I can understand people saying that Scott Allen is not a priority but he is a good footballer and strengthening your squad surely can never be a bad thing, especially when we are going to be fighting on 4 fronts this season. Just because we are trying to sign Scott Allen doesn't mean we are no longer looking for a CB, LB and CF. Like Ronny said, let's wait and see what the squad looks like on 1st Sept. I have every faith that we will fill the problem positions by then, although the calibre of player brought in will surely depend on the result of the Malmo tie.

Agree2 Disagree1

Sorry Kev but how is signing a 2nd tier footballer and possibly giving 2 players and cash in return strengthening our squad we already have too many squad players. Ronny has spoken of developing our youth well I don't see it myself he gave Dylan an extension clearly to be a bargaining tool and is the club giving Tierney a contract to get a development fee or to actually use him? We are trying to be a champions league team yet are setting our targets low. Sometimes in life you get what you deserve I hope we don't get Europa league but our signing policy isn't very ambitious is it.

Buy young christie also two good you ng players . if one kicks on to be first team regular and other squad player then for the low output imo good bit of busines

Henderson going on loan to Hibs can only be a good thing surely? He'll start every week for a team that like to get the ball on the deck and play good football, while playing under the pressure of being expected to win every week. Can only be good for his development, he's still very young. Better for him than coming off the bench for 10 minutes at a time once or twice a month!

So where does Allan get game time with us? Surely if your going to make an effort to sign Allan he will want assurance of games this season so I would rather give that game time to a prospect who is no worse than Allan and try to encourage our youths that you can play with us if their good enough

This signing is in the same scale as Wayne Biggins.

Jim1972 personally I'd rather have Allan than McGeough so imo we are strengthening because we'll also get Henderson back with a full season under his belt because he'll get a lot more game time with His than he will here. Like I said, if we qualify I think we will make one or two higher quality signings but obviously we'll need to wait and see if I'm proven right or wrong.

The Scott Allen deal says it all. How does he strengthen the team but you can guarantee that as soon as he is available and paperwork done Ronnie will have him on the bench and he will get game time until he realises yet again that he has or someone has signed a player that will add no class to the side. He will be gone in 2 seasons. Who is he better than that plays in midfield. He is no better than Liam Henderson and he can't get a game!

Wow, I don't remember ever hearing this much negativity about summer signings. Give the guy a chance fs.

14 Aug 2015 16:28:12
He will be given a chance just like every other signing. The problem is the board show no ambition, never have really, they're happy as long as our noses are in front of the other lot. I'm not and am sure most others are the same. I want to challenge properly in Europe, I'm not on about winning the champions league just giving a good account of ourselves IF we get there. It goes back to strachans second season, we had the chance to bury the shame and never pushed on. It's about time we invested in cl players not scraping round the lower leagues pickin up bargains thatve got a 50/50 chance at best whether they'll cut it or not.

I feel for young Henderson as he went on loan to Rosenborg and apparently did a good job and has come back a more experienced player and is now being shunted again because he finds himself behind Rogic and McGregor in the managers plans.
It seems this Celtic squad are over loaded with midfielders (and I include Izzaguire in this as he is not a defender) and a bit short of quality finishers and solid defenders.
McGeough had chances to impress, but obviously hasn't taken them but neither have Boerighter, Stokes, Scepovic and a couple of others have had more than enough opportunities - so can we expect more players in and out this month?

Kevbhoy, Scott Allan is a Championship player. What is there to get excited about there? Saw him a few times last year look decent in Championship but not outstanding. He will fill the bench, in no way is he a Celtic first team starter. Having said that the way we are going he might just be if our transfer policy keeps going backwards. We are now buying players from lesser rivals and now lower league clubs. That policy won't put bums on seats. Will be lucky if there is 40,000 there tomorrow. Something is seriously wrong here. Last season I thought it couldn't get any worse, I was wrong!

Who says every signing needs to be an automatic starter? Like I said, in my opinion he's a better player than McGeough so what we've done is swap one fringe player for a better one. I fail to see how that's a bad idea, if and when he gets on the pitch I have every confidence he'll be a decent player for us.

According to some people we might as well sack Deila now , he is spending our money foolishly and we can't afford that .
I am surprised a club with so many fans posting on forums doesn't heed these people who evidently know who we should and should not sign .
