Kyogo on the way back?

Agree3 Disagree0

08 Jan 2026 12:22:49
If kyogo returns that will be the final straw for me. 1 goal scored in a year. I would rather play kenny.

{Ed007's Note - Kyogo forced his way out the Club not even 12 whole months ago while we were chasing a Treble and still had CL games to play, him and his wife were desperate to leave Glasgow and now he'll happily come back because he's been a complete flop and his agent is leaking stuff to the press - if Michael Nicholson has ANY backbone at all he will tell Kyogo & his agent where to go.

08 Jan 2026 12:13:43
Loved the wee guy under Ange, but this just shows how unbelievably poor our recruit system is. He's done nothing of note since leaving and downed tools to get a move.

Hearts and Sevco look like they're making long term signings while we're fannying about in the bargain basement.

08 Jan 2026 12:44:34
Just got txt same thing.

08 Jan 2026 12:53:23
Absolutely pathetic from the scouting department, again! Rinse and repeat amateur behaviour. He's been honking since he left and is still carrying that shoulder injury and at risk of being sidelined by it again.

Signing an out of form striker isn't the solution for our lack of goals. Was hoping for someone more tall and physical and aerially dominant as we come up against a low block every week.

08 Jan 2026 12:53:29
Loved Kyogo but guy was desperate to leave and we've already got strikers that miss sitters
No thanks.

08 Jan 2026 12:57:47
He'll either bomb or go on a scoring spree but seems like lazy recruitment one thing for sure he's better than kenny or shin, but let's Hooe we get another in.

08 Jan 2026 13:23:19
If snd s know it could b a big if he starts putting away a fraction of the chances we're creating al welcome him back but sincerely hope he's not our main striker target as am getting a bit peesed of again after being on a high (Nancy saacking) if he's the only striker that comes in.

Actually thot might have 1 by now a just nvr learn?.

Kyogo has only scored One goal from one yard out in his last 31 games since leaving Celtic.
Although minutes on the pitch works out as only about 13 games.

I reckon Kyogo will score at least 10 league goals until the end of the season and that's what Celtic desperately need to win this title.
For that reason,
I wouldn't be against Kyogo coming back for the last 18 league games.
I thought Giakoumakis would be more of a MON striker though.

08 Jan 2026 13:36:59
Kenny is hopeless Heard great things about the lad but the more he tries the worse he gets. Like Mikey Johnstone did yet he does well at West Brom. that's a few Ed that could line up you don't want Calum, Kyogo, Nicholson a backbone? ??Puppets are spineless mate.

{Ed007's Note - The team needs to move on and progress, there's no place for sentimentality or just ignore the way players previously treated the Club and the supporters. Brendan Rodgers made it quite clear when Kyogo left that he wasn't happy the way the way the player and his agent conducted themselves but fans want us to do him a favour now? ??

08 Jan 2026 13:39:51
I would say surely this isn't true But given the Boards track record I would say this will happen not that I think should ever happen.
Surely we have other (better) options? As has been said he was desperate to leave.

{Ed007's Note - I don't think it's true, all the links in the media over the last couple of months have came from Kyogo's slimeball agent.}

08 Jan 2026 13:41:19
Needed 20 chances to score one. Completely average for Celtic.
One great season.

08 Jan 2026 13:41:27
Make it happen! Its a no-brainer to me.

Kyogo was (mostly) dynamite up here and could make things happen out of nothing; our current crop of strikers tend to make nothing out of something, but contrast.

08 Jan 2026 13:42:54
Spoiler alert 007 Michael Nicholson hasn't ?.

{Ed007's Note - Now I'm pining for Peter Lawwell to be back ?? Kyogo wouldn't get a free match ticket off of him after his behaviour last winter.}

08 Jan 2026 15:34:42
Morelos anyone? ???.

08 Jan 2026 16:29:53
FFS no no no (Kyogo)

08 Jan 2026 17:05:53
I'm rarely a fan of players coming back and Kyogo was not a happy camper just prior to leaving us.

I loved the wee man's attitude and admired his skill and the goals he scored for us when he was at CP, but that was then and this is now.

We need someone fit, in form and capable of hitting a goal a game from now until the end of May.

Having said all that, he's still better than what we currently have which is the problem in a nutshell.

08 Jan 2026 17:13:53
This is absolutely rotten. Who is actually employed by our club to identify a Kyogo replacemwnt and comes up with. Kyogo.

08 Jan 2026 17:54:45
The few times I've watched Birmingham on tele Kyogo has looked like someone they just dragged in off the street to make up the numbers. Ed nailed it on the head he'll just be a sentimental signing.

Don't get me wrong if he comes in and scores a load I'll be happy but he looks so dejected and down on confidence we really can't be harbouring anymore passengers we have enough playing as it is.

08 Jan 2026 18:04:21
I was a fan of Kyogo. I'm pleased that he's a short term option for us up front if he comes because under Oneill he will be getting more direct service like he did under Ange. Rodger's patient pass to death strategy doesn't help a striker who plays on the shoulder and wants to get in behind. It's my view that Kyogos agent screwed him and Celtic at the same time time by convincing Kyogo that his Japan position might be more realistic if he played in a better league. That didn't workout because the manager got sacked and the new guy didn't want him - I think. He was moved on to whoever wanted him as he needed minutes anywhere to stand a chance.

Japan national team is the highest honour for a player from there so it's very culturally important for him. He loved it here then out of no where ( under rodgers ) he's declared unhappy and wants to leave. If he does the business under Oneill I would try and sign him and get rid of Kenny or loan him because he has been painful to watch. It's a stop gap solution and I think it's a good one. Better the devil you know. Oneill will get him firing with his ways I'm certain of it. Now let's get big Giacomak back as well! Get the whole band back together. Then onto…. Matt O'reilly . Ok I'll get my coat.

08 Jan 2026 21:15:13
Kyogo ain't coming back. I believe we are in for Dykes though.

08 Jan 2026 23:56:21
What striker should we go and sign? Don't say that big useless tool upfront for Hibs. Kyogo would've been a smart signing on a 6 month loan. It fills the gap we need and we would have him and Iheanacho.

Hopefully the latter can be given time to build up his fitness. There are no strikers available for Celtic right now. None of any quality. Kyogo until the summer would be a smart move for me.

It won't happen though. It's just the usual media bs.

09 Jan 2026 00:31:59
Kyogo has no interest in coming back. He was a wee one when he was engineering a move away from Glasgow. His career has stalled since then. I don't want him back. We need to be more forward thinking as a club. HH.

09 Jan 2026 12:29:14
Completely agree Ed Kyogo return is an absolute no go for me, he's been rotten since he left us, jeez he was rotten the season he left us, too many fans have short memories happily welcome back a guy that left us mid season as you said chasing a treble and CL games to play.

Now it's not working out the way he hoped so wants to come back to us, no thank you son goodbye and good luck with the rest of your career. Its time as a club to stop stepping backwards move forward when it comes to signings, we need fresh ideas on the pitch. HH.

{Ed007's Note - Spot on ??
