The one thing that terrifies me about deila is that when he came in he had a strict philosophy. We had a pressing style based on superior fitness that would allow us to attack aggressively but also entertain. the shape of all our sides from first right the way down to youth would be 4,3,2,1.

Now it took him the best part of 6 months but the second part of last season we totally looked the part and after having defended deila to friends all season I felt vindicated.

However this season, bit by bit. that philosophy has wittered away. we no longer press in any type of disciplines system, there has been multiple instances of us blowing ourselves out after 70 minutes and our play has become slow and deliberate.

I understand that deila is not in total control of recruitment but this loss of focus in his original watertight philosophy on football worries me to the point I question everything on him.

Is it just me that thinks this?

My thoughts exactly cmcelt I remember watching a game last year against Dundee I think when every player in the team touched the ball before Brown Scored it was a great goal and at that moment I thought this is it! Delia has finally got the team playing his way! But unfortunately there is no consistency in our play! One week we get beat by Motherwell the next we hit 8 past Hamilton but more ad more it seems to be the poor performances we are seeming we never seem to be able to built up a mometom!
Again today we looks like we lacked ideas! Our passing isn't fast and slick it's slow and predictable!

I have posted similar myself about my concerns about the deterioration since the second half of the previous season.
The quick tempo and high fitness has definitely faded significantly, but the slump in form of so many players who were outstanding last term is also worrying.
I would have hoped and expected us to improve even more this season, but a mixture of poor displays, numerous basic errors, lack of energy and disappointing signings have contributed to a noticeable decline.
I thought we had managed to get past our slump in Nov/ Dec, but we seem to have hit another at a crucial and costly time and there is something not right about our whole game right now and it is clearly a concern for a lot of us and the manager.

The High press, fast, fit, entertaining football last 6/ 8 games maximum, regulars in those games were, Stokes, Emilio, Henderson, and a player we used to have called Johansson.

4.) 08 Feb 2016 18:00:14
That player called Johansson, is suffering. From chronic injury this season . That plus the fact that some of our fans at matches have got to him mentally with the abuse hurled at him . He is quoted as finding it hard to take as he says he is trying as hard this season as last season when he was player of the year .

Is anyone else seriously worried that we are going to be left with only ciftci and Griffiths.ciftci is one of the most disappointing signings I can ever remember. Yes its early but he has shown nothing and having watched him last season I think we have totally wasted 1.5 million. Griffiths will get goals but we do need another more than I can remember for a long time.

There's strikers out there who'd do a great job such as Beric from Rapid Vienna (scored about 25 league goals last season) or Soriano (unreal goals/games ratio and funnily enough scored tonight on his return from injury). Guys like this would probably cost £2-3 million and would pay for themselves with their goals return.

2.) 27 Aug 2015 22:19:37
Scepovic has been extremely disappointing so far. but I would rather see him get a run of games. I think if he was a regular in the team he would produce goals (along with a few misses I am sure). Far from the finished article but I would rather put my faith in him than Nadir Ciftci.

3.) 27 Aug 2015 22:28:26
I tell you what is scarier than that cm!

They have sent Fisher out on loan, no way is Lustig going through a season injury free IMO , no much cover at LB and Lustig is going to replace VVD @ CH to try and keep his injuries down! Janko can play maybe wing back but is no RB IMO

But heh ho all is cool because we have Mulgrew & Efe as a back up plan :-0

4.) 27 Aug 2015 22:58:14
Seems that a lot of fans admired the job Rosenberg did on Tuesday, using all his experience to help his team through.

Can't help but think big Samaras' experience would have helped us on Tuesday night. Big man would've provided a target man or an out ball if he was playing up front or even wide left.

Id say the seasons going pretty well so far. Unbeaten in europa league.still in the league cup and after a shaky start on course in the league. All of that achieved while we have only hit top gear two or three times.id say that's a reason to be optimistic.

cmcelt

1.) It is good don't get me wrong, I'm just not as optomistic about our EL chances after last night.

2.) We appear to be on the right road . Gordon didn't really have to perform miracles last night, as we have tightened up defence and midfield .

3.) 07 Nov 2014 21:47:47
If you consider a draw against possibly the poorest team in the EL as progress then I suggest we define what progress is?

4.) Jimtim I'm in the same frame of mind as you on qualifying from the group.i think it's fair to say, dinamo were a far better side than us on the night, so for me we won't take anything from the game away, which puts added pressure on the team against red bull, and we don't do very well when we are under pressure.red bull are an excellent side and with no pressure on them having already qualified could be a hard night anyway here's hoping I'm wrong.killy.

5.) That's what I was thinking Killy. To be honest, I don't know how our performances have got us in second spot! Unless they improve we'll be out. The Astra game was a must win - you have to take maximum points off 'weaker' sides, and hope others slip up.

6.) 08 Nov 2014 10:15:30
JimTim, 100% right, we had to win that game. Even a draw against red bull only gives us 9 points. If Dynamo win against Astra which they will they are on 7 points and we are away to them next game so a win for them and we are out. It's Maribor time!

7.) Dynamo were hammered this week, what if they don't beat the team who beat Lyons to actually qualify for the Europa League .

Remember in the 70' s Greaves saying its a funny old game .

8.) 09 Nov 2014 13:42:38
Chris if we are relying on Astra to beat Dynamo to get us into the last 32 draw then we may as well pack it all in now. We need to win these games. We will meet far superior teams in the CL qualifiers.

Utter pish talk. Martin o Neill took over a club with a mental block when it came to facing rangers and winning leagues. We had won one league in ten years and finished 20 odd points behind a free spending rangers the season before. Strachan did do a good job but he took over Celtic team who had lost the league by a point and who were still a better team than rangers at the time. yes there were big contracts but we were no longer inferior and had a mentality of success which O'Neil instilled in us.

That is quite worrying. do u think, since ultimately he is the one being judged by fans, that deila will pleas his case and stand up to his superiors or has he already done so.?

cmcelt

{Ed007's Note - It's not his job to stand up to anyone, he's a coach and shouldn't get involved in things that don't concern him. What people struggle to grasp is that RD isn't a MON type of manager, very few of today's managers/coaches have total control over the footballing side of things. It's not the way modern clubs are ran, Arsene Wegner will be the last of them when he leaves Arsenal in the summer. Man Utd have the same problem we have, too many cooks all cooking different dishes, clubs like Chelsea, Man City, Spurs etc etc the list is long all have people who run that side of things. Liverpool use (or did use until Klopp came in, I'm not sure) a committee to decide transfer strategy, Roman Abramovich has some of the finest minds in football as advisers, advisers he listens to over ANY manager. AVB was sacked by Chelsea after a study of the footballing department found that his training methods weren't up to scratch, BOOM he was out the door.
It's the people above the manager/coach that make the club, Guardiola will go into Man City and everything is in place for a top club, the basics like diet and fitness won't need revamped at City.
Top clubs have the tools in place so that when they change manager/coach there is as little disruption to the club's continuing success. What you're seeing at CFC isn't a result of appointing RD as manager, it's a result of long term neglect to the footballing side. There isn't a manager in England, Spain or Germany that had to look at the player's diet and training regime etc. They had the right idea with Collins and Kennedy
Far too much emphasis was put on the NL chest thumping way of football management, and while it was good for a couple of years it was pretty dire in the bigger picture and there was no forward planning whatsoever, we consistently sold off our better players and replaced them with more and more contrived projects.
Everybody is blaming RD for not qualifying for the CL but the blame doesn't lie solely with him, we've seen what the good times were like under Lawwell and Park, their time has peaked and is now in decline because they dropped the ball keeping NL on and not having any long term plan except to make money and keep PL's bonuses up. The academy and youth set-up was neglected under NL and that's the biggest mistake PL has made, leaving JP to run the football side of things while NL was manager.}

Here ed was it not deila that signed Allan. if he really is as bad as you should we not be questioning deila?

{Ed007's Note - RD first spoke to Scott Allan on the phone the night before he signed.}

Collum is terrible but does not hold an agenda against anyone in particular, just football in general.

I really would sign a petition to get him out of football . he's ruined so many games its ridiculous.
