Why the heck is Carlton Cole training with us? He has not played in months so will take ages to get match fit. Lazy, lazy scouting by Celtic and the whole scouting team, but are we surprised? NO

I think if Cole does sign for us he'll be a lot better than people think. Always a handful in England, and although not prolific he is a decent player. He's better than shifty for a start. He might not sign, but I'd be prepared to sign him for the season and see how he goes.

Think he'll be better at dealing with the long balls straight up to the atriker but there were free agents during the summer I would have rather us went for.

It's a bad day from our clubs perspective if Carlton Cole might not sign! Lol from a supporters view it's great but he's a big lazy donkey!

It is super lazy, and super poor scouting. I saw the picture of John Park walking out the side of the stadium with him, he had a big smile as if we were about to pull of some major deal. I honestly don't have a clue what's going on, as well as not bringing any top players through the youths, we are having to go and bring in D Utd's players. We have needed another top striker since Hooper left, he obviously didn't fancy Scepovic, after wanting him over Kramaric who ended up going to Leicester, was that Parks decision? I think at that point his Croatian club wanted £3.5 million, he obviously kept scoring and eventually moved for double that, but we got Scepovic for £2.2 million do it looks like the cheap option as usual, - just like Bangura, Pukki and Balde. It's pointless stokes being at the club, Ronny doesn't seem to rate him, he never does it in big games, I have heard he has a poor attitude, and he also has this court case hanging over him and the club, so why not just let him go to Bolton? Why do we never think ahead? If these 2 weren't in the plans why wait until 3 hours before the deadline to be scraping the barrel trying to get loan deals? There really is a few questions I'd love to put to Peter Lawwell, and John Park. If we do sign Cole he can't play in Europe either, well until the knockouts if we get through. It is beyond my comprehension why we didn't sign a top striker in preseason before the qualifiers. You are buying an asset who can potentially make you £20 million, plus you also have him for the future anyway. Worst case scenario he can play in the Europa league(if we don't make the Champions League) and help us qualify from that, - as it is we don't have either. And we needed 2 strikers so I mean as well as Cifti, who is totally untested at any decent level. Willie McStay came back last year as a scout, we also added John McGlynn, Tosh McInlay scouts for us I'm sure. We also have David Moss and Park who runs the dept. That's the ones I know, - maybe Peter Lawwell is paying for them all to live together in a caravan in Dundee!

Losing respect fast for 'scouting' system and signing policy at Celtic these days. Carlton Cole is no better than Amido Balde - who we shipped out and has a very poor touch, ball control and fitness level. This is ridiculous Celtic.

My apologies, how terrible of me - they obviously get a day trip to Manchester in the caravan, and their one trip abroad per year is of course to Croatia/Serbia. All the players in the Albanian League will being getting their hopes up for next season. We also have a mystery scout that seems to have been to every Benfica game in the last 3 years or whatever - what a gig that is, he must have a studio flat in Portugal and just live there all year round. He won't even have to properly watch the games because every time I've checked their team sheets I've never really saw a player that we would even come close to paying for. I even saw an article a few months ago from a local paper over there saying they thought we were scouting Gaitan - that was a belter. They obviously don't know Pistol Pete.

I agree Delphic. If Cole and Ciftci are as far as our arms stretch then somethings got to change. Lazy is thev word.

And by the way I wasn't specifically having a dig at Cole, who does have a decent pedigree, certainly compared to previous signings, he is also suited to playing the lone striker role and have experience, which we badly lack. I haven't seen enough though to comment on his fitness etc, how he was playing for West Ham before he left there. I was having a go at the planning, and how there is never any foresight. And we never ever learn. It is pure schoolboy stuff. We needed another striker for Europe, not Scotland!

21 Sep 2015 21:49:20
Look how long it took Ciftci a regular in the prem to get off the mark and he wasn't exactly a last minute signing we need a striker in for pre season to settle in and for the team to get an understanding of how they like to play. We say every year "hopefully the board will learn their lesson" but they never do. Cole isn't the answer to our attack. But with figures being in the red can anyone expect a big money signing on a striker? With our price range who would people want singed up front?

Every club in the world would love to know who to sign that will definitely do a good job for us . Some players hit the ground running others like big John Hartson can go 6/7 games before they score .
Cliftci took a similar length of time , I thought he looked a wee bit livier yesterday and hopefully he will now go on a good run , he looks more confident .
It would be unusual to have a 31year old striker on a week's trial and I note Deila says it isn't a trial , I think it makes sense to have a wee look for a week before deciding .
We seem to not be able to make up our minds if we need more experience players or not .

Bravetart figures aren't in the red.

We have had the best result since Deila came to us against a Dundee team who were previously doing well and all we get is gloom and doom . If this banter had been up and running since 1967, we would have been moaning for days after the European Cup win that we had trailed a shite Inter team for too long and that Jim Craig should never play for Celtic again after giving a way the penalty .
