When you see that team I'm quite glad we signed Allan. Armstrong hasn't done anything this season to merit a start, and mackay-Stephen can also be anonymous. At least Allan will give another option!

There's the Stuart Armstrong that we signed! I'll gladly have him shut me up with 2 good goals! Well played!

15 Aug 2015 19:19:14
Dont know why a lot of posters have been on armstrongs back most of the time he's getting played out of position he had a good game today Scott Brown was excellent keep it up captain same again on Wednesday

15 Aug 2015 19:37:58
2 home games I've been to Armstrong has been superb, never wastes a ball he's positive n links up well. Wide men don't always have to be full of tricks n pace. Young guy who'll only get better and think we have a star in the making. He's 2 goals where great. GMS on the other hand is like forrest and fraser, where there on it there unplayable when there not they offer little, you'll get a solid 7 every game from Armstrong

Stuart Armstrong is arguably the best prospect we've got. Aye he's been hit and miss but he is in no way a wide midfielder. Really good display from him and a much more efficient performance up top. Defence though.

In my personal opinion other than johansen Armstrong is the best attacking midfielder we've signed in a while yes he is not a left winger but people should stop looking at the system we play as in having two wingers cause it can be two wingers or two attack midfielders that play in the wide positions either way it gives you different options in attack Armstrong is the most intelligent player at celtic at the moment when it comes to passing the ball forward and the reason most don't find their mark is because I think some players just aren't wise enough to see the space he does and other times like most people he is human and makes mistakes but a lot of people who give him stick and talk about commons as if he should be playing at the top of the ge in Europe can't see the Forrest for the trees sorry but coming from a coaching back ground ( not at a high level yet) I would sign Armstrong before commons GMS 10 times out if 10 if I had the chance

15 Aug 2015 23:57:10
I rate Armstrong but he has been very poor in a couple of games, other players have had bad games but there have been a couple where he has been really poor. The main thing I've noticed is how wasteful he has been in possession. Not a dig k_Mack but you mustve missed those games. I'm trying to get on at him as he's still young, I said at the start of the season I think he needs this full season under his belt then he'll be one of our main men.

Also I'm not a believer of the 'too clever for other players'. I played Sunday league with a guy who had been a pro and he always managed to find us amateurs. If he was that clever he'd know where to find them

16 Aug 2015 15:53:04
Stephenm Saying you are coming from a coaching background and that you would sign Armstrong ahead of Commons and GMS ten times out of ten .
You have mentioned you operated at not a high level , and I am sure cynics can see why 😋😀😅

Tell me why was there no interest in commons from down south or anywhere else last year when his contract was running out I'll tell you Why because commons is a passenger when he plays was he not the same player causing trouble for RD when he first took over if that's the type of person you want in and around your team al give him his dues two seasons out of 4 he scored a few goals but other than that he offers the team nothing else I've not coached at a higher level yet because I'd prefer to learn my craft before making steps up is that enough of an explanation for you old bhoy

16 Aug 2015 22:14:12
Another classic line. All he does is score a few goals. I'd rather be too clever to pass than score goals. Is this the trade that you are learning mate?

The next lesson you might learn is 'if he got a bit of luck he would be world class'. I can't believe that you are trying to say commons is a poor player and a troublemaker.

16 Aug 2015 23:20:33
Commons isn't a poor player but he isn't the messiah that some celtic fans make him out to be and it's commons himself who said he was causing trouble for RD so that's no making things up buddy and in my veiw commons has cost us just as many games as he has won for us with his inability to pass the ball that's why I'm not a commons fan is rather have players who play for the team than a player who only plays for himself sorry if that doesn't sit well with some celtic fans

I know totally where you're coming from Stephen. Commons' shoot on sight policy can be just as detremental as beneficial. He's a very clever player, incisive and influential, can spot things many can't. He's a leader and an influence too. I can see a coach in Commons. But he's very inconsistent. Always has been. And the past couple seasons he can't keep up with play. Most notably last. Johansen has made that CAM position his own, rightly so. Commons quit international football because he himself knows he can't keep up. When we're getting the ball up to the striker as quickly as possible Commons is often a few yards to far behind the play. For me, he should be in impact player - but only in games we need a goal. Otherwise, for me, we should be playing Johansen and developing Armstrong in CAM.

Stephenm your exactly the type of coach that's ruining the game. Commons has been an inspiration at Celtic both on and off the park. His ability to change a game is shown statistics, and instead of having a go at the negatives behind a player, you need to start paying more attention to the positives. It is easy to tear apart any player by throwing out useless comments such as "cost us just as many games as he's won", geez u could even say that about Broony. Instead of learning a 'craft' I encourage you to focus on your own team's positives, and leave the concentration on negatives to the opposition - aka play to your own teams strengths and your opposition's weaknesses.

Commons has done a job for us on multiple occasions, full stop! He still is, even although getting on a bit. Just embrace the fact that he has ability and let's not try to get a guy that people like Henderson have idolized at the club, transferred or disliked.

If you're first reaction to this post is defensive, think where we'd be if we focused on negatives such as jinky too short, aitken poor first touch, Di canio poor temperament etc etc. When a players positives have the ability to far outweigh their negatives. That's someone worth keeping! Hail Hail!

{Ed007's Note - 'Commons has been an inspiration at Celtic both on and off the park' rofl

Commons is greedy and it was well documented that he was against RDs methods at the beginning. Mind you for all the greed and ballooned shots from impossible areas he does produce a screamer for time to time but with all that practise you would expect that

scott Allan again today Ed. I rest my case! :)
