Can't believe the negativity surrounding signings.
Let's look at the current situation we find ourselves in.
Past two managers have mismanaged the playing staff and allowed to bring in gross players. You can blame PL if you like but we could have less players and at a better quality. That now means we have too many average players who are picking up a tidy wage with no intention of leaving.

BR needs to assess before identifying areas that we need to strengthen. I would much rather wait for the right player than pick up more average dross.
I have faith in BR and what he shall bring to the club. He also needs to build confidence into a squad that was pulled from pillar to post last season with all the changes made.

We shall only get stronger. Martin Oneill took time to build a squad of quality players and BR should've given the same support and trust.
Koulo Toure is a good signing for us considering we lack experience and can only help Erik and Jo.
Keep the Faith.

Im with you on that post scotia88, i can understand fans getting a wee bit worried because of past problems, but we must move on in a positive and calm manner, everyone just keep the head. I always leave judgement on how things are going at the halfway point of a season. The way of the world now because of social media is some fans want answers within seconds of an event. Patience it seems is a thing of the past unfortunatly.

I agree with both above, we have good youngsters, many here rejoiced that O'Connell was too slow and couldn pass . Well today against the Champions of England the richest league in the World, O'Connell didn't look the place and not only defended well scored a peach of a goal from open play . We should appreciate what we have and trust our manager to bring in the correct players when he can.

Leicester weren't even close to match for. Let's not forget that that's a glorified friendly with 22 unfit players with 8 subs etc so I don't look at it that way. All about fitness at this stage albeit a little more competitive.

Match fit*.

PedroCelt how can you not appreciate our wee team that some people were writing off as diddys 10 days ago after first leg of Qualiflier against Lincoln Imps, were u not proud of the improvement and what a night for O'Connell, many said he was too slow but he was fast enough in open play to get to within 20yds of Leicester's goal and finish with style . Young O' Connell will remember his first goal against English finest for one hell of a time .
Give him and his team mates some well deserved praise . I M O they deserve it.

Your opinion is all that counts to you. You can't apportion massive credit to them I don't think because it's a friendly. Dress it up what ever way you like but it's a friendly. The result against the red imps away was a freak result and due to a dangerous and shocking pitch. A freak result. There could only be improvements so no I'm not proud of the so called progress because I don't think that here's been a noticeable amount of progress. Yes the young boy had a decent game today in the friendly but like everyone else I will judge my team in a competitive environment. Red imps aren't even in there to compare. Nobody wrote Celtic off after the red imps game. People mocked but I would bet that not one person thought realistically Celtic would lose over 2 legs against them. I think the boy is too slow I also think he looks clumsy and I think he isn't in our top 5 centre halves but a decent prospect if he can pick up and extra 3 yards of pace from somewhere.

It seems to me Pedro your opinion is all that counts to you .
I think you are right to think that and of course if u want to be negative, you are also right.

24 Jul 2016 03:14:52
Negativity breeds negativity. Imo, the English premiership is a higher class of football and no matter what level the English teams are at, they are going to be difficult to play against. That Leicester team are no diddles. We played well and deserve praise. I see improvement from the first game. We all have passion for our club but praise the players and the team deserve it.

I was one who thought O Connell was not good enough. I am willing to admit I maybe wrong, I think he has improve since last year looked fitter and has lost weight but added muscle. He looked better than Ambrose and Boyata and with Simanovic, McCart or Kelleher could provide a new young defensive team for the forseeable future. Toure is a good short term fix and will add the experience we need. I would love to see youth given a chance everytime before we bought more players. That is the positive now for the negative what was Gordon doing.

Pedro whit are u on get aff yer high horse and give deserved praise celtic played well against champions of so called best league in world, the game was played at a terrific pace and it was not like your average friendly did u not see Leicester celebrate at the end young o connel was excellent in a high tempo game and looked as good as anyone, of course we could always just go with effe if u want.

cant deny it was an exiting match pedro, didn't feel like a meaningless fitness test to me as a lot of these matches do, leicester fitness was fantastic for their 2nd game, plus two cracking goals.

24 Jul 2016 10:40:37
Bhoywonder it was a good exciting match but nothing concrete can be taken from a friendly. 1 team further ahead in preparation than the other is my point here. If this was a match in the champions league group games in 8 weeks time I would be on here singing praises of the result but this was a glorified friendly. Some players played really good I'm not saying they didn't but it's a friendly. I'm not being negative it's realistic. Most other people on here agree that friendlys mean nothing when it comes to actual competitive fitness and sharpness. It didn't have the complete feel of a fitness test but I think that it's testament to the organisers and for Celtic to participate because it's a much better way of getting players into the right frame of mind due to it being quite prestigious and a tournament. Celtic won something like this a few years ago did they not? Against Ajax and a few other big names? The players will have benefitted from it and will continue to do so in each of the matches. I know I'm ranting but I'm surprised that people are being so fully of praise for players in a friendly. It was encouraging but they are still miles away from world beaters.

24 Jul 2016 10:56:46
Who mentioned world beaters we're only commenting on what we see if we'd been pumped 5 -0 you'd have been on slating them and it being a friendly as well.

24 Jul 2016 11:08:09
If we're going into the hypothetical I would have hypothetically have said that there's a lot of work to be done. Slating players in friendlys is stupid as is coming up with made up scorlines and assuming what my reaction would be.

24 Jul 2016 11:26:14
Still on the high horse come on down and join the rest of us mate.

24 Jul 2016 15:38:35
Pedrinho you think u are realistic many others on here think you r negative.
