As expected Celtic are linked to umpteen potential incomers. I don't watch much beyond the Bhoys and have little idea who'd be good for us.
Any particular links we should get excited about?

Nygren looks the part so does the Belgian winger.

Earlier posts on this site this morning implied that G Taylor had decided to sign for us and this was greeted with 'Great news' comments.
I do not see any confirmation of this anywhere?

Anyone convinced that Kyogo will end up playing for the Bhoys once again?
I thought if things didn't work out for him he'd try his luck in the USA and get sunshine and a good financial deal.

4 leaf clover

1.) 31 Mar 2025 12:49:59
Unlike Jota who left on a high, I think Kyogo was on a steady decline compared to the standards he set in his first 2 seasons. Now we have Maeda playing out of his skin with Idah as back-up and I don't see any way back unless our squad changes drastically in the summer and even then it would probably be a non-starter.

{Ed007's Note - Kyogo's behaviour & attitude since he told Rodgers he wanted to leave has left a sour taste in the manager's mouth, there is no way he would take him back.
Why would anyone want to bring back a player that couldn't wait to get out & forced a move away at a crucial point in the season, a player that was declining in quality, a player who was carrying an injury that he refused to get operated on?
And I couldn't bear to go back to hearing all the "Best since Henrik" garbage!}

2.) 31 Mar 2025 15:11:11
Talking about Larson mate who would you say has been the best since he left. Mb Griff if the boy screwd the nut not sure to b honest.

{Ed007's Note - From the first few games watching Kyogo I said he was never an out & out striker and I always said he wasn't good enough to be Celtic's "main man" up front. Kyogo hasn't got that natural poacher's instinct which the amount of sitters he missed highlighted so for that I'd have Gary Hooper, Scott McDonald, Dembele and Edouard over him any day but I think for 2/3 season Leigh Griffiths - a player I never wanted us to sign - was in front of them all as an all round striker. LG could score from anywhere in & around the box, headers, free-kicks the lot, it's just a pity how things turned out at Celtic for him.
Just imagine how many goals someone like Hooper or LG in his prime would have scored under Ange's system and Rodgers' when it's clicking.}

3.) 31 Mar 2025 15:44:29
No chance imo. It was the right player and the right club at the exact right time when Ange came in. Rodgers will have something new in mind moving forward.

4.) 31 Mar 2025 23:11:04
No chance do I want him back, If a player is that desperate to leave then let him stew.
Also I mentioned in another post that in his time here he was only the top scorer at the club in 1 season which isn't good enough if you are the main striker.

5.) 01 Apr 2025 17:41:00
So hopefully everyone is stopping creaming their pants over the greatest fraud of all GG who couldn't wait to get out and join a backwater league at the "peak of his powers".

6.) 02 Apr 2025 16:05:34
Not for me. He wanted to leave and give himself a chance to force his way into Japan's world cup squad apparently. That's since failed miserably so he won't be welcomed back with open arms. He's the wrong side of 30 too. There are better options out there that will benefit the club in the long term.

7.) 03 Apr 2025 12:55:14
I wouldn’t want Kyogo back for a few reasons, first of all, his on field standards have dropped and we need better as our ist choice striker. Maeda is playing better as a striker than Kyogo has played this season or last . But many think we need Maeda on the wing for his incredible work rate . .
I can’t believe Board and manager were happy with the timing of his leaving us, mid season whilst still in Champions League .
To me, the most important aspect, is that we already have bought back 2 players after we sold them . I think that is rather unusual in the game I would hate us to do this more often as it’s a reputation that we don’t want to have . It would be bad if clubs stopped buying from us because they thought that they would lose money because players we sold kept talking about returning to us at a very great financial lost to club that bought him from us originally.

8.) 03 Apr 2025 21:29:50
Kyogo is by some distance the best forward since Henrik, it's unfortunate we have a manager who doesn't, I mean didn't know how to set the team up to get the best out of him, the stench of double standards in this stream is overwhelming, Rodgers left in much worse circumstances than Kyogo, talking about sour tastes in mouths, how many mouths did Rodgers fill with bile when he left, but now it's a big love in for him, that's how politics works, they know the masses, us, have short memories.

9.) 03 Apr 2025 22:40:02
It was the board and the manager, that facilitated his leaving, they, I mean Rodgers looked at getting 10 million for him, as a way of balancing the books, after wasting 9 million on Idah.

10.) 03 Apr 2025 23:08:20
His contract wasn't up, why did the board let him leave?, why did the manager sanction it?, because he is not Rodgers type of player, he is a free spirit, he does not want to follow systems, he wants to play the match as the match develops, he is a natural, that is what is wrong with Scottish football, young players are not being allowed to play the way want, the way they feel, they are being over coached, and not being allowed to develop their natural abilities,

11.) 05 Apr 2025 01:26:25
I can’t believe what I am reading about the free spirit who left us in mid -season and still very much involved in Champions League .
It’s agreed by most people that when a player pushes hard to leave, wise managers and board usually agree to let him go, as they don’t want an unhappy player interfering with the firs team squad harmony and and togetherness
BR wouldn’t be as highly regarded as he is in UK football, if he had relied on our ist team’s tactics to be based solely on getting best possible service to a striker and not using the best skills of our other attacking players to create and score freely . Kyogo never played as a young player under BR and he given the freedom to play all over the pitch . The seasons that he scored heavily under Ange, ” his free spirit “ wings were severely cut as he played on the shoulder of the last defender . BR tried to improve his skill and participation in match by having him on the last defender’s shoulder, as well as coming short for ball and releasing another attacker who when he played ball in Kyogo would be in his key position.

Celtic should add another Treble to their trophy haul this season.

4 leaf clover

1.) 10 Feb 2025 12:21:42
This will be our 8th consecutive season in front of supporters, that Celtic have won at least 2 domestic trophies from the 3 available.

2.) 10 Feb 2025 15:17:13
Never take a treble for granted, our recent record in cup competitions is incredible, just look at that lot or Liverpool this weekend to see how easy it is to get knocked out a cup. If we win a treble, even from this position, it’s an amazing achievement.

3.) 10 Feb 2025 15:47:44
Lot of football to be played still.

01 Feb 2025 20:32:11
Our efforts to bring in a new striker are intriguing - who is it going to be?
Any decent leads?

4 leaf clover

1.) 01 Feb 2025 20:56:06
Mr NOBODY.

2.) 01 Feb 2025 21:45:59
I've been thinking in my head for a few weeks now 'I bet he goes for Iheanacho, I bet he goes for Iheanacho'. I've just seen a link to Iheanacho. We could go for Iheanacho.

3.) 02 Feb 2025 07:47:18
I still believe we will bring someone in at striker and LB but it might be 2 loans, possibly with options to buy in both.

4.) 02 Feb 2025 08:01:03
We either need a new striker to replace kyogo or move maeda to striker and get another winger.

However, I don't want us to overpay for one because of desperation and would prefer a loan if that was the case. Preferably with an option to buy.

5.) 02 Feb 2025 13:19:07
Shankland has started scoring again, just saying!
I see a Fletcher / Flood scenario playing out.
Hopefully after the game tonight we will hear of a few deals.

I wish good luck to Greg Taylor, he gave us 6 years of full commitment, and left for sunnier shores and a financial deal. The 6 years with Celtic may well have been his best years, time will tell.

4 leaf clover

1.) 01 Jul 2025 17:44:12
Sad to see him go as well, gave us some great memories and very under appreciated.

2.) 01 Jul 2025 18:03:41
Sad to see him go he’d have given us a different option to KT inverting to give us an extra man in middle of the park when required but he’s too good to sit on the bench. I’ll always fondly remember him giving 100% every time he pulled on the Celtic jersey. Shut yir hole fat boy was a classic.

How many pretenders to his throne did he see off? Bolingoli, Laxalt, Bernebei, Trusty. Have I missed anybody Buzz? We’d to bring back KT to replace him.

His first season under Postecoglu he was exceptional. One of my first names on the team sheet against them.

216 appearances. Five league titles, three Scottish Cups and three League Cups. Eleven trophies.

‘Celtic truly is one of a kind. Every time I pulled on the shirt, I gave it everything. What an honour it has been to wear the hoops, I have loved every minute and have never taken it for granted.

A heartfelt thank you to every manager who trusted me and to everyone behind the scenes, these are the people who make Celtic.

"I’ve had the privilege of sharing the dressing room with some incredible teammates. Not just great players, but great people. Many go through their entire careers without the chance to lift a trophy. To have won so much together with this group is truly special, a feeling no words can describe.

"Lastly, thank you to all the fans who supported me along the way. It never went unnoticed. I feel so fortunate to have been a Celtic player, and now I can watch on from afar as a Celtic fan. Thank you. ’

(Greg Taylor) .

He’ll always be welcome at Celtic Park.

All the best Greg.

3.) 01 Jul 2025 18:10:00
Good luck to him and his family. Away from Glasgow bubble. He gave us 6 good years.

I have watched videos of our new Japanese bhoy. He likes a tackle and he really can pass a ball.

I have read someone suggest he might get loaned back to his current team or another Japanese team next year.

I would like to see him in action. He is 6' tall, has good positional sense, great passing and decent pace.

He has the same football background as Reo had in Japan and he turned out OK.

I think his price tag will put some off but look at what we are getting with Nygren for around same amount.

We have now spent 3 million, we now need a couple more in, a winger, CB and striker, although I suspect if we get another winger, Daizen will play CF.

4.) 01 Jul 2025 18:22:30
@Maedainparadise

"away from the Glasgow bubble"
PAOK are run by volatile board members and Salonica the town itself is not exactly a retirement place, it's residents have their moments also
Hope he was told all this before signing.

5.) 01 Jul 2025 18:33:32
Sounds a bit like the Sevvies and Govan.

6.) 01 Jul 2025 19:12:08
JFP,
Liam Scales was probably brought to our club as a left back and Johnny Hayes could also play there.

Greg done brilliant to see off multiple left backs over the years.
He stepped up a few levels under Ange, when he played as an inverted full back which suited him due to Taylor being a midfielder as a youngster.

Taylor had great passion when he played for Celtic.
I remember when Scott Brown scored an injury time winner at home to Hamilton only one minute after they equalised and Greg Taylor went berserk with his celebrations.
There was never any doubt he gave 100% for us.

7.) 01 Jul 2025 19:15:21
There was a minority of Celtic fans (morons) who had no time for GT and wouldn’t have him on their team . They moaned about him too small and targeted by opponents in the air . The goods news is that after bombarding his corner with ball after ball, they found they had wasted their time and needed to try another way . Greg Taylor was a special Celtic he got hit hard and often but got up and was even more determined to play well.
Celtic fans will miss him as he played and gave his best game after game rarely missing one . Good luck Greg and I hope you enjoy your football wherever you play.

8.) 01 Jul 2025 20:00:37
Lovely comments on GT and well deserved.

Although I've consistently said he was never my favourite, as I always felt Celtic should have signed a better player at LB to replace KT when he left for Arsenal, I've got nothing but respect and admiration for the performances Greg put in, every time he pulled on that jersey, he left it all on the pitch.

I wish him and his young family all the very best for their move over to Greece. ?

9.) 01 Jul 2025 20:11:57
I hope we don’t regret Taylor leaving. I always thought he was great, maybe not exceptional at times, who always gave ?. I enjoyed watching him play. Good luck bhoy.

10.) 01 Jul 2025 21:05:46
Well said, JFP. It'll be weird seeing Greg Taylor in other colours.

11.) 01 Jul 2025 22:42:08
This is a perfect example of you don't know what you had until it's gone!

Delighted for James, bit disappointed in our lack lustre efforts to win the game. Presentation day, 60,000 fans giving their support, go out and show our cutting edge.
You get an injury just as easy when going through the paces.
And, you show the boss you are on form for the Cup Final.

We have won the league slowing up. Why can you not appreciate what we have achieved this year. Winning league with 17 points to spare deserves to be appreciated. A double already in the Trophy room and a big game next week to gave us our 4th treble in 7 years . Records upon records.

Warning our fans, 'Don't gather in large groups', looking to arrest and besmirch us.

They will be looking for any excuse to try and ban or criminalise us.

It's the pain GCC are feeling for the 4th year in a row.

They should have a ten year plan because that is where we are heading. HH.

15 May 2025 23:26:52
A number of posters have felt that Nawrocki should feature more. I wonder why he is so far down the pecking order? He must be disappointed in his limited game opportunities - should he leave or stay for more of the same next season?

4 leaf clover

1.) 16 May 2025 11:33:30
He is not better than CCV in my opinion and that is the spot he is competing for.

2.) 16 May 2025 12:21:21
I strongly suspect he won’t want to stay for more of the same next season . That doesn’t. Mean that he is certain to leave, as he could have already received assurances that he will be played more often next season and BR could give him an accurate picture of how much play time he is likely to get .

Another factor in him staying could be that either club or himself may not be happy with how much the offer to buy from another club would be, and player himself may not be happy with the wages etc offered to him. By new club.

11 May 2025 10:30:53
Well played Bhoys, energy and entertainment in abundance. Great practice for the cup final.

4 leaf clover

1.) 11 May 2025 12:29:06
Thought some of the football was fantastic considering the title is in the bag and it's been a long hard season. However, the energy and desire of the team to put on the style augurs well for the cup final.

2.) 11 May 2025 13:51:12
Celtic will only need to keep our discipline in the Cup Final to win another Treble.
Aberdeen will be hoping for something similar to the Semi Final to happen to give them a chance, when Hearts received an early Red Card.

The gulf between both teams is massive and I’ll be beating Celtic -2 goals in the final.

3.) 11 May 2025 18:19:30
Was actually quite surprised at the starting lineup with BR saying be few changes, c on 1 of our sites Leeds interested in Maede god a hope not he be a massive loss.

4.) 12 May 2025 19:25:47
So far this season and indeed recent seasons our discipline has been fantastic. In fact in both European and Domestic marches, this season and last from the top of my head, I can only remember our players getting red cards after very questionable decisions.
I think Manager and players deserve great credit for their excellent discipline and behaviour on pitch.

5.) 13 May 2025 17:14:54
Buzz bomb, I am confident that Celtic will keep their discipline in the Scottish Cup Final v Aberdeen. However I would have less confidence that the referee and VAR Officials will be able to overcome their temptation to dismiss a Celtic player unfairly or award a soft penalty against Celtic.

Ed, Kenny Dalglish went to Liverpool aged 26 1/ 2 yrs, in his prime.

4 leaf clover

{Ed007's Note - KT's prime was between 3-5 years ago, KT turns 28 in the summer, he's in the later stages of his career and will probably be retired or thinking about it in 3/4 years time because of the injury problems that have ravaged his body for years.
The only reason any Celtic fan wants KT to return is because he is KT and played for us before, he is nowhere near the level of player he was even when he left us, this is a rumour/signing driven solely by sentimentality - or birthday caird pish to put it another way.
If this was any other player at KT's age and with his injury record the support would be questioning the manager, the scouting department, Tisdale, Nicholson and even probably Peter Lawwell would get dragged into it.
It goes against the entire ethos of the Club & player trading model we use and it goes against the type of player Rodgers has said he wants.}

I don't know, the reasoning is, he is 27 in his prime, big talent with huge experience, loves Celtic, knows Celtic inside out, will not cost us a fee and this fact will offset his personal terms. Loads of pros but who knows?

I agree Jb71, seldom witnessed a more obvious downing of tools. Glad he has gone and glad the club made a good profit. Kuhn was exact opposite in attitude to Maeda. We don't need players who can't give an honest performance and commitment.
