as usual, back the manager no matter who it is, Irish or not, Celtic man or not. I also back the players 100% at games, have gave abuse to a number of boo boys in our support, whether it was the constant abuse of Ambrose, the sniping at Samaras n more recently the booing of johansen n shouting at Rd, just embarrassing n yet the same folk want to clap other teams fans n players, just makes my blood boil.
As 4 old bhoy, I back every Celtic player when they pull on that jersey n represent our great club but we r on a rumours/ banter site n people will discuss players attributes, weaknesses etc, I certainly don't say anything that's abusive or out there against any of our players n have praised Forrest when deserved just like I would any other player n have said a number of times if he could get consistency n an end product more often he would be a top player. That's a big if though, but I hope he does, I also really rate Roberts n think he is pure quality with a magic left leg, could be a big player for us if we could get him signed up permanently.
Anyway bring on the murder well.
Hail hail.

{Ed007's Note - The booing of Stefan Johansen was bang out of order and shows the amount of complete bangers hiding out there in our support. A toxic element brought up on a diet of how great the EPL is and how grateful we should be that Barca like us - that's just patronising and does my box in, and not just because it's them. And if their players love Celtic so much why do they never drop £100k a week in wages to sign for us?
One of the most embarrassing things ever at Celtic Park was Iniesta being applauded off the park in a CL game, keep that rubbish for friendlies and testimonials, it was probably the same knobheads who applauded Iniesta that booed Johansen.}

29.) 03 Dec 2016 15:26:53
Spot on again Ed folk moan about us not signing players who will take us to the next level, n feel that we should be a big team, act like a big team yet r happy to lap up Barcelona etc with a small team mentality, i don't care who we play to me Celtic r always better n we can beat anybody on our day. I hate this clapping other teams fans n players n were happy so long as we're in the champions league. Not me I want to see us in there n competing n for the management players board n fans to show a big club mentality as that's what we r.
Hail hail n what a victory today.
PS agree completely about Henrik, nostalgia doesn't win games.

Slightly off the transfer rumour track, what's everyone's thoughts on Damian Duff coming in to be our new reserve team coach?

As far as I knew he was u17 coach at Shamrock, but I think more recently he has been integrated into the first team set up. Seems a decent jump for him in terms of responsibility. Is he Maloney's replacement?

Kev71986

1.) 14 Jan 2019 19:37:14
Seems he is highly thought of in coaching circles.

2.) 14 Jan 2019 20:20:42
Will do well big McManus in as well.

07 Jan 2019 20:02:19
Pretty happy Weah has signed, but seems to be only on a 6 month loan deal. Was hoping for 18 months, it's not exactly forward planning much for next season.

Kev71986

1.) 07 Jan 2019 20:20:31
Six months is a very short time to make an impression or get used to new surroundings/ country etc; especially with the competition for places and the CL qualifiers due in the seventh month.
Maybe the deal can be extended for him (and Burke) if they enjoy their stay and prove their worth?

2.) 07 Jan 2019 20:47:24
I think the club has learned from the Mosunda fiasco. Personally, I think both both deals will be 6 months with the option of another 12 if all parties are happy. Like you say OAB, it takes people time to settle, this way, all parties are protected.

3.) 07 Jan 2019 21:40:23
I was thinking that originally as well Craig, Musonda deal was a huge disappointment all round and I think Brendan may have taken it personally. If (when) we get Bayo in we have strengthened the attacking options, a right back and centre back and this will be a great window. Plenty of days left.

Trying to be as positive as I can, but I know we will end up signing no-one else and rushing through someone like McKenna through on the 31st of January.

4.) 08 Jan 2019 08:33:32
I still think McKenna is Rodgers top target.

01 May 2017 10:56:24
I have just read an extract from an article in the Sunday Post, which read;

"Sinclair is one of the favourites to win the Player of the Year awards given the impact he has made since moving north of the border last summer.
What he did next, though, whirling away to celebrate in front of the Rangers support was no credit to him. "

It beggars belief how these "journalists" in the MSM are still in employment. So they are now blaming the victim for the incident, not the Neanderthal racist wearing blue and white. Shameful.

Kev71986

1.) 01 May 2017 11:07:47
I know - that is unreal! He had his back to them as well! Celebrate scoring a goal and you are guilty of provoking racist abuse? Are these idiots for real? Why are they so utterly desperate to put everything Celtic down and try to make out the scumbags who invaded the pitch, sing their abhorrent songs and act in racist ways so acceptable? The journalists and editors who allow this to be printed should be up in court.
What was Sinclair meant to do? Score and then act like he's just been told his dog has got to be put down? Unbelievable.

2.) 01 May 2017 11:08:27
Par for the course with that lot, shocking all the same. Lennie used to get it all the time.

3.) 01 May 2017 11:41:54
Well done Scott Sinclair being named Celtic's POY and Players' Player. Just edges it for me. Had a few reservations about him but he put those to rest early doors and so much of our great attacking play has gone through him. Special mention to virtually the rest of the squad who have come on with varying degrees. I wouldn't have argued with several players getting picked.

4.) 01 May 2017 13:14:25
The majority of them are dying inside at the thought of a truly dominant Celtic for the foreseeable future and maybe even another total collapse in govan and the birth of third club inside a decade assuming the same name, stadium and strip and attracting the same old bigots and bile.

03 Mar 2017 22:43:34
See Leigh is having some exchanges with a "fan" on Twitter tonight. He retweeted someone saying he'll be away in the summer.

He's clearly frustrated and venting his anger, but does anyone actually know what's going on behind the scenes? And do we think he will still be here next season?

Kev71986

1.) 03 Mar 2017 23:39:37
He never actually said he was leaving. Think the fan giving him abuse is way out of line.

07 Jul 2016 20:42:11
Guys, is the champions league qualifier on Tuesday on the tv? Presumed it was on BT sport but can't find it anywhere!

Kev71986

1.) 07 Jul 2016 21:58:08
It's on premier sports from 7pm.

2.) 08 Jul 2016 00:31:06
Cheers Ian.

3.) 08 Jul 2016 00:55:00
If you have a Kodi box get the DC Sports app. you get Celtic TV broadcasting all our games live, also loads of documentaries and highlights of old sevco games.

Seems to be the business model of lots of big clubs, get some promising young players in whilst at a lower value and loan them out for some experience.

Quite happy with this window tbh.

Brilliant Ed 😂

Rumours that the Rangers scouting team are watching the Soccer Sixes in Glasgow just now, trying to pick out a couple of 40 year marque signings.

Kev71986

{Ed007's Note - I think it's all part of a cunning plan to re-enact Dad's Army and sell poppies all year round. I mean that's over a week since Christmas and I've not seen any poppy sellers yet.....

Wouldn't say he's better than what we have got, he was released though so not a big risk as far as PL is concerned. Couldn't see him getting a game for us tbh, although at least he is slightly better than the other rumours lol.

Wouldn’t waste the money on either. We already have better midfielders than McTominay and whilst McCarthy is a fine player, his persistent injuries over the last two years mean that it could take months for him to be up to speed. He probably needs some more time in the Pub League reserve league, to get up to speed.

Have you lost all patience with Izzy ed? I loved the boy from his first spell, but it’s clear that he has regressed so far since then that he shouldn’t be near our first team. Do you know if he got his collar majorly felt at half time against Aberdeen? On seeing him peering out of the tunnel in the 2nd half I said to my pals at the time, that’ll be the last we see of him.

Very likable lad right enough.

Kev71986

{Ed007's Note - I'm just the same as you, Kev, great player when he was here but he's went backwards and fans only want him here through sentimentality.}

Ed, what’s your opinion on Perez and Gutman? It appears to me that Gutman will be back up to KT, but with this hip injury, is he good enough to slot straight in? Perez seems like one for the future, heard he may be loaned straight out?

Not one for doom and gloom, but Andy Murray retiring with his hip injury has me sh*tting myself about KT and that we may need a more ready made understudy, I. e. Meling from Rosenborg.

Kev71986

{Ed007's Note - I've not really got an opinion on them but I'm hoping Gutman's arrival means Izaguirre's departure is imminent.
Can a player that played in the US College football set-up be good enough to come straight into the Celtic team - I doubt it myself and would rather see what Calvin Miller can do while KT's out.}
