Great result last night and Ronny gets his credibility back and let's hope he has learned.
Izzy blew it again, and again Gordon blew it.
But I on to speak about Commons. many on here said he was finished (laffable).
Hartson, Le Tissier,Moravcik,Jan Molby, and even Messi are/were not inclined to run about like headless chickens for 90 mins.
No they had quality and skills to combat this. Commons whilst not in this company is the same at this level.
Are we back to the bad old days where a fitter player will do rather than a better player.I thought we were past this crap.
I will have Commons any day of the week over SJ as he will create more and score more.
Surely now that he is fit again RD will play him and like most of the above he is the type of player who needs games to stay fit.

Couldn't agree more rayman! Said umpteen times that commons is a must in the team! We're not in a position to leave players with his qualities on the sidelines! He's the only one with that something different in the squad! As was proved last nite! 2 assists and should have been 3 when griffiths should score to make it 3-1! He would be in my team every week! Hopefully he's fit and Ronnie sticks with him! He done more in one game last night than Johannsen has done all season!

I've always said that Commons has a level, against top European teams I think he is a luxury. Loads of fans love him, and I absolutely respect that. He has no pace, and no change of pace, and he isn't fit enough for me. Guys like Le Tissier were at a different level, it was also a different mentality back then, at least to a point. You'll be bringing up George Best next. You are coming up against players now who are like super middle weight boxers, so it's all relative. That was also a very poor Ajax team. I'm pleased with the result though. Going forward though, guys like Izzy, Commons, Stokes, Ambrose(who done ok last night slso, but has at least 1 mistake in him every game)Mulgrew,Forrest aren't the answer. I prefer players who give you a 7/8 every game as opposed to someone who is giving you an 8 then a 2 then a 5 then a 3 then a 7!

And by the way there are plenty players who run around a lot, but with their head up, and still control, and impact a game, - look at the German team a couple of weeks ago. If Commons was so good why has a bigger team not come in for him, he is nearly 33 and been out of contract twice, he has only had a couple of offers each time, from us and a couple of Championship teams, I think that classy bunch from the Southside of Glasgow might have also been interested before he signed for us, but we can't all be wrong, nobody of note has fancied him! So the only thing that is laughable is your intransigent views, which are nonsense, and have nothing to back them up. Lubo was 33 when we signed him and his game had changed, in France where he also ran the show he was much more dynamic, as well as being world class technically, - Commons has been like this his whole career. I take no pleasure saying it, I am saying it as I see it, how loads of people see it, I really hate though when people start saying things as a matter of fact when it is just their opinion!

Delphic what are u slabbering on about pal! Lol! Uve went from George best to super middle weight boxers to Ajax being pish all in the one breath! Nobody's saying commons is a top level player pal! But he's a level above anyone else creativity wise is our squad! One look at the game last night will tell u that! He cost us 300 grand and has banged in a barrel load of goals for us! He's more than paid that money back and then some! In our current state and the squad lacking real quality then like I said before, commons should never never be out the team! And wee Forrest has pace and a Change of pace, does that make him a player? Commons doesn't need pace mate! He doesn't run about like a maniac because he doesn't have to! But if he's anywhere near the oppositions box u can be sure he'll create a chance for his self or somebody else! Or at least have an effort at goal! Give the guy a break for God's sake!! And let's not go back to fitness eh! The whole team have looked unfit going into the last 20 min of a game this season! And our whole squads got a level mate, and it ain't against top European teams! It's SPL and Europa league level! And commons is more than capable on both fronts as was proved last night against that pish Ajax team who are top of the Dutch league rite now! A Dutch league that contains a psv team that beat Manchester United 3 nites ago!!

18 Sep 2015 22:54:57
The player I would most liken commons with is Ronaldinho ball at his feet in anywhere near the opposition goal he gets you off your bum and you don't want to see him in your own half because that's not where suits his style or strengths

18 Sep 2015 23:51:07
No offence mate but your having a laugh likening Commons to Ronaldhino . I like Commons myself when he feels he's in the mood to play but when he gets a standing applause from opposing fans ( especially the biggest rivals ) then only then you can compare Commons to one of Ronaldhinos legs .

19 Sep 2015 00:02:46
How does Ronnie get his credibility back?,playing Commons,I think was an admission he has got it all wrong since he came to Celtic,he has been trying to force a system that he has this idealogical belief in on a group of players that it does'nt fit,he has to start acting like a manager and using the players at his disposal to the best of their abilities, rather than leaving them open to critiscm when they can't operate his 'system' from some of the complete headbangers on here

19 Sep 2015 00:08:14
DEEAITCH I'm sure I saw some sevconians applauding when he stuck that one in the top corner in February! Haha! Know what u mean Gordo mate! Think comparing him with Ronaldinho mite be a bit much but hahaha!

19 Sep 2015 00:16:02
You're the one slabbering on, calling me pal or mate in every sentence. I know Commons record in Scotland, my point was at European level. Stokes and Mulgrew are good enough for Scotland also. You rate Commons,I don't, life will carry on as normal. This is a poor, not pish, Ajax team, they don't have 1 top top player for the first time probably in their History. They've sold Vertongen, Alderweireld and Erikson in the last few years, and had some of the greatest players that's ever played the game in their teams. If you're going to come on shouting your mouth off back it up. Since Commons scored the 30 goals a year and a half ago he's only had a handful of good games.

19 Sep 2015 00:21:45
He's only had a handful of games ,full stop, how many games has he started since Ronnie came?

19 Sep 2015 00:30:01
I'm no comparing them skill wise lol I was just meaning he's all attack and is one of the more exciting players to watch and defence not been his strong point

19 Sep 2015 00:47:16
Maybe Ronny doesn't rate him either, it is cool after all for people to have different opinions. I don't know what his application is like on the training pitch. I've already said, domestically he would be better than any other player in Scotland, out with the rest of the Celtic team, in Europe though some of the players are like machines, and run more than twice the distance he does. And I'm talking technical players, not box to box midfielders or whatever.

19 Sep 2015 00:57:47
Delphic How is calling somebody mate slabbering? A can see your no used to anyone calling u mate or pal! Hahaha! And forgive me but did commons not score the winning goal that got us into the last 16 of the CL! Or the breakthrough goal against Karagandy! And u just made my point for me PAL! Commons scored 33 goals before rd came in and he's hardly had any games!! In that time we've been knocked out the CL 3 times! Sounds like your the one shouting your gub aff PAL! I thought I did back it up by saying Ajax are top of the Dutch league, that's a fact! Which has the psv side that Just beat Manchester United 3 nites ago, there's another fact!! Think u should put your baby Cham down and go back to watchn your super middle weight boxing Hahahaha

19 Sep 2015 09:09:43
That's the thing about the old Babycham, - you're as fresh as a daisy the morning after. No, fair play that was quite funny, and brought back some good memories of being half pissed at 5 years old! The pal and mate thing is just super patronising, but if you don't like people disagreeing with you then there's nothing I can do about that. The only reason I made the boxing reference was because I was talking about fitness, and strength - surely it's not to much to ask, when I'm spending thousands of pounds every year following my team, for the players to be as fit, and strong as possible - it could give them an extra 10/20% which could be the difference. You rate Commons, which is cool, I think he's ok. Ronny obviously isn't sure, and every other manager around, not even counting the top managers, seems unconvinced by him also, because they've not tried to sign him, and we're not a club renowned for knocking back bids for our players. Anyway it's your opinion that matters pal. Oh and if you're going to start gauging our team/players against Karagandy then we'd be as well chucking it, because they are possibly the worst team I've seen us playing in Europe. You're also raving away about Ajax being top of their league, they've played about 5 games, haven't played PSV or Feyenoord, and so haven't been tested. If you think it is a good team then you obviously didn't see them when they were winning their European Cups, I think it's 4 they've won. Aberdeen are top of our league, and Leicester are 2nd in England, - what does that tell us?

19 Sep 2015 10:42:13
I will wait a few more games before I agree on the RD credibility point as he should have hooked Izzaguire before he got a red card - as everyone saw it coming bar the manager and his persistence with Gordon is costing us goals every week.
There is no doubt Commons has the skill, but it's his stamina that worries me - not his lack of pace.
He tires and makes mistakes - and like Lustig is not capable of lasting 90 minutes; so there are two substitutions accounted for already - before injury or tactical needs.

19 Sep 2015 12:19:18
Some fair comments and some strange 1s lol. let's look at the fact(sorry opinions). Commons is accused of lacking fitness, so has the rest of the team this season. He is accused of not being good enough for top Euro level. Not 1 of our players is good enough for that. Is accused of tiring at end of
game so do other players. Is accused of making mistakes. See Izzy Boyata Brown Gordon and the rest for these. Is accused of not being good enough or he would a been snapped up. Well he over 30 so not many teams buy these players as no resale value, and most of our players don't get snapped up.But for 300k he been a steal.
Is also accused of being the best domestically. So if this is the case and 90 % of or games are domestic, then why the hell is he not playing lol.

19 Sep 2015 12:54:15
I agree Rayman about the other players in the team, I also agree with JungleJim about the stamina thing. I know Commons is easy on the eye, and has done well for us domestically, his goal scoring record is also redicilous for a midfielder. Our league is poor though, and my point about no managers not wanting to sign him was based on his whole career. I know clubs don't pay big money for 33 year olds, - why was no one interested when he was 23 though? The reason we got him for 300k was because he was out of contract, and no big clubs wanted him. When he was under contract he was valued at roughly £1.5 million, and was championship level in England. That's my only point about him, I absolutely respect everyone who thinks otherwise. I also said I thought he was better than any other player in Scotland out with our team - so he would walk into any other team in the SPL, but I prefer Johansen in that position. I know he has been rotten this year, and I would drop him, if Commons is playing well and is fit I have nothing against him playing instead, although going forward I quite like Armstrong, and the no 10 role is definitely his best position. The whole team lacks real quality though, the striking position is a disgrace. Izzy should have got hooked the other night, that's my criticism of Ronny, he is a little naive, but I like how he is thinking long term, trying to build something from the youths up, but he isn't faultless. Lustig would be the first name on my team sheet, but you're right - I don't remember him ever finishing a game, and has also missed large chunks of different seasons. I think if you look at the minutes he could have played compared to what he has played it must be less than half. Kayal was the same, and it means you are technically paying him double for what you're getting back!

19 Sep 2015 20:22:42
Commons is more than useful going forward but I think Lustig would wonder where his support was . Johannson has set up at least twice as many goals and scored a couple as well this season . Johannson's busyness around the field inspires others to work harder . Commons just doesn't have that work rate in him but he certainly can influence a game . It's unfortunate for players like Commons that it appears hard work is nearly the first attribute that managers look in a player . Fitness is more and more important in modern managers thinking . It hasn't gone away u , know .

19 Sep 2015 21:46:00
Players like commons do not need pace.they have football intelligence which means they can see things that lots of players cant.a bit like teddy sheringham.their footballing brain finds them space and allows them to create.we do not have a player like that except commons

20 Sep 2015 14:47:07
Every player needs mobility and a good hard working ethics , Commons did brilliant when Johannson won the ball off Ajax and passed to Commons . Although Commons used good foot work and picked out a great pass for Bitton , nothing would have happened if the hard working Johannson , who is off form this season hadn't put the hard work and desire to win the ball in the first place . Both players probably complement each other .
