Don, t want to sound over the top, but Armstong and GMS seem to have injected a dynamic mobility into the whole team. Really enjoyed the game despite the errors. Think we may have the bones of a right good team, time will tell.

Believable6 Unbelievable0

Theres a few reasons we looked like a different side. Those two over Commons and Forrest are two big ones.

Agree2 Disagree0

Don't forget Bitton instead of Mulgrew and Denayer over Ambrose.

Agree3 Disagree0

Certainly jungle. Just a better footballing team with more than one avenue.

Great fight tonight to get the result. Our passing game was generally superb but at times woeful. That's Celtic and that's how we play.
My big gripe tonight has to be Craig Gordon. This guy is so bloody frustrating for us to watch. At times he is pulling off wonder saves but he has an awful record of pawing the ball back into play! Why the hell can't he just parry it out for a corner because at least we can regroup and defend a corner.
I'm sorry to be negative on the back of a good result but he does my nut in!
Again, great result bhoys, something positive to take to Milan!

Believable2 Unbelievable0

Just give him a pass on this one. He's not Boruc, but he's the best we've had since

Agree0 Disagree1

I honestly can't beleive people are giving Craig Gordon grief! I think he has been our best player this season some of his saves in the group stages put us in the last 32. mistakes by keepers are always highlighted more than out field players cause it usually ends up in a goal but the amount of important saves he has made for us this season is amazing!

Agree1 Disagree0

Better than Forster!?

I stand by my earlier post that I am much more concerned about us winning the league and going for the cups in RD's first season.

I was not expecting us to go through over 2 legs.
On saying that, I must congratulate the team on a superb result - when it seemed very unlikely.
The 'Lions' and the support did their jobs to a man and Celtic Park was rocking and rolling.
The team initially showed those familiar frailties (by the same old faces) in Europe and we were punished as per usual; however instead of capitulating at 2-0 after 13 minutes, we rallied and got right back into it.something we would not have managed earlier in the season.
There were some superb performances from Mathews, Bitton, Armstrong and Brown and others were busy like Griffiths, GMS, Johansen, VVD and Denayer and found it tough going.
Yes there were blunders and below par games; but every one of them gave everything they had to get that result.

The Gordon howler just before half time obviously had an effect on the team and we stuttered at the start of the second half whereas if we had gone in level, who knows what might have happened?
Inter are a class apart from anyone else we have played this season and maybe they tried to settle for what they had; still, we all know we do not have the quality of years gone by - but this is the tie they will all be talking about tomorrow and the team, manager and fantastic support deserve it.

Huge positives and also huge negatives coming from the game tonight. First off that's one of the best games I've seen Celtic play in in years! The pressing, fast passing and movement were fantastic at times. I think Biton has proved himself to be an unsung hero in the team and hope he keeps his place when you know who returns. Armstrong and GMS also putting in good shifts and have brought a new dimension to the team with their pace, skill and fast passing.

With the negatives they were plain to see lazy defending and poor goal keeping. For me as well for every right mathews done he made two mistakes to make up for it.

To conclude we're definitely on the right road to progressing and I'm excited for the road ahead.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

Thought first of all it was an exciting and entertaining game of football ,mistakes were made, but you can't fault the effort and fitness levels of this Celtic side and it was enjoyed and appreciated by most that improvement in passing and movement has been made. given that we stepped up to a different level tonight and competed well augurs well for the future.I also thought the Hungarian referee had a fine game tonight by not issuing cards like confetti and deserves a mention.

Agree1 Disagree0

I've been a huge critic of Bitton but he was majestic tonite. A couple stray passes c. 59, 50 mins but other than that poised and implacable. All respect to him.

This team, this shape. Bring it on.

What about vvd was also terrible tonight. no way any big english team are interested in him. he thinks he's better than he is.

Refuse to take any negatives from tonight folks!

Best game in Europe, we are a young team, GMS, Biton, Armstrong and Matthews all pluses for me

Fans and Stadia be talked about through Europe tonight even thought the officialdom were fair tonight and on it!

Really really enjoyed it as a contest!

Now we've settled the nerves and seen the way they play, our energy will rip them in Milan. We were the best team (if you miss the cupidity). We're better than that at the back and we got this tie in our own hands. Viva la revolution.

Bitton, today: wow. (few stray passes aside).

Armstrong - damn!

Broony - no yellow - he gets to boss the game again, and he was the ballast today, in the way that wanyama was recently.

We were also the more skilful team today and our wingers really spooked an italian defence.

In shaort, what a shift. & a turning point for Ronny's Celts.

my thoughts:
1. mckay stevens, armstrong excellent footballers
2. johannsen vastly overrated
3. biton improving all the time
4. van dyk ordinary enough in this company
5. guidetti should have been on earlier
6.good job ambrose not on for long
7.matthews was excellent, esp. first half
8. izaguirre dodgy at this level

Believable2 Unbelievable2

Emilio is being played somewhat out of position in this line up. IE not bombing on. If we want a full back, Izzy's not that - but for years he's been our best threat goinfg forward and I believe at least one goal came of that today

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree with a lot you say fwiw but Johannsen if anything is under rated. He's the real drive in the team and as hard as nails.

Agree1 Disagree0

You are having a laugh? Johannsen is overrated? He's underrated he had a great game and has had a good season so far

RDs teams cannot defend the back 5 all culpable for the goals great going forward crap going back. no worries on VVD going anywhere no one is going to pay for him. as for Denayer even Man City reserves are not going to play him. RD needs to find a defensive coach or look for a new job. Typical European display for this year

Believable0 Unbelievable4

Get a grip mate. there is a definite improvement from the beginning of the season. Give it some time, hopefully it's all sorted out for next season, we don't look inferior to inter at all tbh. Compared to when we played the poles it's a massive improvement, Ronny just need backed in the transfer window to improve our defence

Agree3 Disagree0

What game you watchin jonace, apart from Gordon and Izzy errors the team has been brilliant.

I have not enjoyed a Celtic game like that for years

Agree1 Disagree0

Kev totally agree and Gordon was to blame for 2 out of the 3 and even though he had 2 great saves in the 2nd half has to hold his hands up for the 1st and 3rd goals. We have a chance though Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

Jonace I take it your one of the ones who think last season was a success? What does that tell you?

Agree0 Disagree0

Utter nonsensece tonight from some of the posters on here! Chris Sutton and Steven M know nothing about nothing. Celtic played their hearts out, we were up against a team that cost over
150 million we cost 12 million. We will go through, and I hope we get Liverpool! I think we could do a job on them! Hail Hail

Agree0 Disagree0

I have to say I was proud of the team tonight . Even Gordon who made two blunders, redeemed himself at the end . For Celtic to score three goals and have several more good attempts at goal speaks wonders for the management and attacking style of Deila . Another wonderful night in Europe for Celtic .

Agree0 Disagree0

I just hope the damage isn't already done. Cheap goals to be giving away in KO format we have gifted them all three and their keeper has saved 2 point blanks the tie should be over with! I hope Gordon recoups and has another blinder and we can finish a few chances and get through. What a game though and what an atmosphere. let's hope teams seeing that will fear coming to Parkhead again with giving Inter 3 easy goals and still getting a result. HH

19 Feb 2015 20:59:25
Have to say Gordon is looking worth every penny of his free price tag tonight.

At fault for three of three tonight.

Van Dijk also can take credit in a couple of them, maybe now he'll realise he is not as good as he thinks he is.

On a happier note the team look as if they had Inter rattled for long stages the high intensity pressing really looks like being a healthy style for Celtic. I feared the worst in the first 15 but we seem to have settled now and causing problems.

Keep hitting them down the right (where Matthews has had the beating of his man on many occasions) and we can still take something from this. Come on Celtic.

Totally unacceptable Craig Gordon!! All the great work ruined by another blunder.

Believable4 Unbelievable0

Mistakes apart I think celtic showed that they were a match for this Inter Milan team. They held there own in the midfield and in my opinion were much fitter and faster. Biton up to the 80th was In There spraying it around and not wasting a ball like a seasoned pro hopefully he keeps it up and improves his fitness and his bulk to enable him to tackle powerfully

Celtic showed good desire and great energy to get to the 3 each. Craig Gordon will know he has made 2 mistakes at crucial moments and will atone for them. Usually were thanking him sir last minute saves and wonder double saves so let's just get behind the whole team for the return leg. I was very impressed by the crisp accurate passing and the tempo. Also the high press is coming together with the increase in stamina and intelligent pressing. No more headless chicken stuff. What a game!

Looking forward to the game. If we lose then I hope there is not an influx of negativity.

As poor as Inter have been they still have players that 10-20 million.

The reality is only VVD gets into the Inter team, hopefully with RDs new fitness regime and pressing we can outwork them in all area's.

Pressing the keeper is a must, great keeper but shockingly poor with ball at his feet

Believable0 Unbelievable1

Downing my second can and waiting for my lift. Absolutely buzzing, win lose or draw a full house at Parkhead on a European night is a sight to behold. Mon the hoops!!

Agree0 Disagree0

Disagree, there's 5 or 6 that would walk into their team, just because they cost 10 or 20 million in an inflated market is meaningless.

Agree0 Disagree0

Agree totally. This is a bonus, a chance to see how much we have progressed. I would hope the Ronny doubters would understand this.

Agree0 Disagree0

Aindoh, name your players?

Interested to see your choices 😜

Agree0 Disagree0

Brown, gordon, lustig, griffiths, izzy, biton, armstrong, I didn't know what team celtic were putting out when I typed the 5 or 6, but I dot think the celtic central defenders would get any where near the inter team, after watching the game.

Dropping off a big HAIL HAIL for the Bhoys tonight! I got a sneaky feeling in my waters that we will win 2-0 VVD and GMS the scorers. A wee cheeky 10 spot on that!

That's work done for the day now to get shifted and get right on it!

Cheers Ed I didn't think I could be true but in the crazy world of football these days you just never know. Well TV coverage for me tonight i'm working till 9pm but hoping a little gentle persuasion on the boss and I might be home for the start, I've a sneaky wee feeling on a 2-0 result so teatime i'm off to put ma money where my mouth is.

{Ed007's Note - I was at a funeral this morning and got talking to a guy down the road from me and his son's gaffer wouldn't give him a holiday or change his shift to let him get to the game tonight, I guess shelves don't stack themselves at the bottom of Hamilton.}

Sorry to hear you were at a funeral hope it won't dampen the atmosphere for you too much ED. i'm guessing the boss is maybe a supporter of the darkside then cause surely a fellow bhoy would never make such a shocking decision.

Looking forward to the game although I think - as bad as Inter are supposed to be - they will be better than anyone we have faced all season.
It will be great experience for the younger players and if the two new signings start, it will be good to see how they cope with class opponents and a capacity crowd atmosphere at Celtic Park.
I will be watching on TV, but it is a reminder to the board and all at the club, that when we are playing well and still in Europe in February it raises profile, attendances, media focus and revenue.
In my heart of hearts I do not think we will do it over the two legs, but what do I know?
Hopefully we will give them a game tonight and take a lead or a draw at worst to Milan.
The main thing, still for me is to keep up the momentum and fight for domestic dominance.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

I honestly wouldn't have any worries if Ronny threw both the new boys in tonight. They never looked out of their depth when playing against us and we are the most difficult opponents Scotland has to offer. The atmosphere and the occasional in general may impact on them but the football in general they have the talent certainly.

Agree1 Disagree0

My money is on a 2-0 win tonight.I think it will be a tight game but just feel we will take our chances when they come along.I have a couple of worries though, Inter play like Juve did with the fouling and holding of players and also Brown gets the yellow card that will make him miss the 2nd leg.

Agree1 Disagree0

Thats me done work and setting off soon. Buzzin - not designated driver anymore either!

Hope Brown stays card free, but I don't want that to affect his usually tenacious, ankle-biting style. Fancy a win still. GMS and Johansen to score 1-0. That'll do me.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi JT, a have 2-1 Celtic

First goal 40-50 mins for me never bothered with the GS market will take anyone lol, atvb jb7

According to our Manager we are in for a very entertaining match against a most unusual side tonight.

Quote : "They have a lot of legs in the midfield and they are aggressive. They do a lot of the same things as us and they're very compact."

So - a lot of angry wee guys who are, each, going to bring loads of extra Football Boots with them . But they are, footballers . ?

I think RD's interviews are getting better!

Just caught an interview with Ronny on Al Jazeera. Nice to see the game getting the international attention it deserves.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - Al Jazeera own BeIn Sports, who have the rights to European football and the SPFL and the BPL as well, in most countries across the world. So Celtic get a fair bit of coverage as they want to direct people to buy the sports packages. Win win for Celtic really.}

Definitely! This was on the news, however!! :D
