Talksh1t radio saying Robin Dellia from stromgodset in running for managers post. Worrying times if true IMO

Jim1972

1.) How is that worrying? Sounds quite promising

2.) Not at all, worrying times would be ignoring all possibilities and going for coyle.

3.) Why exactly is that worrying? Bringing in a young manager who apprently plays good attacking football and has worked wonders with a small club. Personally I think it's very refreshing as opposed to giving managers like Keane, Coyle or Housten a look in

4.) Don't see how this is worrying, by all accounts he is a good coach. might need a Celtic head as an assistant or first team coach to help him bed in, but that wouldn't be a problem.

Possible different ideas could mean more excitement for next season.

5.) 04 Jun 2014 12:48:59
How is this worrying? The guy clearly has something about him. He led them to a Norwegian cup and took them from 12th to league winners. If anything this is a massive coup for us, a young up and coming manager who is tactically aware and brings fast paced attacking football, just look at Stefan Johannsen, the kind of players this guy likes to produce. Exciting times ahead if you ask me

6.) Not worrying at all. Thinks this would be a great appointment. Modern attacking football with youth, that's is what is required. Hail Hail

7.) One minute were being linked with former premiership managers with experience then get linked with unknown managers from a league worse than spfl. If you want to sign an unknown manager I would rather it be from Spain Italy France Germany holland Portugal this guy might be good and there is no guarantees with anyone but it is totally uninspiring and appears to be a continuing downgrading at our club if he is to become manager. I can already see the headline celtic sign man who lost 15-0 only a couple months ago.

8.) I'm with 70's Jimmy. So much so I'm totally going to ignore this link as having any substance! There's a few on here happy though so I'll just accept being the minority I guess. Sigh.

9.) Who had heard of wim jansen as a manager before 1997?

10.) D'you not mean Ronny Deila? Player / asst manager at Stromsgodset since 2006, manager since manager since 2008. Won one league and one cup in six yrs? League stats are:

2008: 11/14 (P26, W8, D5, L13, F33, A44)
2009: 12/16 (P30, W10, D6, L14, F40, A42)
2010: 07/16 (P30, W13, D4, L13, F51, A59)
2011: 08/16 (P30, W12, D9, L9, F44, A43)
2012: 02/16 (P30, W17, D7, L6, F62, A40)
2013: 01/16 (P30, W19, D6, L5, F66, A26)

Can't say I've heard of him or know what his style of play, etc is like - but that record does not impress me in the slightest.

11.) As you said there is no guarantees with anyone. All manager great good or bad have to start somewhere. Managers such as Mourinho, Klopp and AVB have had humble beginnings and gone on to be great managers. He seems to be suited to our style and I don't think this is a lack of ambition. I actually think it's more ambitious to appoint a young manager who has a good track record than EPL cast offs who have all failed and are uninspiring.

12.) I personally think this would be a good move, totally diff concept from what everyone has been saying to me it's a +ve step to better football.

13.) Hamilton Bhoy - are you actually serious?

14.) HamiltonBhoy, I think those stats are great. This guy is managing in a league far more competitive in ours, the top 3 finishers in this league change pretty much every year. As for the winner only Rosenberg and Molde have won back to back titles in recent years. Don't forget the main stat of all, they finished top last year. Champions.

15.) As you've mentioned avb Jose and klopp it backs up my call of appoint someone from football nations that are respected Germany Portugal Spain France holland, I've not heard of many people recommending Norway as a nation to pick up managers.if he was to be assistant I could possibly understand it but never manager

16.) He hasn't spent a bean, and still outdid the equivalent of Celtic/the other mob in Rosenberg and Molde. The thing that I like is he isn't scared to go and learn from other top managers, - supposedly he's been at Barca/Ajax/Man C, Utd/Dortmund to name a few. We have to many dinosaur managers that think they know better, think they know it all, and won't change the way they play regardless. They come out with the same old nonsense about working hard/being good at set-pieces, these should be a given. At club level/Internationally we have been shown up and completely humbled compared to say Italy/Spain/Germany. Moyes was found out at Man Utd, supposedly the players thought his ideas were from the dark ages, even Martin O'Neil couldn't handle Di Canio saying his Sunderland team wasn't fit enough, - In the uk we think we have a monopoly on how football should be played/how things should be done, but guess what, we have been left behind!

17.) I'm deadly serious Anton + Garry. I'm just as weary of going for someone unheard of to someone we know will struggle like Owen Coyle. I wouldn't describe finishing mid to bottom table in Norway's top flight for 4 yrs, runners up then winners once each as great. If that's all it takes to be a candidate for manager of the Scottish champions nowadays then Stuart McCall, Derek Adams, Darren Ferguson, etc must all be contenders as well then?!

18.) I was on yesterday saying how I would prefer us to go down the roots and go for lambert or jackie mac, if we went for another option though I would definetely take a gamble on this guy. Young ambitious and let's face it we have nothing to lose and won't really spend a lot in compensation, I do agree tho, nobody had heard of wim Jansen as the guy earlier posted, also just seen that his agent was seen leaving parkhead, the same agent of johansen, this was showing on tv btw in which it actually showed the guy so something must be going on. By guiding this stromsgotset team from 12th to champions does speak volumes and I think he's certainly worth a punt

19.) I know nothing about the guy but what looks obv is that his team progresses every year.Lookin at the stats HB it looks like this guy has done the equivalent of St. Johnstone winnin the league here.If that actually happened wudnt we be hailing the St.Johnstone manager as the next Stein/Fergie/Morinho?

{Ed007's Note - Stromsgodset are losing 1-0 at half-time away to second division Tromsdalen in the Norwegian cup - he's perfect for the CFC job! ;)

20.) I think most fans are so fed up with the delay that we'd take Delia feckin Smith as our new manager never mind Robin Deila!

21.) If you look at his record fi a negative point of view then he's a bit inconsistent, fi a positive view there's steady-ish improvement tbh. If he's as good as the Norwegian's have made him out to be then I'd be happy to see whit he's got in his locker!

22.) Keane is out the frame. now all we need is Coyle to be discounted and i'll be happy.

23.) Well most on here thought Garcia would be a good appointment and he couldn't get the mighty Brighton out the championship and is now plying his trade at the mighty maccabi tel aviv maybe this boy will do ok

24.) Knocked out cup 4-2 tonite by 2nd div team sign him apparently they played well!

25.) Jim grow up mate. One bad result in cup competition, pretty sure Morton knocked us out last year and they were also relegated. This guy is the level our club is now at, I'd be willing to be the brings success. Obviously our scouts haven't just been watching players.

{Ed007's Note - So you think PL was preparing to replace NL all season? Interesting...}

26.) Jim1972, and your recommendation for manager would be?. People who actually watch football outwith the world of Sky will tell you he is an excellent young manager who has, importantly, modern views on football and how to play the game. I, for one, would be happy with someone like this, rather than the Coyles of this world. If I had to choose a UK based manager, it would be Steve Clarke.

27.) Well said Garry92, one stupid result doesn't reflect the guys reputation or potential. It's the exact same as the Morton game last season or the Ross county in Lennons first for few games or even when the mighty Barcelona were beaten by us! Upsets happen its part n parcel of the game! I really think the positives have to be looked upon, he, s 38 who is only going to get better and supposedly He likes to play attacking football and develop young players into gems. There's a bit of a ring to that as that's what we have been doing the last few years with signings? Johansen played with his team and from what I've saw he, a probably our best midfielder overall and that's sad saying it since he only came in January, he's always closing down and very attack minded, why not take a gamble? Instead of going for all the stupid British based under achievers, ie keane coyle etc

28.) Garry you should be embarrassed to say that stromgodset is our level now they play in front of a couple of thousand people have you settled to being at that level?
Cmac I would look for Clarke/rosler/Evans in uk before tinny and in Europe there are numerous clubs punching above their size in top leagues like getafe rayo vallecano hereenveen if you want unknowns.

29.) Jim I didn't say the club were at our level, I said the manager. He's a young exciting up and coming manager who clearly has a lot of potential. This is what we need to be looking for, not some sacked manager from down south who's looking to repair a tarnished reputation or a manager who would demand a huge wage and transfer budget.

30.) If that is where we're at then Gary why are the board even talking to keane and why would they consider moyes Clarke etc or is it just a smokescreen to kid fans on?

31.) I would be all for Deila getting the job.
Unlike other candidates he hasn't yet failed at any job . Most if not all have had more failures in their career than success .

32.) We obviously don't know the ins and outs behind the scenes but the way I see it it, Desmond wanted Keane and only Desmond. Lawwell in my eyes is doing the right thing here. All these names are paper talk, can we really believe most of the names mentioned were actually targets?

02 Jun 2014 20:44:31
Well that's the list getting shorter Oscar Garcia has gone back to maccabi tel aviv.

The club need to take action quickly and relieve Neil of his duties I don’t think many fans will disagree now. Personally I’d appoint Eddie Howe who has top league experience and deserves a chance at a bigger level to lay out a new vision beyond this year whilst still having a chance of delivering 10. Got to say Ed asking for coco and McNamara gave me a laugh, failure at derby and health concerns taking over this season😂😂.

Jim1972

1.) 29 Nov 2020 19:46:05
The club also need to take action against any so called 'fans' proven to be involved in violence outside Celtic park. No room for that at our club.

2.) 29 Nov 2020 19:52:22
Not really funny joking about McNamara Jim1972. Strange sense of humour.

{Ed007's Note - And that failure at Derby won three Dutch titles and 3 or 4 cups with PSV, Jim obviously doesn't know much about football. Would you take the coach that won the 2018 Dutch League Jim ya absolute moon unit?
Did Jim dance in the street when we appointed Brendan Rodgers who had won a Pub League play-off final and hee-haw else?}

3.) 29 Nov 2020 20:41:22
Not laughing at mcnamara just the fact would you seriously appoint someone with major health concerns this year to get 10 in a row with the pressure that comes with it? Touch a nerve Ed and do we dismiss a current failure with a guy who’s last job was to leave derby bottom of championship and everyone to say good call🤣🤣.

{Ed007's Note - If you bothered to read what I typed I mentioned McNamara's health problems but maybe a coaching role without the pressure of being the main man would do him well and his knowledge of the Scottish game would certainly help us.
Do you only rate managers by what they've done in England? Not many managers down there won their 3rd Dutch league title 2 years ago. You obviously don't know much about football so probably best we draw a veil over this because I can't be arsed arguing with people that don't know what they're talking about.
That's you btw.}

4.) 29 Nov 2020 22:12:57
Ed007 what Jim1972 is too naive to understand there is regularly players and managers of a quality standard who make moves that don't work out and kick-start their careers elsewhere. Had Chris Sutton's Chelsea transfer worked out, we would never of saw him at club.

I think Cocu would do well at Celtic.

{Ed007's Note - You don't beat Ajax to 3 league titles unless you know what you're doing imo Cocu with the right backing behind the scenes from the right kind of people would be a big step forward in bringing back the standards across the board Ronny started and Rodgers continued. He would need someone beside him who knows the Scottish game and Jackie Mac could do that job easily if his health allows it.}

Could ed or someone explain why last night was a sell out yet the attendance was 56000?

And does anyone know how many tickets Celtic have for Lazio away as their attendance was 13000 last night.

Jim1972

1.) 04 Oct 2019 15:57:20
It's because of advertising boards means seats at the front of both the Lisbon lion and Jock stein stands can't be sold plus euefa take a couple of thousand tickets for corporate and advertising partners meaning all tickets available for sale are around the 56k that we announced.

2.) 04 Oct 2019 16:14:08
Jaw that can’t be right because even with the seats at the front in Europe when it’s sold out it always says 60 thousand?

3.) 04 Oct 2019 17:44:32
Seats at front 3 rows can't be sold
Then corporate
Then segregation.

4.) 04 Oct 2019 17:58:30
Also forgot the away fans only took up 200 seats so it was a sell out for us but not their section.

5.) 04 Oct 2019 20:45:53
Surely corporate count as fans in attendance and away section wouldn't be massive loss of seats, behind both goals is less than 1000. Doubt uefa take thousands of seats jaw1888 although they like a bit of corruption at times.

Delighted to still be on course for quadruple treble in years gone past we have gone out against worse opposition in Clyde and Morton. Well done to the fans who follow celtic through thick and thin today, hope the club reward us with priority for semi and final rather than those who can't be bothered following if we're not playing good.

Jim1972

1.) 17 Aug 2019 20:30:55
Some sense there😁 agree with you.
it puts me off defending us and being on this site even Ed gets pissed with them
we are so successfull because of the we are run very well if they look across at our friends down the road boy how they have suffered they have followed there team being dragged through a million court cases no money being fed crumbs playing the under dogs media loves them. I know Lennon's not everyone's cup of T but give him some time has he not got us the treble treble and the Scottish won all league games and through to thee next rd of cup. And win our next Europa game and we could well be playing in the Europa League.

13 May 2019 10:22:06
I would throw Sean dyche or Chris hughton in to the ring for managers job both these guys punch above their weight in EPL. It would give them an opportunity to win trophies and possibly improve their career for future. But it would require backing from board to entice them out of EPL it's just names on previous thread are either non starters or uninspiring to me.

Jim1972

{Ed001's Note - Hughton just got sacked by Brighton.}

1.) 13 May 2019 10:34:44
That's even more up our boards street🤣 I'd still take him as keeping Brighton in that league isn't a failure on my thinking.

2.) 13 May 2019 11:21:38
Don't think we'd get Dyche jim. He's being eyed up as a future England manager.
Ed 001 is Houghton highly rated?

{Ed001's Note - highly respected and liked, I suppose it depends on what or who you talk to as rated. I think he was unlucky to get the sack, but it is difficult to know if he is the right man or not. He deserves a chance though.}

3.) 13 May 2019 11:46:07
Just the culture down there now ed. What does a team like Brighton really think they can do?

{Ed001's Note - I don't get it, they think too much of themselves and their expectations arose beyond realism.}

4.) 13 May 2019 12:06:25
Ive just been sent a rumour that eddie howe has been lined up for after the final, does anyone see any truth in it? He'd be a step up from lennon or clarke I think.

5.) 13 May 2019 12:22:18
Houghton did a fantastic job at Newcastle and was treated very harshly imo. A man that always comes across well. Don't think he'll be out of work long. Good luck to him.

6.) 13 May 2019 12:01:16
Not just them though either ed. Every team that hits the EPL is the same.
They get delusions of grandeur and think they are big clubs just because they are in that league.

{Ed001's Note - they are in terms of money.}

7.) 13 May 2019 12:59:56
Stephbhoy2 you could add him into the mix for me, he's taken Bournemouth as far as can be expected and if bigger EPL clubs don't come in soon he'll either move to mid team continental like Moyes tried or get relegated eventually which sets his stock lower.

8.) 13 May 2019 13:07:20
That makes them rich not big ed.

{Ed001's Note - and the difference is?}

9.) 13 May 2019 13:22:59
hughton got sacked due to 3 wins in 23 games. regardless of league etc that's unnacceptable at any level

brighton will never be more than a bottom half side but 3 in 23 is awful.

10.) 13 May 2019 14:30:39
3 in 23 is poor but these clubs can struggle at any time. He also took them to semi final of fa cup so for Brighton does that not overall become a good season? What name would you realistically take always cheated?

11.) 13 May 2019 13:59:00
Well I wouldn’t say that a Brighton or Huddersfield are bigger clubs than the likes of Leeds, villa or Sunderland ed.

{Ed001's Note - they can attract better players though. Not that I really see that it matters.}

12.) 13 May 2019 16:34:30
Jim1972 im a bluenose and on the way you guys have played since lennon come in id be thrilled if he got the job permanently as you have looked laboured, abject, devoid of ideas etc

dont think he will get the job tho but i can't see it going to a "big name" either.

13 May 2019 10:16:37
Although I have sympathy for Neil Lennon taking over a team that has been on a downward trend for some time now and no transfer window to buy his players. I don't think it would be right to appoint him as he is on a mission impossible to get our fans behind him. So it's over to Peter and Dermot to show ambition and my 2 choices would be Sean duchess or Chris.

@jonace where are you getting these wages from? Personally I doubt ralston is on 8k and o'donnell was a free and signed for motherwell do you think he's getting anywhere near 10k. I'm pretty sure someone at celtic negotiates wages for killie/ motherwell players etc based on previous then add some but not ridiculous amounts like your suggesting.

Kev I've attended 24 out of 30 league games this season which has been a large financial cost after more than 75% played am I just to say fair enough null the season? What would happen if we mathematically won the league but only played 35 games and relegation/ Europe isn't settled do you nullify league?

Got to agree with most of comments regards blame but I do think some fault lies at the fans feet. The atmosphere totally changed when green brigade held up the banners for Palestine and that was the fuel for dissent between them and board and it’s never really recovered. I’m hoping hatate and ccv return soon but can 2 men halt this mess we’ve got ourself in to?

Very reasoned thinking timalloy but I know the club has been very good in advancing disabled facilities at Tommy burns view and recently opened view 67 platform. I do think a study should be conducted to improve main stand for all supporters but that would probably be filed alongside the hotel and museum?? which is on the to do list.

Many parts of Celtic park and surrounding footprint is brilliant but as a season ticket holder in main stand it’s embarrassing that we rebuilt 3/ 4 of the stadium and neglected the main stand. Fergus gets lots of praise but he failed to address main stand when he redeveloped stadium.

The club won’t set up a ticket exchange as they want to maximise income from full price ticket, for most games it takes till last days before the game to sell out. So why would they take less of a cut for more set up and management costs? An obvious scenario is home cup matches Morton not sold out and st mirren not likely to sell out, How do you run an exchange with 15000 extra seats to sell first as not all season ticket holders are on home ticket scheme?
