On this date in 1983,
Celtic overcame a 2-0 first leg defeat to hammer Sporting Lisbon 5-0.
It was strange because Sporting Lisbon wore the Hoops and Celtic played in our away strip at home.
Also 40 years ago today,
Celtic fan Frank McDougall scored 4 goals against his heroes in our 4-1 defeat at Pittodrie.
He never got the chance to follow in the footsteps of his former St. Mirren teammates Frank McAvennie and Billy Stark.
Exactly One Year ago today Celtic hammered Aberdeen 6-0 at Hampden.
Anything similar to that performance today should easily be enough.

Buzz I was at that Sporting game and yes they played in their home strip green white hooped tops black shorts and we played in our all lime green strip
Celtic blew them away with fast attacking football, let us hope our bhoys today blow sevco away.

The mcdougal game could've been a total embarrassment they tore us a new one that day and mgdougal was outstanding. didn't st mirren break the transfer record at time to buy him or was it aberdeen from St mirren . wasn't that old when he had to retire through injury . great player.

He had to retire at 29 years old.
Frank died from an illness a couple of years ago.
I was on a cruise ship the day Celtic beat Inverness in the cup final.
My Wife got talking to Man United fans who played City that day.
The guy asked the question who scored 4 against Celtic and I got it right away with Frank McDougall.
It turned out it was his Friend because Frank stayed near Manchester.
He was telling me that Frank was ill and then he sadly passed away the following year.

It was exactly 30 years ago we got beat 3-0 by PSG who had Mahe in their team.
PSG went on to win the Cup.
It was my pals 21st that day and a few of us ended up in Bairds for the first time before the game.
Bertie Auld served me my first of many pints over the years in Bairds.

Was in Paris for that they where a great team didn't they get a round of apllause after Celtic park game. thae game in Paris was it hoijdonk who missed a sitter of a header and blamed the floodlights.
