Ed. do you think lawell is tight fisted and just trys to make him and the board money. Or do you think he really has celtic at heart and trys to run us in the right way so wee do not get carried away and end up like sevco.

{Ed007's Note - I know it sounds like I'm sitting on the fence but I think it's a bit of both but that's what his job is. He's tasked to make the Club (and shareholders) money and keep the Club at the top in Scotland & delivering European football. Just remember that Peter Lawwell only does what the board tells him to do.}

Thats something iv always wonderd why does lawell always get the greif he gets when its desmond and a few others who run the show. There billionaires for a reason and its not with splashing money around. I think wee spend okay for the standard of league wee play in. feel wee could push the boat a small bit at times.

{Ed007's Note - I'd agree with that mate, the odd splash of cash like Edouard or even Ntcham gives the supporters, and team, a boost.}

The reason Lawwell has lasted more than 15 years as CEO for Celtic is because he is carrying out his duties obeying D D and the Board . P L has never sought popularity from the fans, he doesn't need it .
PL obeys the Board at all times and he knows that if a dispute arises between him and manager he can be confident of Board support.

He only gets the grief, because all football supportersare are idiots when it becomes a choice between buying a supposed superstar or balancing books, how many want to buy the superstar get into the champions League, make mucho millions, then balance the books, and put the extra revenue into developing young players, when in reality, the superstar turns out to be someone like Pena or Cascarino or Scheit or whoever, and there is no qualification for the champions League, but there is still huge wages to be paid for said superstar, and then the books don't look like they are going to balance, and you become very Close to taking out a loan, and maybe you do, I think Lawwell has to be commended for the way Celtic is being run,

Lawwell is there for the board no doubt about that as ed says long as were top in Scotland (which tbf is all I care about) then job done. Dermot intervenes now and again over the top hence Rodgers appointment and Keane signing. Here one for u all beat in Scotland or chase a European dream?

06 Mar 2019 13:24:15
Domestic dominance.

06 Mar 2019 13:25:46
Welshy by default if we chase a European dream we should have a squad that is capable of Scottish domination.

06 Mar 2019 13:39:24
Both 😂.

Aindoh. Loans should not be an option when you have billionaires on are board.

{Ed007's Note - It doesn't work like that, no matter who's on the board we still have to comply with the FFP Regs mate. Dermot Desmond can't just turn round and say there's £50 million for this summer and I'll give you another £50m in January.

Clubs can spend up to €5million more than they earn per assessment period (three years). However it can exceed this level to a certain limit, if it is entirely covered by a direct contribution/payment from the club owner(s) or a related party. This prevents the build-up of unsustainable debt.

The limits are:
• €45m for assessment periods 2013/14 and 2014/15
• €30m for assessment periods 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18

In order to promote investment in stadiums, training facilities, youth development and women’s football (from 2015), all such costs are excluded from the break-even calculation.

So at best all the board could give us was circa £8.5 million a season per season which sound a lot but in my limited knowledge it would have a negative effect when it comes to the share price/Club value etc. and would need to be shown in the accounts.
Why does a successfully run company with money in the bank need donations from shareholders or the board?}

Im meaning wee should not have to fall back on loans if things go pear shaped with no qualify for europe after splashing the cash. But i understand what you mean ed its a shame wee have billionaires who are only aloud to give us limited amounts of cash. Why does city get to spend what they spend. Were are a far bigger club. Why is there billionaires aloud to run riot in the transfer market. Surely the celtic brand is more popular than the city brand world wide.

{Ed007's Note - Clubs like City and PSG get round the rules by the owners companies etc sponsoring the team for extortionate rates. Now if Dermot wanted to give us £50 million to have Sandy Lane Resorts on our shirt there would be no problem.}
