Here is what the laws of the game say on violent conduct - In addition, a player who, when not challenging for the ball, deliberately strikes an opponent or any other person on the head or face with the hand or arm, is guilty of violent conduct unless the force used was negligible.
In relation to the trusty incident, I am sure that must include leg and foot. I am also guessing the force was considered negligible.

And accidental. No doubt VAR looked at it and deemed it non malicious.
He was lucky though, going with the standards of the VAR teams.
