Hey Ed- long time no speak!

Have I missed anything?

daviet {Ed007's Note - Hi Davie, long time indeed. If I had kept notes of what you missed I would have had a 2 bit book deal and cancelled newspaper serialisation to my name (but I would have had the Guinness deal sewn up)! I hope you are keeping well mate, nice to see you kicking around again.}

Hey Daviet welcome back, at least you have survived longer than your downmarket south side club. hail hail Timalloy

I say give McFadden a chance. So what if he's rejected us before, if he does the business if/when we sign him this time around then that will all be forgotten about. Any player in a Celtic jersey will have my support provided they are giving 100% on the pitch.
Kevbhoy

Believable0 Unbelievable0

The problem is not him giving 100% the problem is getting him on the pitch without going via the treatment room

Agree0 Disagree0

I ageee with completly, this most likely spells the end for hooper though :@(

Does anyone know if Germinal Beerschot will receive a percentage of the fee if we sell Wanyama? {Ed007's Note - There has been no mention of it.}

Believable0 Unbelievable0

I don't think it would matter even if there had been a sell-on clause in the deal. The club doesn't exist any more.
Let's just say they "did a Sevco"! lol

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

Yep, they have sell on clause

Ska bhoy {Ed007's Note - Who is due the money due too though?}

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jun 2013 10:59:29
ED007 according to reports there is a 5% sell on clause.
I hope if (when) we sell big Vic we insert a sell on clause too. Timalloy {Ed007's Note - His original team/club Germinal Beerschot no longer exist Tim.}

24 Jun 2013 18:02:13
Hi Ed, I saw that there is interest in McGeady from a few English clubs (4+ million fee). Do we still have a sell-on clause where we would get a percentage if a deal goes through?

Thanks,

Ontario Bhoy {Ed007's Note - We would only be due a percentage of any fee that exceeded the original.}

Line-up I'd like to see next season, also post yours, share thoughts.

1. Forster

Matthews Van Djik Wilson Izzy

Forrest Brown Ledley sammy

Balde Commons

Just a rough Idea, I know Mulgrews one of Lennons favourites, Sammy isn't on the ball on the time, (I am assuming Wanyama and Hooper are offskies) Rogic Ambrose Watt Stokes all up there too. It's really hard to judge. I think this is one of the best squads we've had since M'ON era. Hail Hail Gandalf the Green.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Gandalf, I was on here the other day, wishing we could go back to a 2-3-5,
but that's not going to happen, so i've come up with a new formation . it's a
4-3-2-1 . so assuming vic and hoops go
forster
mathews van dijk wilson izaguirre

brown mulgrew kayal

rogic sammy

balde

subs, commons, watt, lustig, zaluska, forrest . and there's no place for stokes, mcgeoch, twardwik or several others .

our subs and guys who can't get in would win the spl . it's a massive task keeping them all happy, and remember vic and hoops might stay. shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

That's exactly what we needed, more quality in the squad. Results domestically were pretty poor at times more competition will help this. We will also be able to freshen the squad up more regularly. Look at the displays after Lenny gave some players a wee sunshine break. green jhedi

Milan defender 20 yo Mattio de Sciglio, currently playing on left wing for Italy in confederations is on 1m a year, that's about £13k a week. Made some tidy defensive tackles against Brasil.
Old RFC were bringing guys like that to ibrox. Now we've got the money.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Mate if you are talking £s, 1m a year is over 19, 200 per week . if you are talking euro , converts to around £16, 500 per week .
and that's before n.i . insurance, pension plans, win bonuses . a lot of money for a 20 year old . shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

It was a million euros shammy. Today's rate £16, 297 a week.
But we need to spend bigger and think bigger over these years without SEVCO. We have supposedly £25m from last CL to invest in squad. A better squad hopefully last 16 again.

Agree0 Disagree0

LOL. Mattia De Sciglio is one of the most promising full-backs in world football who is fast becoming a mainstay in the AC Milan team. He is playing left wing-back, not left wing. If you knew anything about football you'd see that yourself though. If you are suggesting Celtic go for him, I suggest you increase your medication.

Agree0 Disagree0

De Sciglio can play left back. Seen him play there for Milan. If your suggesting he's a left wing back but can't play left full back your embarrassing yourself. I will at least agree he's way beyond our reach as Milan have ver high hopes for him. Possibly there highest rated prospect as El Shaarawi might be sold according to Gallliani.

Agree0 Disagree0

He is a left back end of! He is being touted as the new Maldini! No chance of him going anywhere other than up

Tompo88

Agree0 Disagree0

I know he's a left-back you clown. What I said was he is not playing "left wing" for Italy as suggested by the OP. He is playing left wing-back as Italy play with three centre backs and wing-backs. He started as a right-back but Abate plays there, so for AC Milan he plays left-back. Simple really.

can someone please tell me what ambition wanyama is showing if he moves to cardiff? from scoring against barcelona to getting relegated nxt season is pretty low

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Im gutted that Victor is moving. I think £ SIGNS have got to the board. Victor would not consider these lesser teams I personally think he is being pushed. GUTTED. Julieghirl

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Jun 2013 19:35:06
What ambition are Celtic showing letting one of our best players go.we are financially in a good place so we don't need to sell wanyama this year.if we are wanting to have another great run in Europe, we need to be keeping all our best players

Pauly-chuckles

Agree0 Disagree0

Victor is not being pushed. He has stated he wants to play in the EPL but wants regular games. I do however think he might be being badly advised. There is no use in a player of his potential signing for the biggest cheque at his age. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

I am not sure why he is being rushed out the door either. Is it the agent? Is Vic really desperate to go so soon? Celtic did the same with Ki as soon as there was serious interest and the difference this time I think; is if we hold back a while we will get double.

Dont be silly Julie its Vic and vics agent that are doing the pushing(he could sign a new contract and put all this to bed but My guess is he won't lol)

Sorry Dannybhoy i'm not convinced that victor want to go either. JK

The issue with Hooper is he can remain at paradise and continue to enjoy himself and CL football, albeit for lower weekly wage than elsewhere, but he makes it up massively next summer as a free agent and pockets his own £5m signing on fee for four years. Celtic getting nothing.
Hooper is in the strong position as his football has put him in demand. He wins every possible way; staying and signing on, going now or running contract down to next year.
Regardless, we want him to stay and we thank him for three great years service.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Agree on the service bit.But if he won't sign an extension then he must not start ahead of any other forward we have this season.Sign and go in the summer for a fee, or go this window.he must not be allowed to go pre contract in jan. green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

The problem GJ is that there is not a lot Celtic can do about it if he wants to be an awkward sod. He could in theory sit where he is until January and sign a pre-contract agreement with someone else. He wouldn't be the first player to do it and he wouldn't be the last either. He might see it as the perfect chance to make a financial killing. And the club couldn't stop him either. The club cannot make him do anything in this situation. They can make him stay until next year, but they can't make him go in this window.
We are about to find out if Hooper is a mercenary or someone who cares about the club. He is not bound by anyone to do anything so he carries a lot of clout regarding what happens.
Remember, players do not tend to be as passionate about a club as it's fans are, unless the player is also a fan and I don't ever remember Hooper claiming to be a lifelong Celtic fan. He sees the club as his employer at the end of the day. If he goes down the route of financial gain then it will hurt the club financially and the fans emotionally but he is entitled to do it. He signed a contract and if he honours it by staying until the end and then walks away then he isn't doing anything wrong.
For me though, the ideal situation would be that he signs a new deal and stays long term. I like him.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

It could go the other way, if Hooper stays' then the premier will be too easy for celtic, and some of the players may not perform the way they would if the league was competitive, dare I say it, get knocked out of Europe, we need a strong league, and we just don, t have it, We I.m afraid we are the weakest league in Europe, I would sell hooper now, and get some return, for him,,, just a thought,

Agree0 Disagree0

A player sitting on the payroll not getting a game for a season isn't good for either party. Sign up another three years or go now for £5m.

Agree0 Disagree0

Id punt him on first decent bid that comes in, he don't wanna be here, ain't done much in the jersey since feb. bhoywonder

Agree0 Disagree0

@ 4)
I agree 100% but it has happened. We'll have to wait and see how it transpires over then next few days or weeks. I think £4m or more has to be a good deal for the club. If he still had 2 or more years left then I think it would take a lot more for the club to be tempted to sell him but let's remember, the board are shrewd cookies. It is because of them we are financially secure and healthy so they really don't need me or anyone else to tell them how things have to be with transfer fees! lol They know better than any of us how it works.
I do think he will leave though. His pitch-side interview after the Cup final said a lot about his intentions when he was asked if he was looking forward to more days like that at Celtic.

Hail Hail
ChrisBhoy

Agree0 Disagree0

@ChrisBhoy: Your right mate, the balls in his court. What I was saying was that if he does not leave, and it will only be if he does not fancy what's on offer, then he should be back up. We will, at least, have Balde and Watt, with young Atajic as the third striker. In my opinion all should be picked before a player who is planning on leaving and depriving us of a fee.

This is not meant to be a dig at Hooper. The guy has scored a lot of goals and been a good signing. He will leave with my best wishes. But he cannot be allowed to postpone the advancement of our younger players.green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

What if he signs up for an additional three, but gets it written in he can go from next summer and get a % of the transfer fee wherever he goes. Another club buying out a 3 year contract would have to pay more, £8m?, and both hooper and Celtic benefit.

Thistle beat them 11-0 away in the '86-'87 season(that would be 1886-1887 season!).

I don't know anything about football in northern ireland, what standard are cliftonville . are we looking at spfl 1/2/3

also, I think a pertinent question about a team from n.i. what side of the sectarian divide do their fans come from . shammy

Agree0 Disagree0

Cliftonville are a nationalist/republican/catholic side mate so there should be no trouble at either game unless sevco fans turn up

Agree0 Disagree0

Shammy, don't bring yourself to the darkside level by raising the subject mentioned. We are trying to rise above that garbage. Leave that to the cess pit across the city please.

I think we should try and buy Bothroyd and Doyle. We should sell Hooper - he is working his ticket, and is decent at best. I would take £4m as he can sign a pre contract in Jan, then we get nowt. Think we should also try and get Mike Williamson from Newcastle, and get rid of Ambrose, as he is custard. Don't know if it true about Forrest and Fulham - but 5m would be good business for the most overrated player at the club

Believable0 Unbelievable0

Boothroyd and Doyle? Why? we just signed Balde and he's younger and cheaper.Time to start giving our young strikers their heads.green jhedi

Agree0 Disagree0

We should go for Defoe, he would be a great asset, we have to spend for Europe, we just are.nt good enough,

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah man both those guys are 30ish, I'd be disappointed if we broke our transfer rule of signing young guys for those 2. Santa Cruz defo but not Doyle, btw I'm not starting a rumour. I better not wake up and find this om stv tomorrow to deflect sevco rubbish
