Rumour has it no one was interviewed prior to Lennon being given the job.

The latest statement says 1 of 2 things to me:
1. They are showing the same pig-headed attitude that got us in to this mess. No one has been approached and they standing by him no matter what. He will get January to get rid of the players who don't want to be there and we can expect more pub league loans to try and salvage the season.
2. Managers have been approached and turned it down or perhaps have said they will take it next summer only, either due to pressures of going for 10 or they are committed to another club until then?

Any thoughts on this ed? Your more in the know than most. Do you think we would have made approaches to managers whilst Neil Lennon is still in the job? I don't doubt agents have been pushing manager names to Lawell over the last few weeks, even months. The talk of their values in that statement suggests to me no moves have been made behind the scene.

{Ed007's Note - On the day of the Scottish Cup final when we beat Hearts to clinch the 3 x Treble, I left the house sharpish for 6 o'clock Mass expecting David Moyes to be announced as new Celtic manager over the next few days, he had spoken to Dermot Desmond and it was planned that he would meet Lawwell to finalise the deal in the days after the final. By the time I got to Mass Lennon had been given the job in Hampden's showers, much to Moyes surprise according to Ed002.
The fact Lawwell came out and publicly stated he hadn't even looked at any of the applications/interest for the job in his drawer was and still is a massive dereliction of duty on Lawwell's part.
At that time there were plenty of managers interested in the job (although nobody was actually interviewed as such DD had definitely spoken to Moyes and probably a few others) but that's not the case now, the shadow of 10IAR looms over Celtic Park and a lot of people won't gamble their reputation on winning it.
I believe that MON/Keane and Gordon Strachan have been sounded out about taking over until the end of the season if/when the decision to axe Lennon is made. This coming summer the Celtic job will appeal to a lot of people again but it would appeal to a lot more if Lawwell isn't in the CEO position - after Rodgers' time here it's out there how difficult the manager/coach job is with Lawwell's interference in footballing matters.}

Ed007 I know first hand Lawwell has a habit of employing who he wants at celtic Park rather than based on best candidate. The player liason manager, Brendan O'Neil got job because his aunt is Lawwells secretary. The boy had no previous experience and was a gas engineer for City tech beforehand!

Reason I know this is I know Brendan.

The one good thing during this bad spell is Lawell getting the criticism he deserves. Hopefully he's gone in the summer and we get a Director of Football brought in.

Ed, I totally agree with you on the massive dereliction of duty point. Even if Lawwell hadn't genuinely entertained a single CV received, there is absolutely no benefit to stating that to the media. Any manager who may have been interested at that stage would surely no longer have any intention of applying again - and wouldn't hesitate to let others know how they had been treated.
