Could it be that Lennon keeps setting signing deadlines (that we keep missing) in order to put pressure on the board to actually sign players?

There’s also the possibility that by refusing to play Ralston and Hayes at fullback, and instead playing players out of position, he’s also showing the board how urgently we need to recruit in these positions.

I know he gets the ‘yes-man’ tag, and there may be some truth in that. But there’s no way he’s going to sit back and just let the board do nothing in the next week.

He knows the consequences of being the manager who failed to win 9 or 10 are massive. It would (rightly or wrongly) wipe out all achievements he’s had here, including winning the treble as a player, and beating Barcelona and reaching the last 16 as a manager.

1.) 28 Aug 2019 10:33:48
Shouldn't have took the job if that's the stunts he's playing. Being a yes man back firing. It's head that will roll while the plc announce bumper bonuses.

2.) 28 Aug 2019 10:40:18
If that was his plan its failed miserably as the club clearly aren't feeling that pressure and the players haven't been signed. All it's done is cause the support and the press to question where these players are.

3.) 28 Aug 2019 10:40:50
I don't think the board fully trust lennon. We have desperate for a RB for about 3years and we still only have one and no cover incase of injuries we also need another lb and a dm but I don't think we will get anymore. Why did we sign a gk when we have girdi who is adequate for the spl.

4.) 28 Aug 2019 11:16:47
If the board don't trust Lennon he should never have been given the job.
He is either coming out with this crap to put pressure on the board or he has no idea what is going on with the transfers, either way he has made himself look like a Twat and totally clueless.

5.) 28 Aug 2019 12:33:16
Doesn't matter how it's spun. Lennon has lied to the support all summer.

6.) 28 Aug 2019 13:53:41
Nonsense
Celtic don’t appoint managers without trusting the candidate
Lennon may well have expected signings only for complications prevent completion. Lying all year I doubt it.

7.) 28 Aug 2019 19:46:31
The board never trusted Rodgers by the end .
Rodgers took a swipe at the board and look at what happened.
He walked away, left us in a complete mess and we had no strategy afterwards. Somehow won a treble after the complete sh**show that followed.
The amount of nonsense aimed at Lennon lately due to a lack of signings (hardly his fault is it? ) has been blown waaay out of proportion.
We can all agree Cluj was a clusterfunk but apart from that oor support need to take a chill pill
Patience is a virtue and aw that.

Sorry to see Sinclair go if it does indeed happen. We’ll certainly miss his goals, however, his overall performances haven’t been good enough the past 18 months. Seems to have lost his confidence and play breaks down with him too often. It’s not just Lennon who hasn’t picked him much either - Rodgers dropped him for the majority of big games in the last season or 2, and he was ‘Rodgers Boy’.

I think Mikey can chip in with 10 goals and 10 assists this season to make up for his loss.

Unconvinced on Morgan though so maybe need someone else to come in.

LM67

1.) 08 Aug 2019 10:36:32
Am really glad you pointed that out LM that he went off the boil a while back

Seems to many wanted to blame Lenny and suggesting it was personal

SS is now the highest paid player at the club given how his contract was structured and it sadly is time he is moved on.

2.) 08 Aug 2019 16:01:25
And we were all unconvinced on Ryan Christie until Rogic went off to Australia and returned injured. I believe at that point Christie was on his way out of Celtic Park and look at him now after he grabbed the chance he was given. Morgan is being given a chance too and we have to hope that he will grab it with both hands just like Christie did. Shame if Scotty does leave as I think he is still our best option in that position.

Silvan Widmer, Antonio Barragan and Robert Gumny all on the radar for the next right back signing apparently.

Widmer’s agent was at the game tonight, but also acts for some of our players.

LM67

1.) 26 Jul 2019 05:32:30
I would love gumny, I don't know much about the other 2 though.

Some Italian sites linking us with a move for free agent Andrea Bertolacci.

A wind up from a guy on KDS and the day late record fell for it.

Rumours that Jose Cifuentes is a done deal pending a work permit.

LM67

1.) 20 Jul 2019 13:42:25
Hope that`s true, he is meant to be a great player .

2.) 20 Jul 2019 15:27:02
Bertollaci ex AC Milan, midfielder, to be offered deal, Twitter rumour.

3.) 20 Jul 2019 15:57:17
The Bertolacci link is pure nonsense. However, the boy Cifuentes will be signed. I posted this around 10 days ago as i was expecting it to be completed last week but he will be joining Celtic from what i have been informed.
HH.

4.) 20 Jul 2019 16:37:26
Celtic will get kit deal with Adidas, £30 million, will be announced in new year.

5.) 20 Jul 2019 18:08:20
30 million a year? 😉 Or 5 year deal?

6.) 20 Jul 2019 18:50:55
5 year.

A lot of talk on of selling Rogic, and while I agree he was poor last season, I still think he can produce magic that no one else in our team can.

I knew he would have a poor season as he hasn’t had a proper break/ rest (other than when in injured which obviously isn’t the same) since summer 2016! Played for Oz in Confed Cup in 2017 and World Cup last summer.

No surprise either that after that rest in summer 2016 he produced his best season for us, scoring 12 in 36 games.

I wouldn’t write him off just yet. A proper rest this summer will hopefully have done him a lot of good.

LM67

1.) 22 Jun 2019 12:55:52
Lm67 he is a passenger in most games and lives of the odd big goal. He plays in what is meant to be the most creative area in the park and creates very little.

His over all goals and assist stats for his full time at the club are atrocious.

He misses serious amounts of games every season and very rarely finishes 90 minutes.

2.) 22 Jun 2019 16:26:30
As much as rogic has that bit of class to open up team is does it way too little for me. And does go missing in some big games. For me if we did get a good bid for him it one that we need to seriously think about.

20 Jun 2019 22:58:47
Good sign if Lennon’s told Lawwell that he wants to sign him no matter what it takes and he’s went and slapped the offer on the table. Maybe not his pupper after all.

LM67

1.) 21 Jun 2019 00:34:55
Any chance Nicky Hammond might have played a part in this?

2.) 21 Jun 2019 03:53:46
Surely to get he must have relised he would not get game time doon there. Welcome aboard ps hit the ground running or else the knives will be out football fans are fickle early goal and it could be the start of a wonderful friendship .

3.) 21 Jun 2019 07:54:06
Defo buster👍.

4.) 21 Jun 2019 09:17:49
Buster am sure Hammond hasn't started yet. Think it's 1st of July he starts.

5.) 21 Jun 2019 15:41:24
His pupper had me buckled 😂. Feck you ought to see some of the txt I send and don't notice that predictive txt has changed most of the txt. Gaun the pupper!

6.) 22 Jun 2019 03:03:45
Although this talk about young turnbull wanting more money who wouldn't good luck to him. Do the deluded on here think Larsson was on peanuts for the 7 years he was here . welcome to Celtic son now hit the ground running or they'll be after you.

27 May 2019 21:37:02
Lennon was by no means my first choice, far from it. But I think there’s been a major negative over reaction to his appointment.

He was brought in to deliver the treble, and he’s done it. Yes the League was pretty much wrapped up, but the cup wasn’t and the ties we got in that were far from easy.

Obviously the performances haven’t been up to scratch, but I’m hoping with the summer to bring in his own players and have implement his own style we’ll see an improvement. He’s also had it tough injury wise since he came in, and has had next to no use out of KT and Christie, and none out of Griffiths.

Do I wish we’s got someone else? Of course. But I still think we are in capable hands as we head towards the 10.

LM67

1.) 28 May 2019 12:58:03
Didn't he do that at Hibs? They was terrible most games and only picked their game up when playing us or Sevco.

23 May 2019 21:22:46
Moyes is by no means my first choice as our new manager. However, I’m surprised that his potential appointment is being greeted with so much negativity.

I’m in no doubt that the main reason for this is that too many of our supporters are convinced that we actually have a chance of getting Mourinho, Benitez or AVB. Can you really picture any of these guys rocking up to Dingwall on a Wednesday night with a team full of £2-3m summer signings? No chance.

Do I think Moyes would blow us away with free flowing football like in Rodgers’ first season (his final 18-20 months were poor) ? No

Do I think he’d make us more competitive in Europe? Maybe

Do I think he’d lead us to 9 and 10 in a row? Definitely.

Don’t forget this is a man who was handpicked by one of the greatest manager’s ever to manage the biggest team in the world not so long ago.

To think he’d fail in Scotland is laughable.

LM67

1.) 23 May 2019 21:47:07
He was on a hiding to nothing following fergie and in relative terms didn't spend much compared to what van gal and Jose spent he then made 2 bad choices going to Spain and serial failures West ham.

2.) 23 May 2019 22:10:33
I have multiple reasons I don't want him near our great club, here's a few
1) He hasn't done a thing in the game- Managed Preston -mediocrity
Managed Everton -mediocrity
Every job he's had since has been disasterous.
2) He is one of the most boring people to listen to-zero charisma, good managers need to be good talkers.
3) The main reason is he has I believe had the chance to come to us when he was in demand and ruled himself out pretty quickly.

Get him tae f***. Just no no no
ABM- Anyone but Moyes.

3.) 23 May 2019 22:28:45
It has nothing to do with the likes of AVB or jose.
It's to do with the fact he is chronic. He's never achieved a thing and it a plod along manager at best.

I have been quite vocal about not thinking Lennon is the man for job but I'd take him over moyes any day.

4.) 23 May 2019 22:51:05
Not my first choice, was good at Everton but that's it.

In fairness though Man Utd was a sinking ship before he took over. If they were still winning titles, Fergie would still be in charge.

5.) 23 May 2019 22:58:47
Rodgers has never won anything outside of Scotland either though kev.

6.) 23 May 2019 23:11:42
Exactly Kev, I'm not deluded enough to think we are going to get some of the names being mentioned but Davie Moyes! come on we can do better than that. This is a guy who's desperate for a job because nobody wants him. I smelt a rat weeks ago when he turned up at the Kilmarnock game but tried to convince myself he was going to get the Scotland job or he was up to pay his respects to Cesar. As I said earlier once you have turned down the chance to come to our great club you don't get another.

7.) 24 May 2019 06:00:54
The mangers position will be sorted next week one way or the other thank god, then the speculation stops and whoever gets the gig wether it’s Lennon, moyes, Benitez, mourhino, the Pope, we need to get 100% behind them. Next season is massive, everything that’s been won and done for the past 8 years has led us to the brink of 9 in a row. I grew up with the stories of the lions doing it and never in my wildest dreams thought I’d see a Celtic team achieve it and possibly better it. Whoever the next manager is we must give him our full support, pull together as one and build for next season. We’ve a huge job on our hands in terms of players leaving and quality being brought in. The manager ( whoever he may be) needs to fully focus on that, not wasting his time trying to unite the fans who are divided on who got the job and are happy/ unhappy with it. As long as a manager is announced pretty much straight away after Saturdays final and gets to work immediately on signings in key areas with quality I’ll be happy, after all these champions league qualifiers don’t half come around quick style.

8.) 25 May 2019 12:14:07
He never won anything in England but then again neither did Brendan Rodgers.

He's not an exciting name, probably a better manager than he gets credit for but he will be more defensive compared to Rodgers which may be a good thing.

14 May 2019 23:13:30
Interesting that Lennon and Gary Parker were at the west brom game tonight given they don’t have a manager and Parker isn’t part of Lennon’s backroom staff just now.

Hope they were taking Ollie Burke back home.

He played on the left against us so comfortable in both positions. He’s also 6 ft 2. Got a feeling this is Lenny trying to sign his new Samaras.

Kent was clearly better than all of our wingers other than Forrest last season. He played very well against us in 3 of the 4 games. I personally hope they don’t get him back.

And as for stats, they don’t tell the whole story.

If they did Morelos is better than Dembele and Kris Boyd is the best striker to play in scotland in the last 25 years.

We’ve signed 2 right backs and have 3 centre halfs plus Bitton who has been excellent so far this season - a left back and that will be it I reckon. Any further signings will be defensive midfielder or striker.

The amount of game time Morgan is getting suggests we definitely need another winger!

Shved and Sinclair should be ahead of him but are not for whatever reason. No way should Morgan be third choice winger so Ibe would definitely be an improvement on him.
