Was just wondering out of all the players that have been released from clubs in the Premiership, is there anyone that you would sign?

Agree0 Disagree0

I thought RD's forte was developing and bringing on young players,why don't we have a moritarium on buying or signing on new players and let RD have a good go at bringing on Celtics own young players,this might mean we won't be as successful for a season or two,and the only sing when we are winning brigade might not like this ,but I feel like Celtic are losing their identity,they are becoming just another business brand,being exploited because they worship at the door of success by any means,if Celtic could afford it and they could buy the likes of messi and ronaldo etc,so they could guarentee success,would the majority of suporters be happy with that?,I think they would but count me out.

Respect your opinion but that stance means we will never play on an even playing field. The odds are set way too high for us or any other teams in similar leagues to win this competition. Sure, there will be the occasional deserved win and all but in the end. The fair play rules concept is designed to help smaller leagues and clubs to get some chance but in reality, we have seen that it's just another token and has no major effect on the big guns.

What continually bothers me is if we ever get a young player into the team they invariably come from elsewhere. Hubs and united recently. We seem to win all the cups in regard to the younger players but there is very little, if any, real quality coming through from Lennoxtown.

The hopes I had for developing real talent has not happened. Why do these smaller teams manage producing players we want to buy whilst at the same time send our own out on loan?

To me it's not happening and wonder what the problem is.

14 Jul 2015 14:38:17
Yeah I would hate it if we had to endure Messi/Ronaldo every week lol. Imagine if we had to put up with the type of football Barca produce every week it would be torture.

14 Jul 2015 16:35:40
The reason is. The smaller clubs can't afford to go out and sign ready made replacements. So they HAVE to go with youth.

14 Jul 2015 23:16:08
Yes Marco,they have to go with youth,so what are they doing in their youth development that we are not doing here?,how can DU produce gauld ,mackay-smith,armstrong,russel,goodwillie,soutar, etc,hibs ,hearts even little livi has produced some really talented players,is that what the difference is ,at other clubs young players get a run in the 1st team,whereas at Celtic,they get sent out on loan,they get disheartened and their development stalls,because the fans crave a player that's cost a tranfer fee,I hope young Henderson gets a good run in the first team this year.

{Ed007's Note - Do you think players like Armstrong, Gauld and GMS would have been the players they are if they had spent their youth career at CFC?}

No Ed.

Deila doesn't allways sign young players. Cifci is in fact a bit typical kind of odd signing you would see from Deila, but he does for a reason. He's had his share of odd signings in his time in Størmsgodset, but they where signed with an intention.
Of course some of the "odd signings" turned out to be Stefan johansen, another being Jørgen Horn.
Jørgen Horn when Deila picked him up had being dropped by two different clubs and gotten his contract terminated, cause of massive alcohol abuse, violence and such.
He played most of the games in their championship season, pairing with Kim Andre Madsen.
I'd rather see him signing a player on a free who fits the bill, who will work his ass of to make the team than a "class player" who only wants eventually his "dream move" no matter how many bridges will burm.

"We may not have the best players. but we can have the best team"

On the youth developement, you would have to wait a while to see some real potential coming thrue, but they will come and hopefully a good share of them.
I think the youngsters starting in your acadamy this season, who will follow a schedule from the age of 12-15 will have a much better base to make it, and if good enough Deila is not shy to give them games if he finds someone good enough.
(Martin Ødegaard debut age 13, Iver Fossum debut age 16, Gustav Wikheim debut age 17 and so on and is now regulars at Strømsgodset and of course you all know Ødegaard.
It did thought, take a while before you could see a big difference in the youth, the first batch of Deila's product if you like.

I think you are about to have a really good season guys, but the big question is;

If the scenario of Celtic missing to qualify for CL this season, would you call for Deila's head?

Maybe this could be made into a poll, ED007?

Sorry for the looong post here people, but with Deila you get someone who will try to build brick by brick, somewhat slow progression, but the end product being 10-15 years ahead of time and not 1 or 2, like modern football has become.

{Ed007's Note - It's always nice to get your input, NR as you know our manager's past and his methods better than any of us. The polls are out of commission just now as Ed033 redesigns sites.}

15 Jul 2015 17:04:24
Ah ok, bare hyggelig, min venn! I'm a little nervous on Deila's behalf, its allways the second season that is the vital one and there is not much that turns a great result to an absolute disaster. What I got out of Deila's last interview with a norwegian newspaper was that CL is the be or not to be and he said he has never been so nervous and excited at the same time.
Maybe missing the CL isn't enough to lose his job, but it could still be his downfall. That one result damaging the confidence enought to get into the wrong track.
Dont think it will come to that at all, but he could get sacked to early in the process.
But it seems that your club's reps have confidence in Deila, but for how long in a given scenario?

Hopefully it would end "and they lived happily. "

BTW, when does the match start tonight?

{Ed007's Note - 19:45 our time.}

15 Jul 2015 19:02:16
Thanks mate! I predict a win by a good margine tonight.
A win by three, at least. 4-1!

{Ed007's Note - (yes) I'll settle for that.}
