Merry Christmas to all, not only our fans but to those from all walks of life,
With the tragic events from George sq, you never know what fate has in store for you.

Taken from Charlie Chaplin`s favorite song.

Smile though your heart is aching, smile though your heart is breaking.

We cannot comprehend what they are going through
with our thoughts, prayers and heavy hearts.

apologies for the non festive mood.

{Ed007's Note - Merry Christmas mate, try not to let things you have no effect on get you down buddy, we all get a bit maudlin at this time of year but things like the George Square incident should make us appreciate how lucky we are with our lot in life compared to some people out there.}

Thanks Ed, very true however having been there and done that with my youngest son ( now back to full health thank god) it brings it very close to home.

Hi Ed

Just like to add my xmas wishes to you, your clan and also to ALL on here

Looks like you were again ahead of the curve with Tonev to Werder Bremen it probably be the best all round now so a pat da head for that

But that will leave us a bit light wide as a reckon both Mubarak (& Ambrose keep it nice folks its Xmas!) are bound for the Africa cup both their respective teams usually run deep into these tournament's so be away a while IMO

Lastly, delighted at the SFA for not allowing MA to take a bigger stake in the Bile! nothing else would have been acceptable but should lead to Llambias position being untenable IMO

Merry Christmas for when it comes everyone! I hope you have a wonderful time with family and friends. I for one am envious of all the food you will all be eating as I have body building commitments. how about we have a day of reminiscing our favourite Celtic moments for a day and leave out the worrying and debates? What ya think ed?

My moment has to be the Larssons chip against Klos.

Am I the only one who.is not bothered if we don't sign guidetti. I feel he ain't that good and there is better options out there at a better price.
Guy is going to demand high wages and I think he is massivley over rated. Get one hard tackle in on him and that's the boy out the game because to me it seems like he dosent like to get stuck in about a game.
Who would you all like to see up front in the hoops?
Anyway happy holidays all
Have a good ane

Believable1 Unbelievable1

I wasn't convinced at the start either mate. Only prob is if he goes who are we left with. Stokes the spl level striker. Griffiths the impact player and scepovic the whole lot still to prove player. Hopefully we can sort a deal for j g. As for other options I will never understand why we didn't spend a million on stevie May. Perhaps the guy ciftci from Utd might be a shout.

Agree0 Disagree0

Your not the only one mate. JG is very overrated and brings little to the team. I honestly believe that if LG had the same amount of game time he would have scored just as much if not more goals. Our best striker has been kept on the bench but I think that is about to change.

Agree0 Disagree0

I'd like us to sign Kayode. Young, Quick and a much cheaper option looks to have more game about his and runs from midfield not just a box player

Agree0 Disagree0

Hew1888

How do we know Griffiths is only an impact striker? If he's given a chance, which I hope he will be, then he could well be a 90 minute striker. When he is only ever brought on as a sub then he's not going to show his true potential.
I really hope he gets a chance against Ross County. He deserves it and I hope he bags a brace to silence those who question his ability.

Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Sorry hew1888, my question was intended for garybhoy.

Agree0 Disagree0

I am very sure if he starts more he will score more and I am not doubting his ability Chris. But do you honestly think he is good enough to take us beyond inter or into the champs league next season.

Agree0 Disagree0

I rate Scepovic. Think there's a goalscorer in there. It's late December and he's started more Europa games han he has league games. that's bad for the lad and for the dynamics of the team. With Guidettis slump in form I hope he gets a run, not least because he's actually a Celtic player.

Agree0 Disagree0

Gary
I honestly do think he is good enough. He isn't going to challenge Lionel Messi for any awards but I do believe he's good enough for the level we're competing at, including Europa League.
If we fail against Inter then it probably won't be because of any one player (except maybe Ambrose, he has the ability to lose a game single handed!) but from the strikers we have at the club I'd personally say Griffiths is the best of them and he can prove it if the manager has a bit of faith and gives him a run of full games.

Agree0 Disagree0

I wouldn't expect the guy to beat inter himself it would take a massive team effort over 2 games but we would need the quality upfront to get through. Same with champ league we need a quality striker if we are to get to the group. And I don't think he is at that level. But hey if it turns out he is I will be just as happy as you mate. We shall see. Hope you have a nice Christmas mate and all the best to everyone on this site.

Agree0 Disagree0

Guidetti arrived and was instantly the golden eyed bhoy . It was hard luck, and applause if Guidetti missed .
The rest of our strikers were never treated in the same awe .
Either Griffiths or Sceptovic could be as good if given a run and same encouragement .
Of course if we can get Guidetti without breaking our signing or wage limit we should buy him.

Agree1 Disagree0

Perhaps our wage structure and sining policy need to be changed though Chris? I feel that's where we're falling short.

Nice to see the fans sticking by a player when things aren't going so well.

If you remember the guy had hardly kicked a ball for 2 years before we signed him and I think at the start he was running on pure adrenalin.

I will also maintain my point that RD is pushing the squad too hard too quickly to achieve his desired fitness levels and when you do too much too soon the players aren't used to it so they become tired quicker as they aren't getting the proper rest required. That is when you pick up niggles and it is no surprise that we have had already had at least 15 players missing games with strains etc.

Like an earlier poster said if we pass up on him who are we likely to get in?

Agree0 Disagree1

Sorry I think JG is a good player for us I would not brake the wage structure to get him but if he falls in to that then I would be a happy Tim Scepovic I think he is quality if he can get the game time to prove In RD I trust so I will leave it until the January window closes to see what we have

Agree0 Disagree0

Same to you Gary mate, and everyone else who follows our Bhoys.
On the topic of Guidetti, remember he won't cost a fortune as far as a fee is concerned. It'll be the wages that are the real challenge for our club. I know he's going through a quiet spell in front of goal but e has talent for all to see. The thing is, so does Griffiths and Scepovic. They are all goalscorers, it's just a matter of getting the best from any of them.

Hail Hail and Ho Ho Merry Christmas everyone and please spare a thought for the families involved in the George Square disaster, as well as all those who are homeless, alone, in pain and in a worse position than most of us. Tragedy takes many forms and is the result of many things no-one can predict. Let's be grateful for whatever we have however little that might be. Amen

Agree0 Disagree0

JG is simply putting himself in the shop window. I can only see him signing for us if he has no better options. If a premiership team comes in even a bottom six he will sign for them in a flash. He reminds me of Craig Bellamy in the sense that he says a lot of great thinks about the fans etc, but doesn't sign!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - He can't negotiate with EPL teams in January though, STB.}

Scepovic looks decent he's seems to have more pace about him now than I can remember when he started he does find good areas in the box but for now either he's trying too hard to impress or he's short of confidence as he was signed to be our new goalscorer and he's found himself playing second fiddle but like Griffiths needs a run of games in the team to prove he's good enough to be our main striker

Agree0 Disagree0

Jim Jim
I don't want to be seen as a Lecky boy for the board, but I would hope that if we are to up our wage structure and start operating at a loss we might run into difficulties long term . Our turn-over is not increasing and we could only contemplate breaking our wage structure for someone who will definitely help us. Signing a player who will "definitely "!help us is the big problem.

Agree0 Disagree0

24 Dec 2014 21:09:19
I love the fact that ever time we contemplate paying a higher wage the good old argument about running into financial difficulties comes into it. Currently the crowds are poor because fans correctly won't pay their hard earned money to watch the dross currently calling themselves Celtic players. If we were to pay a bit more and got in a few players who got the fans excited then the stadium would be full every home game.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - (clap)

We are still attracting more than our core standard attendance of the 90's .
Thee point of the board bringing in more quality would attract more fans, can be turned on its head by saying more fans paying more money would allow the board to bring in more players
The economic climate we live in has as much to do with dwindling supporters as the quality of football.

Chris

I can't believe you are coming out with statements like that RE the money when you know for a fact that the season tickets are paid for but people can't be bothered going because the standard of player on show is so poor.

I want you to look at average attendances compared to transfer fees paid out for every season you will see that attendances have been consistent even when the club weren't spending. The issue is that every previous manager has had a decent amount to spend in their first season and then been starved of funds every other season. RD hasn't had his first season transfer kitty and fans are right to stay away as he isn't going to get any decent funds from now on.

Agree0 Disagree0

Season tickets may be paid for but last season and this season they were sold with a £100 discount . This year in particular the number of season tickets have decreased and so has the casual sales. Players at the same time are demanding more and more wages .
It's easy to lay the blame at the board for all Celtic's woes . I have to say that may be true, but also our fans can help the club, by more support and more encouragement to the players, instead of throwing the regular abuse at Ambrose and others .
