I'm sure 99% of us said the same about Mulgrew... even when Lennon signed him I questioned it... happy to have been proved well and truly wrong!

Hi Ed First time post keep up the good work.
Any update on the Foster and Henrikson situation sees to be dragging on a bit. PaisleyBhoy {Ed001's Note - Forster is as good as done, no idea why it has not been confirmed officially, it's a strange one. Henriksen has a lot of interest, a number of clubs are willing to match the asking price, so it will be his choice. No idea what he will choose, it will be a personal decision.}

Hows yous all doing, first time poster. CELTIC are closing in on a loan move for Manchester City kid Mohammed Abu.
The Ghanaian midfielder has just ended a loan spell in Norway with Stromsgodset.
Premiership champions City want to farm him out again this season to a bigger club and that has alerted Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
But they will have to compete with Belgian title-holders Anderlecht, who they are also trying to fight off in the chase to capture Rosenborg midfielder Markus Henriksen.
And 20-year-old Abu would welcome a move to Scotland.
He said: “I am sad to leave Stromsgodset but I am leaving with a good feeling because we are top of the league and playing great football.
“I am now returning to Manchester and they want me to play in a stronger league to speed up my development.
“There have been Dutch teams watching me in the stands and Spanish and Scottish teams are also interested.”
Abu, who joined Man City in 2010, had two loan spells with Stromsgodset and made a big impression.
He was part of Ghana’s squad for this year’s African Nations Cup and has two years left on his contract at Eastlands.
Now Celtic are interested in offering him Champions League experience. (in the DR so that means f all)

Well that's Celtic winning the league for the next clatter of years, without Rangers AND Celtic the SPL is a boring no-no, I'll still go BUT it won't be the same, not much fun with those other also-rans

Agree0 Disagree0

Don't pay any notice to the Daily Record, they don't get any information on transfer targets for Celtic! NL does his business on the quiet and we'll know who they are when the club tells us. I do think that we may have a bit of book balancing to do now it's official they are out of the league so everyone keep the faith PL & DD will see us through!

I don't fully understand the reasoning in looking at players such as Abu. He may be a talented boy (although i haven't actually seen him play) but is he any better than Wanyama, Kayal or Brown...players of the same style?

Heard yesterday from a reliable source that there is a young guy coming over from australia for a trial with us in the coming weeks ( Brodie Patterson ) was born in scotland but has dual nationality in australia, He plays for the australian national team at u19 level. Maybe another good edition to our youth squad for future first team appearances. Maybe Goldcoast Bhoy will have heard something on this one ED ?

The lad played two year with us at youth level so the connection is already there.
Ait of a titch at 5'4" so not sure if he'd handle the cloggers in the SPhelL but sounds like a jinky wee player.
Here's a report I found on the lad from Oz.

BRODIE PATERSON

An attacking midfielder, Brodie Paterson has exceptional technique and skill handling the ball and reading the play.

Patterson was born in Australia but his parents moved to Dumfries, Scotland when he was eight months old.

Naturally, he fell for Scotland’s national sport and started playing at Mexthistle FC as a junior.

Progressing to Celtic FC, who are a traditional football stronghold in the Scottish Premier League, Paterson played for two seasons in the Celtic Youth Team.

Following his return to Australia, he was accepted into the Victorian Institute of Sport in 2007 where he played for two years and then became part of the Australian national u/17s team, the Joeys in 2009-2010.

Patterson has battled unfortunate ankle injuries in recent times but is a promising young player in the Melbourne Heart FC National Youth League.

Height: 167 cm; Weight: 62 kg; Date of Birth: April 5, 1994.

This boy hails from Dumfries and his Father used to play for Celtic youths as a boy and latterly with Annan Athletic. I remember him as a wee boy at Annan and his skill level back then was amazing.

Brodie used to stay just around the corner from me. His dad used to be a scout at Crewe and he moved abroad to Oz a few years ago. He's trained with Celtic before, as well as Juventus and other big European clubs in the past. Not seen him since he moved to Oz, but from what I remember of him he was a small, nippy winger but that may have changed. Always throught he was a cracking player.

He's at Melbourne Heart, plying his trade. I haven't seen him play, but reports seem good. Having played with our juniors I'm sure we'd have kept tabs on the boy.

167cm is just under 5'6" - still small but probably no shorter than shaun maloney.

I have seen this lad play up in Coffs Harbour In the national State competitions as my son was playing for Queensland. The kid was an absaloute stand out. I remember him going on to play for Australia at youth level. Hail hail.
