What does anyone think about a bid for Adam Rooney can score a goal and had a good physical presence. In a better team like Celtic I think he would thrive.

He has found his level, flopped in the lower leagues of England.

There ain't one player in the SPL that gets on our sub bench never mind the first team

Let's set our sights higher.

I agree, no one from the SPL what about Mc Ginn from Hibs?

04 Jun 2016 16:30:08
Old bhoy

He is like a young Phil odonell but IMVHO actually better

I rate McGinn very very highly

He will be in EPL like McCarthy in 2 years in my view

Great shout.

Why do we let players like mc carthy slip thru the net so often. I'd hate to miss out on mc ginn then see him in the epl. Look at mc carthy down there, God knows what he's worth now n we had the chance to get him first for what a million? I'd say wed get mc ginn for less than a million if we done it this year, wait till next year n he'll be heading south.

Think Rooney would improve our squad to be honest.
Would rather him than ciftci.
Would he handle the step up?
No one knows but guys like wee mcdonald and Griffiths have but then plenty haven't.
Was always taught to judge players playing in scotland on how thwy preform against celtic.
Hartley
Robson
McDonald always played well against us.
Rooney seems to cause us problems every time we play the sheep.

Kev that's quite true what you say about them causing us problems so maybe worth a punt, no actually because we need to them to able to pull their weight against European competition. Celtic need a full 11 of players who can compete in Europe so for me that's the reason why Rooney is no use. As is most other Scottish talent; not all though, there are a few shinning lights but sadly few and far between and we already have one of them in Tierney.

04 Jun 2016 19:53:01
Kev I think the issue is that he went from ICT down south and was a shadow of himself and then headed back up north. For many this makes him a likely SPFL journeyman and not therefore good enough for CFC

At least that's my reading of the situation.

The striker position is probably one of the most difficult positions on the team to fill. We know for whatever reason we have got it wrong at least five times for every once we got it right. I doubt if Rooney is likely to be an answer for us . The R O I have problems in their squads for a striker and have decided against Rooney and opted for D Murphy . Now MO 'N knew his strikers particularly when he managed Celtic and if he rates D Murphy ahead of Rooney, I won't disagree with him.

04 Jun 2016 20:12:24
Perdocelt if you judge him like that I take it you wouldn't have sighed
Barry Robson fae Dundee United
Paul hartley fae hearts
Scott McDonald fae motherwell?
Celtic always make European player and have very rarely sighed them.
Even the team that went to seville was full of playerseason that hadn't really played in Europe before celtic.

04 Jun 2016 20:19:28
Rooney has caused problems but think that's more down to our poor defence
Ciftci Berget flood cause problems but couldn't make the step up when given the chance
I like McGinn but think Henderson is a better player I'd only take McGinn if it meant getting rid of other fringe players
I like shinnie and thought he could have been a good signing but the emergence of kt puts that to bed.

04 Jun 2016 20:29:18
Can't agree with Mcginn. He is playing at a low level and till he proves himself in the top league in Scotland at least then should be no where near our squad.

04 Jun 2016 20:32:06
Old Bhoy D Murphy is playing very well and scoring a good amount of goes at the moment for Ipswich is he not?
Sometimes it just doesn't work out for a player at a club then when they move on something clicks for them.

Murphy had one good season, sure last season he was back to his pishy best.

I never think that it only the player himself who deserves all the credit when he does well.
I don't think that it is necessary the player who deserves all the blame, if he is having a bad season . A player often needs players playing around him utilising his strengths to get the best out of him . That's often why scouts watch players countless number of times trying to ascertain whether the player will fit into their set-up or not We have often signed big strikers and got nothing in return.
