Kilmarnock game at the weekend is the most important fixture and Valencia tie was a bonus. Unless the clubs spending model changes we will have to get used to the dire performances in Europe. I am pretty realistic and don’t expect us to roll over teams like Valencia, but expect Celtic to give teams a go, especially at home. Brendan Rodgers has been amazing and I have had some of my best times as a Celtic fan in the last few years. It is clear to me though that stubbornness when it comes to playing superior sides is his downfall. Don’t try and play from the back if you don’t have the players to do it. How many of our European goals of years gone by have been from direct passing front to back or set pieces. Majority of them. Playing out from the back is not working with this squad of players in Europe.

The difference between Brendan Rogers and more mediocre human beings is that he believes in himself. He doesn’t thrown in the towel at the first setback and resort to the easy option. He sticks to the plan because he knows he will succeed one day. He should be applauded for that.

It won't succeed one day. I'm sick and tired of watching the same game in Europe. We can't pass, not good enough or confident enough to play out from the back. Don't get me wrong, I love BR and consider ourselves lucky to have him but in Europe things need to change whether it be personnel or tactics.

Agreed COYBIG this idea that we should hoof it up to the big man every time we come up against a decent team is complete nonsense and would work even less than what we are doing now.
The other night was disappointing but the usual tantrums every time we don't win a game are ridiculous.

We are easy to beat. Anderlecht, Monchengladbach and Valencia all done same thing at parkhead.

Didn't press our man on the ball. Blocked our passing lanes.

Defend centrally and gave us more space out wide as we won't cross the ball in much (no target man)

So it leaves us looking to squeeze passes through tight gaps in the middle

Which leads us to making our own mistakes and losing.

All 3 of those home games were like repeats.

It's about playing with some common sense and not putting ourselves under unnecessary pressure theirs a time and a place to play and it's not usually your own 6 yard box when surrounded by players. Being able to vary the play doesn't make you a long ball team it just makes you less predictable and more of a threat teams will think twice about pressing so high if they know that option is available. Valencia and the likes don't need our help too be dangerous.

Problem is we only sign players based on their technical skill nowadays. All tippy tappy players.

We don't have the option to go long or physical which makes us predictable and one dimensional.
