on the goalie issue fellow bhoys, shay given will not be joining us, aston villa is hie preffered destination, man city will take 5 or 6 million for him rather than letting him go on loan, i have it on word that we will sign the honduran no 1 keeper as zaluska is going back to poland, cervi will be the no 2 keeper, and on the strikers, we will not sign shane long, from what ive been told we have opened contract negotiations with shakhtar donetsk striker fernandinho, my 2nd cousin is graeme stipe, an agent for a lot of the deals brokered by celtic, rangers, and hearts.

shakhtar donetsk striker fernandinho is on 30k aweek no chance plus why would he join a club with no champion league football when he first team at one that does stop posting pish lets be realistic know one that's first team at a club with champion league will go to a club without it fact. . and not trying to make u guy feel bad in some way by saying without champion league you'll not sign him just pointing out its very unlikely to happen if u think u can still sign ppl that are first team at clubs in champion league then u are sadly sadly wrong ( but such a sighing would be gr8 to see in the spl ) plus you don't need a mc as i have said b4 all u guy need is 2 dc and a gk

Yeah I can see Given ending up at Villa now that Friedel joined Spurs. He'd be first choice, earn a better wage and play in the EPL. Great keeper but not sure how many years we'd get out of him.

Having said that I'd love to see us try and get him regardless. In my view it depends how much Man City want for him and whether they'll sell to Villa (who not so long ago were a top 6 club) as to whether or not we make a serious go at signing him.

As for Fernandinho I agree - it's more than likely a nonsense rumour. I'm sure Arsenal, Inter and a few Spanish sides have been linked with him already. {Ed007's Note - Especially if Mark Hughes gets the AV job. Everyone thought Davie Moyes was a certainty till yesterday}

Fernandinho is a central midfielder not a striker he is a top quality player and I would love to see him at Celtic! So I hope what you say is true! Can't see it Ed have you heard anything? Also the link with us and Pablo Piatti he was one of the best attacker in Spain this year could Celtic really pull off such a transfer? What do you think Ed? {Ed007's Note - I seriously doubt we could afford Fernandinho and Shakhtar. As for Piatti, I seriously doubt we could sign him. I'm not very keen on South Americans playing in the SPL TBH, there hasn't been many success stories}

Emir Spahic? Pretty sure Sir Alex or Arsene Wenger tried to sign him and couldnt meet the ridiculous £20-30 million price tag. Non starter. {Ed007's Note - Montpellier quoted Arsenal £25 million in 2010 for him}

I hope Zaluska get's a chance for Celtic, because I'm a Rangers fan haha

As a rangers fan i would rather see Forster in goal i think Zaluska is a very good keeper i have no idea why he has not been given a chance with celtic and as for Tomas Cerny if Mcgregor Leaves Ranger i hope we take Cerny

You obviously didn't watch much of us pre-season last year.

Bar maybe one game in the Emirates cup he was shocking. IMO at fault or should've done better for probably 2 or 3 of the 4 (aggregate) Braga goals and didn't cover himself in glory away to Utrecht either (though no-one did to be fair).

He got worse and worse with each 1st team game and by the start of the season we were crying out for a new keeper. I think had he played well in these games we'd have stuck with him in goal all season with no new keeper coming in or maybe someone in on loan as 2nd or 3rd choice. Unfortunately his form forced Lennon to look at other options.

Basically he's never put a foot wrong as a backup for us but when shoved in at the deep end with the responsibility of being number 1 he crumbles. It's weird though because he was the best keeper by a mile outside Boruc/McGregor when he was at Dundee United.

Craig Mackail Smith will not be joining Celtic and is set to join Norwich City instead.

Just shows you how bad the old firm has become when Celtic lose out on a transfer to Norwich and we (Rangers) look like losing Boogey to some one like QPR both old firm teams cannot compete with the english championship clubs in the transfer market or with wage demands. the only thing we can offer is european football of some sort but players nowadays are more interested in big money than playing on the big stage ( sky tv money has ruined our game ) plus the fact that none of our teams can agree to a new set up even though they know the current one is PI5H.

Tonydom {Ed007's Note - Well made point Tony. The Sky money papers over the cracks in the EPL and Championship IMO. without all their hyped up presentation and graphics etc a lot of the games are actually very poor.}

Adam Rooney is a good player and ripped Celtic's defence to s**t, people talking about players not being ''Celtic class'' Celtic class is non-existant at the moment. None of the players are classy some stand out in a very ordinary second rate team.
Simples.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

On that day mate my gran could've ripped Celtic's defence apart and she's been 6 feet under for 30 years. My point is that I wouldn't sign him just on that performance (as it's easily the team's worst of last season or at least tied with Utrecht) but yeah I'd take Adam Rooney.

Free (well nearly free) transfer, fairly young, standout for ICT most of the season and could flourish at Celtic where he'll have more opportunities in front of goal. I'd only consider him though if we were to lose (at least 1) 2 of Murphy, Stokes and Samaras and bring in a new target man striker who's better than what we have already.

As for Celtic class, Kayal and Izaguirre for me are two of the best players we've had since the Larsson era and it's no surprise that top English clubs have been scouting them all season. The only other two that come close are Boruc and McGeady IMO.

"who will be the next gk??? i ve heard that cervi will be the number 1, zaluska going to poland, and r.thomson second gk. is that true??? {Ed007's Note - I hope not!}"

Goalkeeper is clearly a priority.

Cervi has been behind Zaluska in the pecking order so he can't be any better.

Aside from that he seems a bit unorthodox - his style reminds me of Ma Kalambay from Hibs a few years back who was a solid enough keeper on his day but extremely error prone and had several howlers. I don't think many managers go for that and would rather have a keeper that kept things simple.

I can see Zaluska leaving. He was cracking for United and only behind Boruc/McGregor at the time, has been solid whenever he's had to cover a game and I can see why we signed him but not good enough as a number 1 as was proven last summer. He'd be a good signing for the likes of Killie, Hibs etc. But outside the OF Randolph, Kello, Pernis and Langfield are all better keepers IMO which makes him simply not good enough for a team trying to win the league and get into Europe.

Aside from the possibility of the scouts having found some potentially world class (and importantly - English speaking) keeper that'd cost 100k from the depths of obscurity Given - who is/was world class and has stated an interest in joining - has to be our main target IMO.

to the guy who said that chris burke was in tlks with celtic that isn't true as he is an ex rangers player

He was brought up through the Celtic youth system, so the fact he played for r*ngers wouldn't really be a factor if he was in talks.

Hope they keep Samaras as he is a, you guessed it, a big dumpling. Fraser Forster is too big a dumpling he is a very big imposing character therefore I don't want him to re-sign. haha.

Well you got told wrong. Bouhlarouz is in Brazil.

I don't even see the deal happening. . Dutch national team regular, plays at CL semi-finalists Stuttgart. OK Stuttgart in need of offloading players and freshening up because of their league form but surely there must be interest from the EPL and Eredivisie/Bundesliga sides for this guy? He's a quality player.

Bojan to sign for Celtic in a 6 month loan deal(Can be recalled at weeks notice), Barca want him to get regular first team football as does the player himself. Crosas has been quick to suggest to Bojan it would be a great move to advance his career. The relationship between the two clubs make this move a possible if not a little bit a long shot. His love for the club as well as the club rate him very highly no way he is getting sold so loan deal suits the club and player.

to this gauy and just about all celtic fans. what is this relationship stuff yous keep going on about between celtic and barca? yous have played them a few times true but that's about it as far as i can see hope someone can clear this up for me.

also u have no chance of getting bojan he will go on loan to an epl club like bolton or to italy/france the spl is so so poor and celtic won't have much european football either. so the standard that he will be playing at won't help him.

ttb {Ed007's Note - I have no idea where the idea comes from either, if you look through history, CFC have had a better relationship with Real Madrid that started in the Jock Stein era. Celtic fans jumped on the Barca thing when Henke signed for them!}

Believable1 Unbelievable0

Spot on ed you the man, some of these guys have been on the wacky backy when they say we're getting some barca players even on loan ; just look at wee marc crosas it didn't exactly work out for him did it ( although I did think he got a FAIR CRAIC) WOT YOU SAY YOUNG ED?????
MARTY BHOY {Ed007's Note - He never really got a chance, but he was a bit lightweight for the SPL IMO}

"to this gauy and just about all celtic fans. what is this relationship stuff yous keep going on about between celtic and barca?"

When the Crosas deal happened there was talk of a few more in later transfer windows, with them effectively acting as a parent club. I'm sure we've tried to get other players - definitely Jeffren (club accepted but he wanted to stay and now plays so the idea is out of the window) and possibly a few that weren't publicised. There was rumours of a number of them though e.g. Caceres (before his Juventus move; now at Sevilla), Bartra (probably just rumour).

I'm also pretty sure someone from the club said in a press interview as much as "we have a good relationship with Barca so we may look to do more of these deals in the future". As a result there've been rumours of loan deals ever since.

As for Bojan I don't even see him moving on loan so this is a no-go from the start. He gets a game. {Ed007's Note - We bought Crosas for £400k, rising to £1.5m with add ons in 2008. We have never signed or had any player on loan from Barca since Crosas so this talk of a "relationship" doesn't make much sense to me. I agree with you that el campesino will not allow Bojan to go out on loan though}

Banter.

Just thought I'd list some youngish Barcelona fringe players/benchwarmers to save people the bother of having to check Google/Wikipedia for them before they claim we've made an loan offer. It also goes without saying that all of these players frequently attend tea parties at Casa del Crosas.

Bojan
Jeffren
Marc Barta
Andreu Fontas
Martin Montoya
Marc Muniesa
Thiago
Jonathon dos Santos

Right bhoys lets be honest, celtic are going to sign forgieners and low league players that no one has heard of so no point in talking about shane long and others! And jack wilshire??? We'd have as much chance as signing messi! Lets just hope the foreiners and others turn out to be as good as kayal, izzaguire, hooper and ki.

Hail hail

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Fair point.

On that note though I'm genuinely interested in seeing what Rangers come up with this summer. It seems that Celtic have gotten their act together when it comes to scouting players. Izaguirre and Kayal were total unknowns and are easily two of the season's best signings all things considered i.e. the money we paid and their prior reputation (i.e. total unknowns).

I just wonder whether or not the Rangers scouts have been doing the same in finding rough diamonds from the depths of obscurity in the absence of cash ready to pounce or whether their targets will be more predictable close to home signings (SPL, EPL, Championship) or a reasonably expensive one or two from Europe like Jelavic.
