Well we knew the media would line up against Ciftci when he signed for us, but how blatantly biased is the story in today's Sunday papers "McCallister to take on might of Celtic's legal team on his own" yes a poor wee guy takng on a big nasty club Celtic (in other words come on SFA ban Ciftci)

Agree5 Disagree1

That's your interpretation Tim with a large dose of paranoia on top. Having seen the pictures of cifti and the bite mark that was left do you think he's innocent? Or were the photos doctored after he signed for us

Still staggers me how these cases don't go to a court of law nevermind Hampden. If such a purported incident happened on your local high street?

19 Jul 2015 14:07:47
It is got feek all to do with US! It happened in a Utd! STRIP!

Although he will miss a chunk of games for us (am thinking six btw!)

Your so right JimTim my view of this is different MUCH different to the Griffiths & Tonev incidents ( NOT that am saying they are right!)

But for me it's the auld school adage "sticks n stones will break your bones but NAMES. " it is unpalatable in modern day times and not acceptable before a ask Paradisewon for a "len" of his tin hat lol but you get over it!

But for fk sake when you start to BITE someone it is a whole new ball game for me! A was looking a bit more into the Ciftci incident Ed and a came across the other incident where he was "supposed" to have throttled a linesman ( a wonder if that will get flagged up by the "beaks" )

Nothing against Ciftci (who a don't think is that great!)but STILL cannot understand why the custodians of our club moved for him with this hanging over him!

I hope your being sarcastic Timalloy, I really really do. If not your a very paranoid person. IF ciftci has bit the lad (from the video the lads reaction looks genuine) then he should be given at least a 10 game ban in my opinion. This sort of behaviour has no place in the game.

Jamiebhoy they moved for him because he's out the bargain basement! Just like the other half dozen strikers before him! I said it before we signed that we shouldn't have went near the guy! Now say we griffiths gets injured for a couple of months and this guy gets hit with an 8 game ban! Where does that leave us? With one striker(scepovic) who couldn't even get on the park last night when everybody else got a run out! Really does make u wonder what they were thinkin honestly! If they wanted some bargain in Scotland why not go for Rooney! Nearly 30 goals last season and his discipline can't be called into question! Now personally I don't rate either of them, but if your lookin at bargain basement then I know who I would have went for! I've said it before and I'll say it again! If we go with that strike force after the window then we'll struggle! Really hope I'm proved wrong! But I don't think so.

Dh88, I agree with you re Rooney over Ciftci I seen on the Sevco page they wanted him and they asked there Ed (039) a think he is? how much it would take to get Rooney and said a half a mill , there Ed fired back at the time they could get him for £150k ffs so what does that make Ciftci really worth?

That Dundee Utd chairman ain't daft mate he must have been thinking that NO ONE would come in for Ciftci given his pending ban and the time left on his deal IMO , he gets a ban that sits him out till Oct ish he ain't match fit till what Xmas? we should have signed him then on a pre-contract and for me he a much different/ no pressure signing and for me a different prospect / less expectations

As a said at the time if we stuffed them for GMS & Armstrong they got there own back on us with Ciftci just my opinion (y)

Totally agree Jamie! Why pay 1.5 million for a guy who's facing a lengthy ban and u could sign him in January on a pre contract or for a hell of a lot less than 1.5 million! Just makes no sense! I for one hope I'm proved wrong, but I just get the feelin we'll regret it if we don't bring in another striker! And another left back while we're at it! Lol

Jamiebhoy you are not far off the mark. What staggers me are comments from timalloy? Now Cifti is a Celtic player it seems that the media is against him? It looks to me like he bit the guy so whether he is a Celtic or Barcelona player he is going to get banned. Remember Suarez? Is he good enough for Celtic? Apart from Griffiths he is the best we have! I don't think either are good enough and I believe we will struggle to qualify for group stages. Can see a small improvement from this time last year but still waiting for this promise of fast free flowing football. It's 2 transfer windows down the line. The old players have been sold it released. RD has now brought in what he feels he needs. Let's see.

Jamie re ciftci and the linesman incident. Now that he is a Celtic player it will be flagged up. Linesman are always quick to throw up their flag where celtic are concerned

With a ban likely, ciftci signing doesn't make sense unless they see potential in scepovic and regard LG as the man with the jersey. But why then start ciftci in qualifier? I actually thought that decision was a shocker. Did LG not merit a starting place? What would that have done for morale?

RD team selections sometimes leave me scratching my head. He almost beckons controversy and criticism I think. I am a little bit " mild " on our messiah at this minute

I will be in a minority.

I don't even put the tin hat on these days as I never have it off!

the reason they bought Ciftci,is because he is a talent, this is the way of the modern football, some people have talent and they also have behaviourial problems, but not all unfortunately Ciftci falls in to the problem side but not by much, the other side is people of lesser talent get over hyped by the press and the gullible amongst the Celtic support,of who there is many, fall for these false gods, and there is much gnawing and gnashing of teeth when these european 'superstars' are not signed by the club,i say verily to unto you.

To be fair I can see why we went for him, and why he started against Stjarnan. Don't think he's the quality we were wanting, yet, but it's the 'type' of player he is. He's capable of hassling defenders and holding the ball. His link up play at times looked very promising. I think LG is a better finisher but I can see NC making more chances for himself and the team. Needs to work on putting them away.
