As much as we would all like to see the team performing at a decent level in the CL the sad reality is the players are just not good enough for that job. RD in my opinion was brought in to develop players to sell on at a profit to offset the lack of CL cash, whilst securing domestic success at the same time. Do you honestly think RD would still be in a job if deep down PL expected him to be qualifying for the CL with the squad of players he has.

Believable1 Unbelievable2

I think R D has been brought in to develop Celtic first team squad initially over 3/4 yr span . If he does very well Celtic wil want to keep him a lot longer .
So far he hasn't done a lot worse reaching last 32 in Europa League last season and winning the League Cuo and probably the Cup if it hadn't been for very controversial decisions by ref and assistants . No doubt if he leads Celtic to SPL success this season, he will be in position to lead us in Europe again next season . I think if he gets the luck next season that escaped him this season, he will have a fine season and will be well on the way to bringing his Celtic boys to future success for the years to come .

Are you seriously saying deep down PL didn't think we would beat Maribor after drawing the away match or having to beat Malmö over 2 legs? I agree we don't have a squad good enough to be competitive in group stages but the 2 teams that beat us ? Try being honest with yourself Ronny is good for domestic but is found out when we play in Europe far too often. Ps old bhoy we shouldn't need luck to beat the teams in qualifying remember we are the seeded team with a far bigger budget than the teams who are knocking us out.

Agree3 Disagree3

16 Dec 2015 08:46:29
Fact is that we weren't far from qualifying for CL, or from our EL group. Sometimes you don't get the rub of the green. It's just silly things we need to cut out and improve in certain areas yet some people think we're night and day from being a good side, and by that they mean qualifying for CL. People just can't see the wood for the trees and are clearly lising sleep over it. If we played Malmo or Maribor tomorrow I'd fancy us still.

On paper, we don't even look EL standard. I said that on here when the squad was shown. So some of the performances surpassed my expectations. Truth is if we were in a half decent league our team would be no where near Europe. The board need to realise what a fortunate position they are in in that sense and do ALL THEY CAN to ensure we get there.

Agree11 Disagree6

16 Dec 2015 10:15:57
Jim1972, I'm thinking before the season started PL was hopeful the side would reach CL and realistically not expecting it, our player recruitment screams out domestic dominance and not CL standard. I agree partly what your saying, I'm sure PL started to feel his pockets filling up when qualification was in touching distance but I've seen us falter too many times to expect anything, certainly in Europe. If RD delivers another double or if lucks on his side a treble then he's not going anywhere in my opinion. PL knew what he was getting when he brought in RD. It's a deliberate plan by PL to develop players into CL standard instead of having to pay for CL standard players. I fully expect RD to improve the good young players we have and are recruiting but this may take another couple of seasons I'm afraid.

Jim Tim we weren't far from form qualifying for the CL and EL groups! And you use the word fact! Here's the facts mate! We were soundly beaten in Malmo and never looked even close to qualifying and as for the Europa league! How the hell can u be close to qualifying when u end the group winless after back to back spankings by the lowest seed in our group! Away and gies peace! And people can't see the wood for the trees! And I'd still fancy us against Malmo or Maribor! Do u actually believe the s**te u talk?

16 Dec 2015 13:12:12
I agree with Jim Tim, as I think we were not far away from qualifying for the CL this season.

When looking at the game against Malmo you need to look at both legs. In the first leg we were the better team and deserved to win by more than we did. Unfortunately Lustig got injured and Ambrose came on and we let in a late goal that changed our mentality for the second leg.

In the second leg we had a weakened defence, with Janko replacing Lustig and Mulgrew replacing Izaguirre. Despite that we dominated possession again and had a few good chances to score but we did not take our chances. However, once Malmo scored, I thought we looked very nervous and were really vulnerable to the counter attack and set pieces.

The score itself tells you we were not far away from qualification and I am sure if we had not lost Denayer, Lustig and Izzy we would not have been vulnerable to set pieces and would have been more solid at the back in general. However, some people don't won't to look at it objectively and prefer to just blame Ronny [yes, I mean you, as this seems to be a common theme among your posts].

16 Dec 2015 15:02:29
Least your honest Jim Tim! Lol.

16 Dec 2015 17:16:24
At this stage of the season we have played 13/14 games more than the team who is leading the EPL or our rivals in Scotland and in Europe except those who play summer football. 13 extra games is equal to 39 trainsing day lost . Is it any wonder that Deila cannot get his players to master the methods he wants.
Jim Tim may have good points but when he faults Ronny for not qualifying after drawing the first leg away at Malibor, no credit given for beating Malibor away .
Malmo were in the midst of their season and obviously at peak fitness . With any luck we could have had a successful season in Europe . We are not necessary playing names as Beav81.seems to make out . In Europe, just as we did against Barcelona, teams can over perform and particularly if in the middle of a season can prove to be quite a task for any team.

Agree0 Disagree2

16 Dec 2015 18:32:29
Old boy perhaps you should stop excusing everything for Ronny and accept he has failed in Europe largely. He drew away to Maribor which was a good result and the reason he didn't get praise for beating them is because we didn't .
You say were unlucky to play a team (Malmö) in mid season well we started our first pre season game on July the 1st and when we played them at home it was our 14th match and our 16th match at the away game now I understand the players didn't play in all the matches but I'm sure there was enough time to get them ready don't you think? That was 8 competitive fixtures before home game and 10 before the away game.
It's de ja vu with Ronny he gets the team going when it's too late to make an impact on Europe and says we'll be better next year.

Agree1 Disagree1

17 Dec 2015 11:51:28
Old Bhoy, I would love to agree but under the present system we will sell any half decent players Ronnie produces. You cannot succeed if you have no consistency. I was against/for/against and now I have accepted that RD is as good as we will get but that he will never get the chance to do anything, other than win in Scotland, due to the limited ambitions of the current board. The policy being adopted will also see us struggle as the challenge in SPL increases which I expect it will.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2015 16:56:24
Tiny Tim Can I ask you a question? Why did Celtic sell Ki Big Vic Wilson Hooper Forster and Virgil
a) Was it for the craic
b) to annoy the Celtic fans
c) because the players insisted in leaving
d) any other reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

17 Dec 2015 23:28:32
Jim 1972 . You are correct we had played 14/16 games before we played Malmo .
That would give us a chance to work on our match fitness . However our physical fitness could be a different problem . Almost every week since the season started until the ist of December we have been either playing two matches or had almost whole squad on International games . Playing Saturday, Wednesday Saturday Thursday Sunday for example restricts intense training to Monday First week . Tuesday and Friday daysbefore matches really only stretching and light exercise . Wed match day Sunday and Thursday days after match again only light exercise. Second week Sunday recovery Monday and Tuesday full training Wednesday and Saturday both pre- match days light exercise . Thursday match day and Friday post match day exercising .
Three full days training in two weeks. Very difficult for Ronny to get his total 100% fitness regime. There is also a line of thought that players cannot practice set pieces when not fully extended at training . I heard H Larsson saying he never practiced free kicks as he was afraid of damaging hamstrings

I wonder am I right in the above, I know MO'N WGS and Lennon had the same fixture clutter to deal with . However I do thing Deila is trying to do something special and different at Celtic than we have done before . He is looking more for individual performances than maybe team performances we had before .
I wonder am I reading it right and if our glut of fixtures stunts our performance .
Weren't we a lot better from January on last season?

Just watched days of our lives about lisbon lions and best part fir me is bertie aulds parting comment ( the one thing i'd love is for a celtic supporters son, grandson to pull on the hoops because there's nothing like it in the world ) youve just got to love these guys . Merry xmas to them all.

When we had Celtic TV I used to love listening to Bertie's stories and anecdotes. I was lucky enough to watch him play and meet him at a supporters rally.
A brilliant character and Celtic legend.

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Dec 2015 12:40:39
Bertie was always one of my favourite players, I love listening to him.
Without wanting to sound like an old fogey, I'm always struck by how the players from that era loved the club, they seem honoured to have played for Celtic, and are just as passionate about the club all these years later.
Players like Bertie Auld have made supporting Celtic such a pleasure through the years, and I wish them all a happy Christmas.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Dec 2015 18:43:10
Those players were not paid anything like the obscene wages that have been paid for the last 20 years . I appreciate that they were a special group of players and gentlemen one and all . I am not been disrespectful in any way to these fine men but they have almost all been very grateful to pick up the necessary few pounds that they earn at Offical Celtic functions and Supporters dinners etc .

Agree0 Disagree4

17 Dec 2015 17:03:06
Quite a few players that have had distinguished careers at Celtic, after they retire either continue to do hospitality work with club and supporter clubs and of course they are paid for their time .
Others take the media shilling and like Sutton say and write what is music to the SMSM's ears .
The players of the Lisbon Lions era although have done media work have always been careful what they have said .

Players who have excelled under Deila:

McGregor
Tierney
Johansen (I know he has been off form this season)
Biton
Griffiths
Rogic
VVD
Denayer

How much value do you think Deila has managed to add to the team through his coaching?

It is this fact that makes me want to keep Deila. I would give him another crack at getting into the CL. If he fails then I would consider moving him from the manager's position but I would want a role found for him and I would want a condition given to the new manager that he has to work closely with Deila and leave him in charge of player development.

Believable7 Unbelievable17

15 Dec 2015 00:15:55
maybe just bringing in a director of football or someone to head up the decision making when it comes to signing players. The fact that no one is really to blame when we continually sign $hite means that its likely to continue. ideally though we would have a set up in place where we are not looking to sign too many players each year and with RD i reckon we can get there.

Agree5 Disagree8

15 Dec 2015 00:40:01
Hahahaha rab Mac whit planet are u on pal! Keep him on if he fails at the 4th attempt to get in the CL! And the new manager must keep him on to develop players! Hahaha need to stop that drinking on a school nite mate! I can't even describe how idiotic that post was! And the scary thing is u seem serious! Let's tell the manager who would take over to keep on the guy who failed spectacularly in Europe to develop players! Dear oh dear I've heard it all now! 😆😆😆😆.

Comprehension does not appear to be something you excel at.

That coupled with the fact that it is hard to free fools from the chains they revere, indicates that I should save my energy.

Agree12 Disagree8

15 Dec 2015 00:59:36
I don't think it takes much to comprehend that your talking utter garbage! Go back and read your post! If we get a new manager there must be a condition that he keeps on the man he's taking over from, the man who will by that time have failed to get us into the CL on 4 occasions! A man who's just over seen our worse European group stage campaign ever! A man who's a couple a games away from the EL all time winless streak record! And I'm the fool! 😂😂😂😂.

Agree4 Disagree9

15 Dec 2015 01:02:51
Rabmac there is a lot of sense in what you post . Some posters are in a black and white position. Deila is good at developing young players one thing if we love Celtic football team. It makes sense for us to encourage and support Deila .

Agree7 Disagree2

{Ed007's Note - It's obvious that some fans have chosen to support specific tournaments rather than CFC these days, it's the same kind of cretins that buy half n half scarves and take great delight when we get sanctimonious pats on the head about how good the atmosphere is at the ground as they applaud opposition players off the park.}

15 Dec 2015 01:10:23
RabMac I think in order to see a managers full ability, board has to put 100% backing behind him. He needs to be able to have his own backroom team and more say in transfers.

Agree8 Disagree1

15 Dec 2015 02:46:42
Yes, you are the fool who lacks comprehension. Your point would only have merit if I had suggested keeping him in a managerial role, which was not what I suggested.

Let me give you a scenario to aid your comprehension. Imagine a company employed a manager and that manager was failing in some aspects but excelling in other aspects. Now you have a few options:

1 keep the manager and let him work on the aspects he is failing.

2 sack the manager and take a chance on someone else.

3. Move the manager to a new role that allowed your company to benefit from the areas he excelled in.

If I were faced with this choice I know I would not want to lose such a highly skilled employee and the sensible think to do is move him to a position that allows you to utilise his talents without having a detrimental effect.

Despite what you may think, I know for a fact that Ronny has lots of good attributes and we as a club have benefited from his skills and knowledge.

I should also point out that Ronny is not the only one to blame for our European results. Think about how many player errors and acts of indiscipline have cost us points.
How many games have we had key players out? Yes there are instances where it has been Deila's fault but let's remember he has had some good results in Europe and we have also performed well in a number of the European games. Yes it is disappointing to get knocked out but he won't be the first or the last to do so.

Agree7 Disagree10

15 Dec 2015 08:50:03
Again I will say that your point is nonsense! U said if we get put out the CL for a 4th time under this manager he should be replaced and the new manager whoever he is should be made to keep him on! What manager would agree to such garbage! If he fails to get us into CL for the 4th time his feet shouldn't touch the ground! he's constantly failed on the European stage! In the CL and EL! and u say he won't be the first to get knocked out of European competion! Well he's the 1st to do it without winning a game in the group stage! And name me a good result we've had in Europe? Against a good team! 28 European games with 8 wins,4 of which were against part timers from Iceland! That's 4 wins we've had against Malmo Astra Zagreb and quarabag! All scraped by with one goal in it! So were was the good result? This man has took us backwards at an incredible rate in the space of 18 months! But hey let's keep him on if he fails once again!

Agree7 Disagree8

15 Dec 2015 09:54:25
You seem to be the only person who is commenting on this thread that is unable to grasp the point I am making. Therefore, one may assume that you lack comprehension as it seems clear enough to everyone else.

You seem fixated on his European record and this seems to be what is clouding your judgement. Whether or not you rate his managerial ability is a moot point as there is no denying that he has a good track record of developing players, especially youngsters. This is an area were Celtic have underperformed for years and very few youngsters have made it through.

Now we have someone who seems capable of reversing that trend and it is for that reason I would like him to be heavily involved in this area, despite what he does in Europe.

Not only that his management of players with injuries is impressive. He has got both Forrest and Rogic playing regularly and free of injury. He has done this by building up the players muscles to help strengthen the area. He has also monitored their game time closely and rested them at the right times.

Agree8 Disagree6

15 Dec 2015 10:26:31
Here we go with this comprehension garbage yet again! Go to your original post mate, how many people agree with u? So I don't think I'm the only one on here who disagrees with your nonsense! And u say I'm fixated on his European record! So by your logic we should let this guy bring threw a youngster here and there and just let him keep making a shambles of Europe year on year! And my judgment has never been clearer! The guy ain't up to the job it's as simple as that! And if he were to be sacked and then accept a job working with the younger players it would just back up what I and a lot of other fans think, that's he a weak manager and a puppet for Lawell! No manager with anything about him would accept what your suggesting! So like I said at the start of my post. go up and see how many people agree with you! Think it's you struggling to comprehend things mate!

Agree2 Disagree9

15 Dec 2015 12:03:49
Again you fail to comprehend, as it is not a matter of whether or not you agree with me, as that is for the individual to decide.

The fact you keep using Deila's European record as your premise to refute my opinion and brand it nonsense again shows your lack of comprehension.

If you think otherwise then answer me this: "what does Deila's management record in Europe have to do with his ability to develop players? "

Agree5 Disagree4

15 Dec 2015 12:59:40
God u love the word comprhension don't you! And your right I don't comprehend the nonsense your spouting! You said I'm the only one on here who doesn't comprehend what your talking about and I've told u to go back to your original post and see how many other people disagree with you! What does his record in Europe have to do with development of players! Are u serious! That can't be a serious question! You answer me this then. were will the players learn and develop more, in the SPL Or against top class European opposition? U can spend all the time u want on the training field but until your tested by quality opponents then we'll never know just how good these players can be! So yes the managers failure to make the CL or have a decent Run in the EL has got plenty to do with player development!

Agree0 Disagree9

15 Dec 2015 13:11:46
I agree with you Rab. RD should stay to some capacity. Most likely still as head coach but that'll be just fine. I think we could do with an experienced DoF who can offer advice now and again. I think the backroom staff could do with a wee shake-up too. I'd get straight after Jaap Stam if I was PL. To be honest, the whole title of roles is just trivial to be honest. From coaching youths, training the first team, from tactical decisions, sussing out opponents and being more accurate and efficient with our signings, it's just a management TEAM. Under the current constraints of the club RD is as good a man as any to be part of that team leading us forward.

15 Dec 2015 13:35:13
Groundhog Day! Anyone new we bring in would need huge investment and a minimum of 2 years to get us to this promised land CL stuff. Back Delia with real warchest, new keeper, proven finisher and an experienced head to replace Brown who is not going to be there forever. Or keep hoping for Davie Moyes and the usual unobtainables. Better or worse, Delia is the man for us.

Agree8 Disagree1

15 Dec 2015 14:37:10
If all that matters is domestic football then Ronny is okay for the job for the moment, as there is no competition, you'd have to be totally inept not to win the league in Scotland with our squad.
Whether you like European football or not, these matches are against tougher opposition than we face in Scotland, so it's a better guide as to how good a manager is. As he has been found wanting in a lot of these matches, how confident should we be that if Sevco come up next season and find some money from somewhere, that Ronny would fare any better against them than he does in Europe?

Agree1 Disagree6

15 Dec 2015 15:15:45
Lol gerry. Sevco off buying RVP, Nani, Icardi, Palacio etc? You'd think they'd learned about doing that.

Not trying to throw fuel onto the fire but several people on here claiming Ronnie is great at bringing on the Young lads, apart from oddegard what other top class players has he brought through? I appreciate he's playing tierney but could you really put that all down to Ronnie? Maybe he was a standout in the development squad and potentially any manager we employed would have given him a shot . Maybe the development coaches need to take the praise for it . This isn't a dig at Ronnie, just wondering if he has in fact brought through young lads with potential and they have made big moves in their careers?

15 Dec 2015 16:25:41
I would like to point out that if you don't comprehend what I am saying, how do you know it's nonsense? [that was a rhetorical question, so no need to answer]

Usually if I read something I don't understand I would normally refrain from commenting as I know there is real potential to look foolish. It may be a good idea if you took a leaf from my book as you are continually making a fool of yourself here.

I could continue to point out the deficiencies in your posts and your lack of comprehension but I am feeling generous.

Quinn 1888 Ed007 has posted before the incredible stats from Stromsgodset about young players and older players getting international recognition.

Odegaard is just an extremely talented youngster, a rare read hence Real gave him.

In Norway I would class Johansen move to Celtic a big move.

Tierney was nothing to most fans so credit to RD making him a starter in most people's eyes. I believe others will follow soon enough.

Daviebhoy have to disagree mate. We are only 1 game away usually from CL, and its usually a Qarabag, Molde, Maribor type team away from getting there. I don't think that's a big ask do you?
I know we not good enough yet to challenge CL group yet but 20m goes along way to helping that, and if we keep qualifying we can only get better.
Whilst winning the League cup for eg is always good it simply cannot improve us. The money we get and the kudos we get from being in CL will surely get us better players in the long term.
Scottish football can never tell us how good we are, in times gone past all we had to do was beat Rangers and that was good enough which is fair enough, but it simply doesn't tell us how good we are as Rangers could be pishh as well.
It amazes me that the RD lovers on here are in favour of him because he can improve us in the long term as well as youngsters etc.
Well I sorry managers are here for the short term only and we know this, but getting to the CL every year will improve us even more no matter who the manager is.
So how come its ok to to luv RD and seek this improvement which hasn't happened yet but its not ok to seek real improvement ie getting to CL.

Rabmac is Beav81 a spoilt son that thinks you can get nothing right?
Personally if we were to get rid of everyone at Celtic who has made a mistake or done wrong or didn't do enough right Celtic Park would be a very lonely place . If anyone can name me any player who has reason to be proud of his performance in all his European games, I don't know him . Did our defensive coach get our set pieces right? Could other managers do better? Did all our mental coaches get the played psyched correctly? Did the board provide enough funds? Did the scouts scout the right players? Did Lawwell close the deals on the right players? Did our supports support and encourage or moan and groan and yell abuse? Did the team perform better away from fortress Celtic Park?
Many others!
Is Deila to blame for all.

No Beav, its definitely you.

Quinn, Iver Fossum looks like he'll be the business too. Unfortunately CAM ain't our priority. Oh and there's this courtesy of 007:

Between 2001-2007 not ONE single Stromsgodset player earned a youth cap (including under 21s) for Norway. However, in just 5 years under Deila, the figure reached 179, that's works out at an average of 36 per season.

Agree10 Disagree2

15 Dec 2015 19:29:32
JimTim, that's all well and good but it's results he's in the job for.
Producing young players is okay, but we are really only producing them for other clubs, we have them while they are learning and making mistakes, when they become good they are sold.
I'm only interested in Celtic's results on the pitch, not being an academy for EPL teams.

Agree2 Disagree4

15 Dec 2015 20:51:14
Yeah, always thought that figure sounds too good to be true, maybe a more pertinent figure would be how many Stromgodset players that RD coached became full internationals, leaving out Odegaard, who seems to be a special talent, maybe RDs forte is as a youth coach, he just does'nt seem to be able to manage a team of grown ups,

Agree1 Disagree0

15 Dec 2015 20:53:36
Quinn; Martin Ødegaard, Stefan Johansen, Lars Vilsvik, Gustav Wikheim (in talks with Gent) Iver Fossum (in talks with Hannover) , Anders Konradsen to name a few. Yead Ødegaard is an insane talent but Deila was the one that starting to play him at an age of thirteen.
If Tierney isn't a good example of what to come, i don't know what is. This is also tve main reason why Deila tries to find talent and players from the scottish league, to find a right balance in the squad.
Ok maybe the ones of Cifci, GMS and Armstrong isn't the quality you seek at the moment but who would you buy for the same amount? Maybe there has to do with players from other countries wants to much wages to come, the league not being the most excited.

Look at Molde. They have a handfull foreign players and the rest is lokal or norwegian. So do Rosenborg and their doing not so shabby?

It took a few years to get the "lokal lads" as their main product, instead of buying from abroad
That takes a few years at its own and you should be confertable not doing that great in Europe for a while.

Aindoh, norwegian football is starting to really kick on very much cause of Deila. Take a look at norwegian foltball now comapared to ten years ago. Everything has changed, in every part of the system.
Im not saying its all Deila, but the framework of the new "norwegian standard" is made out of Deila's knowledge.
You could say it really bit his own arse against Molde!

Andoh. Lars Vilsvik, Mohammed Keita, Anders Konradsen, Stefan Johansen, Adam Larsen (Ghana) , Marcus Pedersen has all played for their respecrive national team, with a lot of players for lower age national teams, appart from Ødegaard.
Gustav Wikheim, Gustav Valsvik, Iver Fossum to name a few for under21 and dominating it also.

Agree3 Disagree0

15 Dec 2015 21:38:13
Norwegianred, that sounds more impressive, but when he started with Stromgodset, was it an old established player pool, that he culled, and brought in young players, or did he start with ayoung team, and develop them, I just get the feeling, he does'nt know how to handle older players.

Agree0 Disagree0

15 Dec 2015 22:08:15
Norwegianred, are these player you mention still at Stromgodset?, if they are as good as you say they are then shouldn't they be getting deep into European competitions?, if they aren't still at Stromgodset, then I'm sorry but I personally don't want Celtic just to become a feeder club like them.
You said that we may have to accept no European football for a few years, but what happens then?, we'll probably have one good season then any talent would be sold, then we would have to start again with another group of youngsters who will take a few years to develop.
I don't want us to have one good season in five, I want us to try and be a bit more ambitious than that. If we were developing these youngsters for our own benefit, then I would be prepared to be patient, but in reality any players we produce are only going to wealthy clubs in England.
I would like us to invest a bit in some better quality players, and let the EPL clubs produce their own talent.

Strømsgodset had the highest wage bill in the leauge and also the oldest in the league when he took over. So you can safely say he didn't inherrit a young sqaud. He didn't go out and splash a lot of cash, a lot of free transfers and loan deals their first seasons.
He picked up Lars Vilsvik from german amatur league, Stefan Johansen free from Bodøglimt, Konradsen for something like 80 thousand pounds, Stefan Johansen was RW/Striker when he arrived, half fat and with a bad attitude but Deila turned him and a lot of orher players old and young around.

And Aindoh, has any player at Celtic showed anything else than that they have confidence in Deila? Would Bitton sign a new contract AFTER you got knocked out of CL if he didn't have confidence in the direction Deila is going?

Beav81 what utter garbage you talk. Reality is you and a segment of supporters will never be happy with Deila, even if he won the CL.

He has had less £ to spend in 2 seasons compared to Lennon, yet has achieved more success in his first 2 seasons than Lennon.

Yeah Gerry some of those players are still at Strømsgodset, i don't think Deila wants the club to sell their best players every season. Gustav Wikheim has just turned 22 and had numbers of offers in the past, but didn't want to leave Strømsgodset at that time. Konradsen just arrived to Rosenborg (won the league and cup) after spending some years in Rennes.

Iver Fossum is one of the hottest young norwegian players, a lot of rumours with the likes of Hannover, Lyon, PSV to name a few and will be sold any day now.
The thing is that either the club or player have any reason to move to early and that says a lot of club morale.

I understand you want to succeed in Europe, this season has been well under par i get that, but considering losing both Denayer and VVD in the same time and some of your best players not hitting form, your not that far away.

There is allways a lot of if's and but's in foltball, but this seasons euro matches didn't actually tip in your direction in any of the games i watched.
If you had gotten 3-0 up against Malmø i think it would have sealed it.
You should have won against Ajax and Fenerbache, and Molde has had the form of their lives this autmn/winter! Never seen a norwegian team play so well in europe, since the 90'.

Keep faith and your club will evolve, two seasons in a club isn't that long of a time not when you are in need of an overhaul.

Im not saying you should sell the best talents, one or two talents up to senior level every season would give you enough to hold on to some of them too, even if you somd a buch.

Edinboy I would happy enough with the principle of Director of Football, but I think the two need to be employed simultaneously or D O F first otherwise manager will lose face . There is no evidence that Ronny can't handle old footballers and we won't find that at Celtic because most of the players are young . Commons and Stokes have been bad news disciplinary wise since they were young . so Aindoh I don't think u can lay that on Deila . Rumours and half truths don't necessarily form basis for good decisions on manager etc .

Question, how come Stromsgodset had the highest wage bill in the league, I was under the impression that they were one of the lesser teams in Norwegian football before Ronnie came in and tranformed them.

DN you consistently put up RD 1st two seasons and compare it to Lennons. IMHO the only true way to compare a manager is to see what he started with and what he left us with.
Lennon started with a team well behind rangers and nowhere in Europe.
He finished with us well ahead of rangers (before passing away lol) and a title winning team and in CL.
Ronny started with a title winning side and in the CL, but now in the Europa league.
There is also no point to going on about budgets/transfers etc as every manager since ONeil has had to cut his cloth accordingly.
If you want to compare RD to Lennon that's your choice mate, but do you really want to compare Ronny to a rookie who took over 1 of our worst managers in our history is that the standards you set our manager?

{Ed007's Note - So shouldn't you be waiting to see what RD leaves us with?}

Lennon took over from in your opinion one of the worst managers in history, but also took over at a time when there was absolutely no competition in SPL. failed domestically and was embarrassing in europe. Yeah we all know we were in CL his last season, but we finished bottom, got absolutely destroyed every game apart from one, yet cause it was CL you think this is ok.

DN no competition in SPL? Rangers were there, how was there no competition, that's what we have just now.
I would rather be embarrassed in the CL than in the Europa mate. At least we won games in the CL and never ever went 10 without a win.

Fab 2.
Thanks for making my point for me . Based on some of your previous posts no doubt you didn't want to make op my point but to go to the bother of posting that Keiran Teirney has every right to be proud of every game he played in Europe this season and not to be able to list six or eight more speaks volumes for how bad the Celtic players performed, yet we hear so much nonsense about Deila .
