I will be slated again, but here goes.RD is second rate,he is building what? A Fit Team? Who will press High and play ticky, tacky to the man up front. Who will scoop the ball in?. BS, No One is fitter than 2 seasons ago,or maybe they are but have just lost their spirt, the team is sh__ ,second rate, not even English league 1,or for those who do. Not like that. Comparison, seconda in Italy or Spain. The Board have found a week Scandianavian who will do as they say( one good thing is that we all know now that he ignores any football advice that is given by John Collins, which at least shows he has as all piece of savvy. His signings are also Sh__ no spine to stand up,he says he wanted to sign Boyata for the past 2 seasons, then maybe he should be at Brentford

What is RD meant to do if the club won't spend money? He will make the best he can out what we have by signing young players with good potential! He is the right man for the job! Give home another year or two and our team will be the way he wants it! Too many of u are far too negative! Rightly so if we don't get in the CL But not before! It's our boards fault if we do not start spending a bit more we can not follow the business model set by teams like Porto

I'll reserve my judgement til after Tuesday's game! Hoping we'll have enough to get through! But if we get put out the champions league 3 times in the past year by teams of the level we're playin then questions need to be asked further up the ladder than RD! Let's just hope we prove we're a better team than Malmo! Who I thought we're ordinary!

RD can only p*ss with the cockerel he has been given.

I have personally seen the green shoots of improvement in guys like Bitton and Griffiths and that was part of his remit, getting the best out of average players.

I would love to see him get us into the Champions League on Tuesday night to give him a bit of leverage with PL and the board.

If we don't get there I fear that he will do a Lennon and decide that he can't carry on with one hand tied behind his back.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 10:36:39
Who would you rather have somebody like LVG,who thinks the answer to every problem is to go out and spend more obscene amounts of money on a supposedly better player ,to camouflage his lack of man management and coaching abilities.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 12:17:08
All this talk of lack of investment is a smoke screen. Malmo. Total cost of the team was £3mill. Maribor, top earner on € 4000 a week. Another team put together for minimum funds. Teams from Greece, Sweden, Belgium, Switzerland, leagues that produce similar incomes to the SPL have teams regularly qualifying for CL. We will never win it with the finances we have but we should qualify no problem. Maribor were an average side and knocked us out. Malmo are an average side and we should be beating these teams. So this is nothing to do with finance its about the ability of the manager to get the team playing and the real hunger of the players to want to win. this is not about finance. We have more available than them. Let's see who wants it more on Tuesday. That's all it's about.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 13:00:07
RD is doing something that most managers in our financial state need to start doing and that's building on youth and home grown players, its not a one or two season project its a four or five, this is what we need to look at if we want any future in europe and anyone who actually knows football and grassroots football can see that

Agree1 Disagree0

Our problem is our neighbours and I don't mean the tribute act, the English league is our problem. When others teams see guys like Ross McCormack going for 9 million they want us to pay silly money for players. Also teams in our own league shaft us (1.5 million for Ciftci).

Teams from Scandanavia and Slovenia can pick up players for buttons because the selling teams know they don't have the money.

If big Peter keeps telling the masses that we can buy 6 million pound players (and never delivers) then these smaller clubs will believe we have money and increase the price.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 16:12:39
NiallH another smokescreen and excuses. I'm not talking about buying English players I am telling you the Malmo's and the Maribors , teams from Belgium, Greece, Slovakia, etc who have less money to spend than we do produce teams every season that qualify for CL. What advantage did Maribor have over us? What advantage do Nalmo have over us? Stop blaming The English wage structure for our lack of success in qualifying. It's a level playing field in the qualifiers we are not competing against the big clubs so like many Celtic fans you are confusing lack of success with a lack of funds. None of these teams have any money. It's about desire, tactics and ability. We should be home and hosed here and yet again we are struggling. Nothing to do with England.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 21:50:53
Johnny

I'm not talking about buying English players. Look at the guy from Zagreb. They are looking for 4 million for him because of interest from England so it pushes the price up for us. If Maribor and Malmo were after him Zagreb know that neither of them have 4 million so they would pick him up for 500k. Being so close to an inflated market is killing us.

With regards to RD he has inherited a team capable of winning the League year in year out but not good enough for Europe. To achieve European success instantly was impossible for him last year and will continue to be the norm unless we buy in a few quality players. Also the timing of the season doesn't help us against the Scandanvian teams.

Hopefully the bhoys have sorted out the silly passing and dodgy defending for this game on Tuesday. This is the most lucrative game(money wise) that we will play. I would like to see Charlie come in for izzy and try and fit commons in at some point, we need players on the park who can come up with goals, Celtic shouldn't sit back and hold out for a draw, but instead, go for it. I didn't see anything from this team on Wednesday apart from the 2 preventable goals. In every aspect we are far superior to this team, my prediction is 2-0 to Celtic. Champions league here we come!!! HH

Would anyone be happy to see brown fill in at right back if lustig don't make it? I know we love him in midfield but a game of this importance we can't rely on Ambrose and Janko is untested. Fisher has hardly featured. Ad agree Mulgrew has to take Izzys place

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 23:26:44
Just don't want Izzy or Ambrose anywhere near the starting 11 on Tuesday purely because the two of them are in capable of going through 90 mins without having some kind of major blunder, don't mind who fills there boots between Fisher Mulgrew Tierney or Janko just as long as we leave those two out . Yes every player can make a blunder but those two consistently cost us at this level

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 00:04:58
Brown at right back . Maybe Bailey up front to add a bit of height to the attack .
The eleven we played last week scored 3 goals and I would be happy with 3 goals on Tuesday .

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 07:07:46
Do people forget a couple of seasons ago where Mulgrew played left back. He was absolutely awful. No positional sense at all. That's why he became a 'utility nan' as he couldn't play his own position. Izzy can be a nightmare, but I'd rather him than Charlie

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2015 11:46:34
And conceded 2,now lustig is out and izzy is deplorable If the Malmö coach is worth his salt he would try and exploit izzy. Would you be happy to throw janko fisher or ambrose to RB in our biggest game in a couple of years?

21 Aug 2015 19:47:47
The biggest money spinner game in our history that's what this game on tues will be billed as. Quite rightly so in many aspects.Question is will RD get it right. Will he attack? Or will he do a Quarabag? This is the real issue. No matter what tactics RD uses just make sure you get it right mate. Lessons must be learned from Maribor and wed game. We don't need to chase the game when we are winning, play it sensibly we must learn from previous mistakes. Its not the SPFL where we can make a mistake and not get punished or if we do we usually 4-0 up or just score amother. This is Europe and even the likes of Berget can punish us.Over to you RD, PROVE to us you are what you say you are.

Greenandwhiteknight as promised I have some football tips for Saturday (putting them up tonight as I will not be about much on here over weekend due to a family wedding (Saturday) and a christening (Sunday) NOT the same couple lol
Leicester are 6/4 to beat Tottenham
Swansea are 11/10 away to Sunderland
West Ham 13/10 to beat Bournemouth
Dunfermline 4/6 away at Peterhead
perm 3 from 4 = 5 bets @£2 =£10 total

Both teams to score
Leeds-Sheff Wed (10/11)
Brighton-Blackburn (10/11)
Reading-MKDons (5/6)
Walsall-Coventry (4/5)
I picked these teams as all 8 have scored a few and lost a few
again, perm 3 from 4 same stake above so your £20 should give you a wee interest in the EPL and the Championship games in England and a wee flutter in Scotland
Let's see how my predictions do
Good Luck

My team for tomorrow with injuries knocks and Tuesdays game in mind would be
Bailey
Janko VVD boyata izzy
Gms rogic brown johansen
Commons
Scepovic

For Izzyy play Tierney
For Brown play Mulgrew
For Johansen play Macgregor
Sepovic is away so it will have to be Griffiths
Also play Fisher if fit if not play Ambrose remember Janko cost us two goals against Killie

21 Aug 2015 17:44:11
I'd agree with you Gordo apart from Bailey. I'd keep continuity and stick with Gordon tomorrow. From what Bailey has shown so far he could step in and do very well if Gordon were to pick up a knock

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 18:51:10
I would rest EVERYONE to prevent any injuries, they'll still be match sharp by the time Malmo comes on Tuesday as it's only 6 days after the last match. My team would be.

----------------------Bailly---------------------

---Janko-----Ambrose--------Mulgrew-----Tierney---

---------------Allan-------Rogic-----------------

----GMS---------------Commons----------Stokes-----

----------------------Scepovic--------------------

Bench: Fasan, Fisher, O'Connell, McGregor, McGeouch, Boeriggter.

Bringing on Fisher for Janko and McGregor for Stokes/GMS.

Would love to see this being the team, will never happen mind you.

People may say look at last year against Inverness blah blah blah. End of the day Ronny had only just arrived, players didn't know his system etc. A lot has changed since then. That side should take care of Dundee Utd, allowing us to see some players we haven't seen lately and also putting no one at risk of injury. Also only 3 days before the game we shouldn't really be playing players who will play so soon after Saturday. We are in a great position to do this with no great challenge in the league and should take advantage of it. The league will take care of itself in due course.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 21:04:31
I can't remember Janko costing us one goal never mind two goals against Kilmarnock . I seem to remember the first goal came down Izzys side and the cross in was put in when Ambrose was slow to react . The second was a dodgy penalty given against Izzy maybe I missed something in the run up to both goals but can't fault Janko for any of the goals

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 15:02:14
I do not want to swap Griffiths for Hooper because Griffiths is on fire and is still goal hungry in his prime just turned 25.
I have noted that when we are leading a game in extra time we always seem to be on the back foot defending.
How many times have we lost late goals this way, you could smell it coming on Wednesday, lost concentration at the corner, getting silly bookings. Like Jungle Jim I was very disappointed. Keep the ball at the other end in extra time Celtic, do not give them a hope, please learn from this. really learn.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2015 16:55:56
I thought the same on Wednesday, in the 5 minutes added we had 3 chances to run the ball into the corner and from there it's easy to waste time with throw ins, but we tried to attack through the centre on beat a man! Need to be more streetwise!

Agree4 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 19:49:18
Honesty fellows it is easy to talk in hind sight , if we had managed the fourth goal in extra time , we would be lauding the brave decision to try to attack . If Virgil hadn't the rush of blood we would have been ok .

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 19:54:16
NT87 you are correct, however this is something RD has to install in the tem. His philosophy is to keep on attacking and get another goal. That's what the players are told to do. That's fine in a one off match when you are 3-1 up but not over a two leg European tie. RD needs to learn. I think his tactics need to change as the game changes but we only ever play one way. We need to be more adaptable as a unit and as individuals we need to concentrate till the end. Wed night was a case in point. Johanssen yet again loses his discipline, gets booked players switch off. Same as he did for the penalty with Griffiths a few weeks ago. He is the ideal example of a player that switches off and gets sidetracked. Need to improve.

Agree1 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 14:19:44
Delia says Lustig has a chance to play against Malmo. Ain't that good news if he does there's hope yet. I was gutted for him Wednesday but still think to prevent lengthy injuries he should be moving to CB. Maybe domestically and continue RB in Europe as he is the best we have in that position

Believable4 Unbelievable0

21 Aug 2015 19:57:49
I see what you are saying , in favour but I am not in favour of switching and making changes to the back four . The back four is the one line that we don't want to change.

So we won't break the bank on new signings so would you take a chance on 2 guys being released at villa?
Kieron Richardson left back competion at least and Philip Senderos to replace Virgil?

Wouldn't be ideal for me but think we are beginning to run out of options as I have no faith that we will bring decent talent in from elsewhere.

I agree DRB we should be confident berget scored a worldy and got lucky with the 2nd! They just shot pointlessly from 20 yards or more out! If we tighten up the back we are looking like a CL team! I hope we play the barca system away with big Nir in the holding role and johansen and brown in front just for that extra bit of protection!

First goal is key if we get it then we have a good chance of picking them off on the counter if they score first I worry we will panic.

21 Aug 2015 13:06:16
I really felt flat, disappointed and angry when they scored their second goal as it really took the shine off for me. However I do agree that Celtic were the better team, with better players and although we have defensive concerns - it must be unlikely that the whole team will make as many mistakes as they did on Wednesday.

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 14:49:17
Can't help but think you are trying to convince yourself that the 3-2 score line is better than reality. Had we lost 3-2 in Malmö most would think that we were favourites to qualify and rightly so.we need a better defensive game on Tuesday and that's not just from the defence but from midfielders and the attackers need to hold the ball up better if we are to progress. This is by no way a lost cause but we will need to be on our game for the full match.

Agree1 Disagree1

21 Aug 2015 16:13:55
Think saying a better defence may be slightly out, I think that the defence need to be more focused and less naive VVD was at fault for there second and brown for their first, two of our top players treat this team with respect and we should in reality sweep them away

Hail Hail

Agree2 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 20:05:05
DRB and others. If we were at Malmo in first leg and they won 3-2, you would be saying that this was a great result because we only need to win 1-0 and ad we scored 2 away from home we can score more at home. I would agree with that. 3-2 away from home is a great result. So you think it's better to win 3-2 at home and then play the next game away? Get a grip. That was not a good result. Yes we won but we have it all to do. Our defence is shocking. That's where the issue is. Once again we are up against it in Europe. Same as last season. At this stage last year we were in exactly the same situation. We needed a draw in last game and got beat by the odd goal and went out. Here we are again after 12 months of new training, tactics and two transfer windows. Where is the improvement?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Aug 2015 21:44:49
It wasn't an ideal result but all this extreme negativity is pissing me off! The second goal from them left me feeling flat but we out classed them through out start believing in the team what big Nir has been saying about how the team really want it spreads even more confidence in me!
