Spanish journalist Gerard Romero reporting that Barcelona are interested in signing Frimpong, don't know fee or if Celtic have sell on clause.

The Poet

1.) 15 Aug 2022 20:04:29
Barcelona have been forced to raise some serious funds, to comply with the Spanish FFP rules, to allow them to buy players in this transfer window.
They sold the rights, to rename their stadium Spotify Nou Camp.
Barcelona have sold a percentage to future TV rights.
And they have also sold 50% of future merchandise sales, to bring down that debt.

{Ed007's Note - It's well dodgy but they've managed to do it and they are bizarely interested in Frimpong.}

2.) 15 Aug 2022 20:17:38
Just proves the Eufa FFP rules are a joke.

{Ed007's Note - I used to know the basics of how they worked but over the last few years you'd need to be a high end lawyer or shady mofo to understand how clubs get round them.}

3.) 15 Aug 2022 21:46:39
The greater interests of the collective 'big clubs' will always find a solution. HH.

4.) 16 Aug 2022 09:39:47
FFP has been replaced by the Financial Sustainability Regulations. It targets 3 areas. The no overdue payables rule, the football earnings rule, and the squad cost rule. I think bizarrely the cap for squad cost is being phased in at 90, 80 then 70% of club revenues which seems a lot of wiggle room for clubs to start with. As far as I can tell the football earnings rule can be exploited by rich owners for club improvement purposes but not the playing squad itself.

5.) 17 Aug 2022 08:03:18
These teams are so much in debt and will sell family furniture to try and stay at the top and have expensive lawyers who will look at and bend the rules to their will to get what their team needs. The problem is fairplay rules are so muddy, so grey and probably written that way to help the so called bigger clubs. We wouldn't get away with the stuff they do. We should be happy though we are run properly and not a billion in debt like a lot of them. They get all the tv money and it's still not enough for them.

13 Aug 2022 11:40:17
Ideguchi now not fit and won't be in squad for Kilmarnock, maybe wouldn't have been anyhow, been very unlucky, don't think he's played an hour for us since arriving.

The Poet

1.) 13 Aug 2022 13:24:44
I don’t expect Ideguchi, Hatate, Starfelt or Welsh to take part at Rugby Park because Ange mentioned the surface wasn’t ideal, for our players to come back into the team, after being out injured.

2.) 13 Aug 2022 14:49:05
These patches should be banned totally demeans the league.

3.) 13 Aug 2022 16:16:39
Agreed mally it’s a disgrace and makes for anti football when left dry and unattended against certain teams. What players must think seeing those types of pitch in a top level league.

4.) 13 Aug 2022 18:49:59
I think all 12 Scottish Premiership clubs need to vote it out.
If One club votes to keep the plastic pitch, then there’s nothing the other clubs can do about it.
Currently we need both Killie and Livi to get relegated, to have a chance of voting the plastic pitches out, for good.

5.) 13 Aug 2022 19:19:52
Two of the main things with the SPL that infuriate me - that we can't do anything about - Plastic pitches and the SLY TV deal.

11 Aug 2022 17:48:12
Hatate, Maeda, Ideguchi all fit for Kilmarnock game, don't know about Welsh.

The Poet

1.) 11 Aug 2022 18:15:01
Alan power will try and injure one of them, if he is given the chance.

2.) 11 Aug 2022 22:30:33
He’s not at Kilmarnock anymore but he still might be able to injure one of them tbf.

3.) 11 Aug 2022 22:41:58
I think Welsh was only feeling ill last weekend and was sent home from training,

4.) 12 Aug 2022 00:15:37
I think Alan Power rejoined Kilmarnock when his contract with St Mirren finished at the end of May 2022.

5.) 12 Aug 2022 00:22:16
Pitch is going to be a nightmare probably not watered all week or at the weekend.

6.) 12 Aug 2022 12:27:12
You’re Glen he’s back at Killie, someone’s getting it.

7.) 12 Aug 2022 16:30:22
He can't help himself, anyone wearing a celtic shirt will have to be very careful, looking for a referee who will not let him away his usual fouls, and also if lafferty is there he is another one Celtic players will have to watch.

05 Aug 2022 14:07:02
Hatate out of Ross County game, Starfelt is available.

The Poet

1.) 05 Aug 2022 15:25:28
think Turnbull was due a start anyway. Abada for Maeda too.

2.) 05 Aug 2022 16:27:41
Maeda is crucial to the way we play, one of the first names on the team sheet.

3.) 05 Aug 2022 16:44:05
Why? Lots of effort and not a lot of end product?

4.) 05 Aug 2022 16:53:49
Maybe mooy will get a run but turnbull should be in on merit.

5.) 05 Aug 2022 16:59:44
Abada before Maeda all day long. Ability trumps athleticism for me.

6.) 05 Aug 2022 20:00:05
Agreed Chinks. HH.

7.) 06 Aug 2022 11:03:45
I love Maeda but Abada is different gravy.

The Bhoy has a lot of goals and assists in that bag of tricks of his and will only get better.

Christ, I wish Mikey was half the player Abada is.

☘️ ? ☘️.

8.) 06 Aug 2022 13:09:58
Maeda for enegy, speed, hard graft, chasing back and pressuring the opposition. Abada for creativity, pace, close-control and has more goals and assists in his locker. Horses for courses and both will play their part this season, but Abada just shades it for me too.

9.) 06 Aug 2022 00:03:30
Can see both arguments here. Maeda provides the energy and tempo (mainly to recover the ball i feel) to the boss’s game plans. I also agree that Abada has better end product and creativity than maeda but WE ALL have to remember that Abada is only 20 years old!

The young lad has hit the ground running and has huge potential but still has a lot to learn and hopefully it’s learnt here at Celtic for many years to come ??.

Rogic to sign for Omnia Nicosia.

The Poet

1.) 04 Aug 2022 19:59:53
There was a time when I seriously fancied retiring to Cyprus also ?
Good luck to him. He deserves it. He has always been a favourite of mine. Love fast footed skilful players.
?.

2.) 04 Aug 2022 22:03:58
Harry, I'm in the early stages of thinking about fecking off to Alicante or somewhere close to it, I love Costa Blanca. I've recently retired at a young enough age to enjoy it (way below 60!) .
I'm in two minds, might be better to have a berth in both ports. HH.

3.) 04 Aug 2022 23:16:14
Hi Besty,
I lived and worked in the Far East for years, and when it came time to retire and leave we seriously thought of settling in Cyprus. However we decided family was stronger than Sun and we came home to the Borders. Don’t regret it and before all the C.V. nonsense (still think it was the biggest and most disproportionate reaction ever) we would go to Spain for a good few weeks every year. When things get more normal travel wise we will start going again because that gave us the best of both worlds. So, yes, a berth in both ports is the way I would do it.
Good luck to you, enjoy your retirement.
?.

{Ed007's Note - Good luck with thecretirement, Besty.}

Maccabi Tel Aviv v Red Star tonight, with Celtic reportedly interested in Fani, might be worth a watch, hopefully he'll get off the bench and we can see him.

The Poet

1.) 17 Aug 2022 20:13:08
We all want to watch some Fani tonight reportedly.

2.) 17 Aug 2022 21:18:19
Ged you should have tuned into bt sports last night there was well over 50000 of them eye watering stuff ?.

Celtic, magnificent play, magnificent goals, just magnificent, as David Dickinson the ref today would say,
We are the Real Deal.

The Poet

1.) 14 Aug 2022 14:32:25
We will be lucky if we see that ref again this year IMO we'll done horse said someone was due a doing over HH.

2.) 14 Aug 2022 14:55:54
Didn't think he was too bad, bizarre foul to kilie when laughable was alleged to have been fouled and it was the other way and then. kicks the ball at turnbull,

3.) 14 Aug 2022 16:21:22
Thought he had a good if u deliberately break up play I will book you done it to both sides hence we will be lucky to see him HH.

4.) 14 Aug 2022 17:21:06
The referee had a good match today, in his 1st high profile game.
I knew he would book McKenzie, after his silly comment a couple of days ago.

12 Aug 2022 22:05:01
Hatate fit, but not being risked against Kilmarnock, I watched the Watford game, Bayo came on for them for last half hour and played well.

The Poet

1.) 13 Aug 2022 16:24:48
Played well he had about 2 touches.

10 Aug 2022 23:22:13
Sunderland knocked out of the cup tonight, they looked as if they need a James McCarthy rtype midfielder.

The Poet

{Ed007's Note - McCarthy's agent held talks with Sunderland earlier this week but I've heard from the English side of the rumour mill that they are looking for a loan deal.}

Great result, Jota assists again and brilliant goal by Abada, Jota on the left wing every time
Ange.

The Poet

1.) 06 Aug 2022 17:23:37
Bit of a late show as far as goals were concerned but a wins a win. HH.

2.) 06 Aug 2022 18:04:26
Dingwalls always a hard place to go wee kept persevering and got the job done the game changed when Abada and gio came on . Up the celts two more signings please ange .

3.) 06 Aug 2022 18:05:59
Poet

Jota scored last week when shifted to left wing and had three assists in second half today when moved to left.

Secondly, I’ve been saying since last season Ange needs to find a way of playing two up front.

He does it today when he’s chasing a goal and we score twice so what’s up the rest of the time?

Ice Man?

4.) 06 Aug 2022 18:28:53
I’m struggling to see what maeda brings to the team instead of Abada . By starting him there it puts jota out of position as well. But it’s been a good start to the season so far. 3 points next week on the plastic and it will be some tough games out of the way.

5.) 06 Aug 2022 19:50:47
Poet

I do agree with you. I said in a post during the week Jota is much more effective on the left and I’d have Abada on the right over Maeda. Abada contributed to 28 goals last season. 15 goal and 13 assists. Those numbers for a young player in his first season at the club are absolutely outstanding.

JFP I have to disagree mate. I don’t see a two up top happening much this season unless we are chasing goals. The two last goals we score today were a set piece, where Kyogo was taken off immediately after and Ange reverted back to a 4-3-3 by the time Abada scored his goal. So I’m not sure having bothered Kyogo and GG on the pitch were a massive factor. Ange won the league last season playing fantastic football in a 4-3-3 system. As we’ve discussed before this is the system Ange favours and has had massive success with.

We have two fantastic strikers who will both score a barrow load of goals this season but for it’s one of the other. I don’t want to see Kyogo out wide or as a 10. He’s a striker as is GG and they offer two very different styles. A great problem for Ange to have ???.

I thought Sunderland would come in for McCarthy, they’ll maybe take Johnson instead.

He was arrested in city centre, alleged drink driving, released and to appear in court later date.

The Poet

{Ed007's Note - Unless he's been charged he won't be appearing in court, you don't end up in court over an allegation, you need to be charged.
As I said, the media reports are all very vague and full of contradictions.}

If he plays 3 more league games for Newcastle he gets a new contract, we better be quick.

The Poet

{Ed007's Note - I said it last night but I am honestly convinced that someone has got Mooy and Shelvey mixed up. Shelvey's in the media talking about his Newcastle contract etc and there's Celtic fans think we're signing a guy on a reported £70k a week, with a year left on his contract who needs to play 3 games next season to get another year on £70k a week.}

Yes, nearly every transfer window let's get Wanyama back, he must be about 60
now, he is the type of player we’ve needed for years, Rangers have a midfield full of that type, they would all walk into our team, Hatate, who is knackered before the game starts, O’Riley hasn’t kicked a ball in months, thank goodness for McGregor, there must be a no nonsense, kick your opponents arse player out there, they have at least 4 of them and stats in Europe show they are doing just fine with them, still we’re top,6 points and all that, there is some amount of work to be done in summer, a full team leaving and at least 6 new needed signed.

Some having a go at the team today and I don’t mean on here,6 ahead, goal difference amazing, they would have to play Dunfermline twice to bring that back, all teams get nervous on verge of winning leagues, from where we were last season to where now, take it every day of every week, let’s win it at Tannadice again, Starfelt was outstanding today, Champions again.
