Can any of the Ed's enlighten me about what happens to the leagues that play summer football when the European championships are being played?

{Ed002's Note - Typically they have the month of June off.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Been thinking along the same lines kev, finish season oct/ nov.
Then start new season feb 1st, just in time for European games after xmas if we qualified, then we can watch football in decent weather.
Yes there will be problems come world cups etc but other countries cope ok.
Also maybe get a better tv deal, with the benefits of come july/ aug CL/ EL qualifiers and we will be ready for them.
Think its a no brainer now no excuse not to do it.

Rayman99. I think we should keep the season as it is unless the major leagues change as well.
I doubt we could attract decent quality players to the club if we played in the summer months and even if we could the time they would be away while these tournaments are on would mean we would be weakened for a fair chunk of the season. It's not only competitions themselves but you could lose a player for 2 or 3 weeks before the tournament and maybe the same again after it depending on how far their country goes, and this would be every 2 years.

We could bin the winter break next season, plus scrap the League Cup and play the remaining league games from this season when the LC groups normally get played (sponsors may well have something to say about that of course) . There's a lot of rearranging that could be done but the problem is we have no idea when the start date will be. It's looking pretty bleak.

It may not be as simple as what many think . It is reckoned by WHO that football which attracts crowds in the thousands may not resume before 2022.
After all to quote a genius from Ibrox, nobody wants to pay to go to watch a game behind lock doors .
Football as we know it could be finished in Scotland, if no games before 2022 I don’t think they will be enough clubs left to run a Professional league.

Chris even for u that post is very pessimistic 😂.

I think some people are over optimistic. Some people think that if football clubs provide spectators with masks, attendance would be safer . However Westminster Gov. still can’t get enough masks for Nurses and Care workers who are looking after very sick patients with virus .
Others. Suggest testing but Nurses etc have to wait up to 14-16 days for results . Wouldn’t help testing spectators queueing outside stadium .
Gov have many priorities, more important than football . Tories more interested in Rugby Union, Polo etc .

{Ed007's Note - The nurses and doctors wasting PPE while making stupid & insensitive music videos won't be helping stocks either.}

I haven’t seen any PPE equipment wasted on N of I Tv, except those worn by the traitors of nurses who treated that Boris Johnston idiot . If the medical people had any sense they would have allowed the virus to run its course with him.

{Ed007's Note - There's plenty of videos out there and plenty were shown on BBC1 last night - nothing shows caring and professionalism like dancing around in hospital wards while people around you are are dying for social media likes eh?}

It’s refreshing to know at a time when NHS staff were never more popular and appreciated by the UK population for the wonderful work that they are doing during this health crisis, that we can find someone to give a contrary view .
I am glad I don’t live near a spoilsport who expects all work and no play .
Must be great fun in his street.

{Ed007's Note - Tell that to cancer patients - including kids - who have had operations & treatment cancelled, tell that to the family of people who are in the latter stages of dementia and not receiving the care they need. Imagine if you are sitting with a loved one in their final moments and nurses and doctors are dancing in the corridor. If you know how to do internet searches (Google) there's plenty of people saying the same thing.
It must be great to be THAT old you still think everything the BBC tell you is 100% true.}

Patients in hospitals that are treating Virus patients have virus patients far away and isolated from their other patients
It’s ridiculous that nurses should express relief and happiness after twelve hours looking after patients, many in their last days .
They should remember that people who have. No one in hospital, disapprove of their behaviour and people who have family members very ill and didn’t see nurses didn’t complain.
