I'm sorry but the stick the players and manager is getting on here is a joke. It was always going to be a tough game to play with the lead we had and the first goal set the tone. We panicked a bit. Janko was terrible but we did it. We don't have to try and defend an advantage in the group stages and can take each game as they come. I personally thought taking Forrest off was the right call as it enabled brown to sit back a little. when we went to a back 3 we saw out the game quite comfortably. Footballs not always about flair. It's about digging in and having a bit bottle. Well played Celtic. Onwards and upwards.

{Ed007's Note - Not too long ago on here results and performances didn't matter when it came to the CL - it was all about the money.}

Joe, your right, even in the pub tonight I heard guys who probably don't even know where parkhead is shouting and slaughtering players.
A section of our support are definitely becoming or have tuped over Huns.

24 Aug 2016 01:55:41
What game did you guys watch and why are you more concerned about fan criticism than the performance.

The whole point was to get through and yes we got there but it was far from job well done.
We got slaughtered out there and now we're through we will be playing some REAL football teams.
Most of these teams will be praying for us in there group based on that performance.

{Ed007's Note - But think of the money!}

24 Aug 2016 03:34:47
Yes wee did get it done bt that was as weak a performance av seen the heat was a major factor tho so f*ck it on the road again. they had nothing more to give they were wounded in that heat tonight.

24 Aug 2016 05:59:08
A great result, didn't see the game, just listened on the radio, the performance didn't sound like it was very good, Gordon seems to be getting unfairly criticised, Paterson needa to be brought in as cover for RB, McCarthy type player would be perfect for midfield, Biton, has never been a favohrite of mine, and is vastly overated, what about that guy from Aberdeen, can't remember his name, think Mousa and LG will rip Europe apart, once the misfield is sorted, all in all a great night, the team will improve after this experience, tight stadium, very hot humid, atmosphere, but the players still hung in there, no aftermatch press cobferences about the players being frightened or panicking needed this time, I think Celtic will surprise a few people in how well they do in group stages.

24 Aug 2016 08:07:14
The performance was pish, but we are through over 2 legs, and if you thought it was going to be a walk in the park then more fool you. If you want to see nice playing pretty football, I suggest you go and watch Barcelona.
The money is nice yes, bit I like being in European cup too.

24 Aug 2016 08:43:32
Haha I will watch Barcelona thanks.

When i'm doing that can you pull your head out your ass?
Dont get pissy because you don't like my opinion and don't try and force a drubbing against an average team as acceptable because "we got there in the end".

If you think that's acceptable then more fool YOU!

Ed, not too long ago we had RD in charge, that's the difference. The supporters have a new found confidence and have come to expect better now. Although the Red Imps away tie was a complete disaster, since then we've been excellent and last night's performance was a surprise to me.

{Ed007's Note - Don't talk shite, Kev. It was nothing to do with the manager. There were plenty of posters on here shouting like cheap prostitutes that it doesn't matter if we get pumped in every group game, just as long as the CL money was there.
Before Rodgers came here his record in Europe was 6 wins out of a possible 18, with 22 goals scored and 24 against. He's now won 2 matches out of 6 up here, scoring 11 and conceding 7 along the way. Where's the new found confidence coming from, 2 wins out of 6? Behave yourself.}

24 Aug 2016 09:28:02
I think us as supporters need to take a long hard look at ourselves, the greatest supporters ever my arse.
The tie was won at home, if you think 2500mile trip in the heat, against a decent side, with a good home crowd, was poor, then I suggest you take your head out your arse, and remind me how great we are away from home in Europe.

{Ed007's Note - But Brendan Rodgers has came in and the supporters for some strange reason are confident and expect better now. Didn't you read Kev's post?}

24 Aug 2016 09:35:36
Who would you want in charge then Ed07? Celtic as a club have got the best manager that they could in my opinion. I for one wouldn't want the likes of Davy Moyes anywhere near my team. To most managers of good standing we are not an attractive proposition, that is the simple facts. Celtic qualifying WILL help the club financially and other teams within the SPL. The money is very important as is the coverage Scottish football will get as a result of our qualification.

{Ed007's Note - You've lost me now. Who said anything about Moyes?}

24 Aug 2016 09:53:43
Why is it everytime the team gets criticised someone pulls out the "best fans in the world card".

Does it make you a better fan than anyone else memaself because your happy to call a pish performance as great because we got there in the end.

24 Aug 2016 09:49:04
Come on Ed, I'm hardly talking shite just because you don't agree. He's a far better manager than RD and even the players have publicly credited him with instilling a lot more confidence in them. I never mentioned his previous European record, I'm talking about the differences I have noticed at Celtic even after such a short time. The team have been playing good football, scoring plenty of goals and the team have seemed mentally stronger. Last season we would have fell apart gainst Astana when the game went to 1-1. You're quite entitled to disagree with me but I expected a stronger performance from us last night and was let down by how frightened they seemed. And by the way, we've won all 3 of our home games, not 2.

{Ed007's Note - You're talking shite because you're moving the goalposts. There were posters on here said it didn't matter that we got beat 6-1 by Barca, results in the CL don't matter as long as we're in it. Use the search function.
The 2 instead of the 3 was a typo, sorry.
Without the addition of 2/3 quality players I fear the money is all those fans will be celebrating in Europe this year.}

24 Aug 2016 11:23:51
I'm not moving the goalposts at all Ed. I'm not one of the fans who'd happily watch us taking a doing year after year just because we'd get paid well for it and I hope I haven't given you that impression. But after 2 years in the EL I'm delighted we're back in the big time and I think the squad are better equipped to deal with the mental pressures that come with it more now than they were under RD, as the Astana and HBS games showed.

{Ed007's Note - I hope you're right, Kev but I've not seen anything yet to make me as confident as you. Astana were a better side than Be'er Sheva, and I didn't see the team coping too well with the pressure of last night, if we play like that against a top side we will be torn to shreds. I'm the same as you, Kev, I don't want to see that but there are others who don't see the results as important as the £.
If Celtic get beaten by say 4 goals I'll be totally gutted and the money will be no consolation to me. I've said for years on here that we should be operating at the level of CL qualification and the minimum aim is to drop down to the EL, some form of European football after Christmas should be our aim every season.
After the season when we beat Barca the board should have either backed NL and invested in the squad or replaced him as manager, that was a crucial point and the board (and for me NL, he knew what was going on and should have walked with his head and reputation high) let us down again.}

24 Aug 2016 12:46:34
Tick67, I brought it up because it is very pertinent. The Zombies support follow blindly on like a collie dog, but ours come across as spoiled glory hunting children. You need to accept the fact we aren't Barcelona, Madrid, or any of the elite, and I'm sure some of the elite clubs would have had a difficult night last night.

24 Aug 2016 12:50:35
What's football after Christmas?

{Ed007's Note - Remember playing Inter Milan in RD's first season? That.}

24 Aug 2016 16:45:25
Not sure the relevance to Barcelona or Madrid are you suggesting that team last night would have dominated any of them?

Not sure your argument you seem to be the only celtic fan happy with last night's performance and your questioning the loyalty of supporters for us pointing this out.

If you admire the zombies so much you know what you can do, it would be common practice for them to glorify pish you would slide right in.

24 Aug 2016 19:04:34
Sometimes some of us are happy to qualify and take it from there . Fans of some EPL teams that think they should qualify every year, would be happy to be in our position just now . Liverpool and Chelsea finished 8th and below 8th and u can't get Champions League from there.
