I for one, am truly sorry that Peter Lawwell has been hounded by abuse and left the Club. I would thank him for all the unseen and unrecognised work he has done for Celtic. Highly paid? Yes he was. Top Execs nowadays are well rewarded everywhere in life. If our club was run by fan forums we'd be in Admin by 6 months without a tosser.
Having read all the Anti Lawwell posts for years I'm well aware I'm in a minority. Probably a tiny minority. I feel his departure in this manner reflects badly on our support and I am ashamed that his tenure has ended this way.

Behave.

He has tarnished his his name by villafying, bullying and harassing our fans. For that reason he won't be fondly remembered by lots of the Celtic fans.

Im not ashamed and until someone tells me he was alone in the managers / teams corner fighting the rest of the board against downsizing and penny pinching to the detriment of the football team ill continue not to be ashamed. yes His corporate work and everything he done off the field was commendable.
but that all counts for nothing if he was the architect or accomplice in hampering the manager and team with downsizing and penny pinching . hopefully tisdale and a few others to follow. and ill still not be ashamed.

Echo you 100% 4 leaf, Lawwell has done a tremendous job at club, not saying perfect but overall he has been a success no doubt.

No one should be abused or threatened in this way but he only has himself to blame for pouring accelerant on the fire with his jibes towards the fans.
Good ridance. I wonder if he was pushed like rodgers and is using the abuse from fans as an excuse.

How do you know he and his family were abused, everyone and their granny has a I phone these days and I've yet to see any evidence, couple of weeks ago the were calling posters put up near their house 'abuse' affecting their family.
Clown couldn't even resign professionally and his ego couldn't resist one last pop at the fans who he despises despite making him rich.

Well said 4LC, whatever anyone thought of him he has clearly tried to do his best for CFC.
{Ed007's Note - I've backed Lawwell - and taken pelters for doing so - over certain things like the finances, sponsorships income etc, negotiating transfer fees when selling players but if the past 20 odd years has been his best then his best simply wasn't good enough or up to the standards of a club like Celtic.
Doing your best isn't enough at that level of business.}

If things are that bad resign right now, but no waiting on another pay cheque. Absolute ? and to blame the fans is just another dig. Good riddance but not soon enough.

Love it JFP. ?
@ptfp - his resignation is an attempt to shift the heat from them and on to the fans. This was clear in his resignation statement and the other from the club.

I admit he has done a lot of good at Celtic but he has also done lots wrong. He was finished in my eyes when he attacked, bullied and harassed our fans and that ruined any chance of him being fondly remembered.

Dear dear, he deserves a statue for appointing Lenny in the Hampden showers. Let's give him some kudos ?.

Was he not retiring anyway as well.
17 Dec 2025 21:05:51
He will still. be at Celtic so he is not going.
If he was that fearful I would have thought he would have stood down from his UEFA role as well as it keeps him in the limelight.

They all put £££ and bonuses ahead of team success.
