Read on sly spurts that motilivo from Milan is about to become a free agent this summer, his wages would probably be high but surely it's worth paying for a player of his quality what's everyone's thoughts on him?

Dundeebhoy

1.) 20 May 2016 11:32:29
Hopefully if the board are going for a top manager then the wage cap might need to be smashed to get top quality players in . What do you think ed.

{Ed007's Note - I wouldn't hold my breath on it but stranger things have happened.}

2.) 20 May 2016 13:46:37
He's been suffering with injurys so the last thing we need to be doing is paying a fortune for another player in the treatment room!

3.) 20 May 2016 14:13:42
I'm hopefully not going to come across as one of the "if we spend money we will end up like the real Rangers" crew but where do we draw the new line?

Hooper wanted something like 32k to stay, we lost Ledley because we wouldn't offer him a pay rise above the wage cap. Those are certainly 2 recent players We should have considered breaking the wage cap for at that time. Both were sold under market value and giving the new contract and selling after a year would have been more cost effective.

If we didn't do it then I can't see it happening now.

Not sure if it's just me but I thought griffiths looked uninterested when he came on? Maybe he was annoyed he only got 5/ 10minutes, I hope it's not a glimpse of what's to come from him maybe? He's getting nervous his position has been taken for the time being. I for one was furious watching him jog about after watching the others players giving their all for 90mins and if I was Rodgers I would be having some very serious words with him. Also thought Brendan was silly not to put Roberts and Griffiths on earlier but I suppose a point is better than none which is what we might have got.

Dundeebhoy

1.) 29 Sep 2016 12:08:32
I think for BR it was catch 22 with Griffiths and roberts.
I thought forrest put a real shift in last night and br was justified starting him on that performance.
Griffiths is another matter I am interested to see if he has the character to wait for his chance back in the team because at the moment dembele is first name on the sheet.

2.) 29 Sep 2016 12:47:38
He done it through RD tenure, no reason to think he won't now.

3.) 29 Sep 2016 12:57:46
I agree about Griffiths and Roberts. Last season (along with KT) they were about the only players that were on top of their form and were the highlight of a mixed season for Celtic and it must be difficult for them looking on from the bench, but they have to be professional.

4.) 29 Sep 2016 12:59:51
He has already shown his character waiting to get into ronnies side . no fuss no moaning bided his time knuckled down got his rewards as for looking uninterested last night never seen it dundee bhoy he had 7 mins to get into and up to speed and filled in midfield behind dembele done all he could. chased forward tracked back held his giving g position.

5.) 29 Sep 2016 13:35:50
It's completely different from RD time in charge in every aspect.

After he forced his way into team he owned his spot and rightly so.
And tbh i think he had to earn his spot that way as he definitely had some "behavioural issues".

Now after everything he's done he gets injured for a couple weeks and this 20 yo smashes 3 past the zombies and tore man city a new one.

He's back to square one and by the looks of it he needs to raise his game because when you look at it at 20 years dembele is going to get better.

Great selection problem to have 😆.

6.) 29 Sep 2016 17:46:58
I thought young Tierney was immense last night its great when you see one of your own in the team and you just know he just loves wearing they Hoops, i also thought Dembele and Sinclair were outstanding too.

7.) 29 Sep 2016 18:08:44
Drb I don't buy the ''only had 7mins line'' he is a professional, would you have gave Gordon the same Leigh way (pun intended) if he failed to perform for the first 7minutes? Griffiths' performance wasn't that bad as yes he only played 7minutes my issue was the lack of fight. He couldn't have been tired he'd only played 7mins lol. There was one instance in particular when a long ball went up the park and dembele won the header yet griff was jogging forward? I wanted to see him running as fast as he could and who knows perhaps he may have got the ball? That is where my frustration came from but I suppose that shows how far we have come this season when we are disappointed with a 3-3 with City.

8.) 29 Sep 2016 18:28:13
The commentator hit the nail on the head when he said that was a difficult match to come on as a sub because of the pace at which it was being played at. Based on that you can't really compare an outfield player with a GK coming on as sub.

Now add to that the fact that when Griffiths came on most of our players had ran themselves into the ground and were not supporting the forwards as much.

9.) 29 Sep 2016 19:21:14
I think tierneys best quality is week in week out you get 100% from the bhoy.
The opposition doesn't matter it could be man city or dundee the kid is a great example for players coming through or players coming in he plays for the hoops.

HH.

10.) 29 Sep 2016 19:43:39
I know what you mean and it can be summed up with the phrase "he is one of us". What I mean by that is if any of us had the same ability as Tierney and had the opportunity to pull on the hoops, we would give it everything we had because it is the team we all love.

11.) 29 Sep 2016 20:23:13
" Now add to that the fact that when Griffiths came on most of our players had ran themselves into the ground and were not supporting the forwards as much. "

Even more reason for him to be the one busting a gut trying to get up and help dembele, maybe Gordon wasn't the best example but there is plenty more who would have got stick for what griffiths did or didn't do. If cifti had come on and jogged about most of you would be calling for him to never play for the club again, same with Biton, Forrest, etc etc. just because it is griffiths does not mean he should be let off. What if it had been the other way round griff started banged in a couple goals and dembele came on and never bust a gut to give him some support? . Take off the tinted specs folks he wasn't interested! .

12.) 29 Sep 2016 21:11:40
You know bhoys it's refreshing to hear us all say the whole team man for man literally ran themselves into the ground! You don't see that enough in football in general now but when it's your own team makes me proud.

I honestly can't mind the last time I thought that about a celtic performance. Individualy some players stood out more than others but man for man they have all played the celtic way.

HH.

13.) 29 Sep 2016 21:41:57
Why as fans do we have to pick holes in every single one of our players?

So far this season we have had Dembele written off by some before he had played a league game. Lustig who was one of our most consistent performers last season constantly being described as finished. Brown and MCGregor slaughtered as not good enough.

I didn't see the game but Griffiths is one of the only reasons we won the league season. To be on here talking nonsense about him is out of order. He is just back from injury and has probably been rushed back onto the bench. Would you rather have Nadir Ciftci coming on?

14.) 29 Sep 2016 22:14:42
I think what's rattled a few cages is that he didn't seem as committed as the players on the park.
Personally I think it's a little harsh on Griffiths but I wouldn't disagree tbh.

You should probably watch the game mate!

15.) 29 Sep 2016 22:54:23
Tick67

Isnt this the same Griffiths who played through the pain barrier earlier in the season? That is why he only lasted 60 minutes of the 3 games before he was injured.

To question him is a complete joke regardless of whether I watched the game or not. Unfortunately I can't make games, can't afford BT and couldn't find a stream.

16.) 29 Sep 2016 23:18:49
I cannot believe (or understand ) why any of us at this time would even consider criticising LG. He has ran and jumped and hassled and harried and scored and scored and scored again. A new level of maturity. Outstanding in the air and a complete turnaround player who took the long road back to relevance and consistency and hero worship

He ain't messi. We know that.

He is LG and he's ours and we should be very glad for that simple fact!

17.) 30 Sep 2016 03:24:06
honestly Is there something in the water? Too much fluoride in the toothpaste? Everyone has disagreed with what I have said (bar tick) but can anyone honestly say griff gsve any effort what so ever in the time he was on the park? Let's get some thing straight here I ever once said he should be dropped or that he wasn't the one with tierney who dragged our team to success? My criticism was of his performance on Wednesday, I provided my opinion of why that me be and all you guys respond with is how dare I criticise griff? Get a grip folks everyone is open to criticism at work and rightly so.

18.) 30 Sep 2016 06:35:50
I hear ya niall and I said myself it seems a little harsh but when you watch every other player physically exhausted at 80 mins and he strolls in I think that's annoyed a few folk.

I'm not criticizing you for not watching game mate as I didn't make it either and only managed to watch it on bt because I have a chipped freesat box. I only mean if you watched the players run themselves into the ground like that you might have had the same opinion.

I'm not actually criticising Griffiths imo it was a non event bringing him on that late after the dramatic first 83 mins especially since he's just back from injury.

19.) 30 Sep 2016 11:00:51
Griff wasn't on long n made I really important challenge down in the left back area when city were trying to press us at the end, never once did I even think they'd score as I felt we were secure.
But the wee man didn't have long n did his part, for me nobody gets criticism for Wednesday's performance as to a man we were brilliant n we win lose or draw as a team.
Hail hail.

20.) 30 Sep 2016 12:08:57
So in 7minutes of football a fresh Griffiths makes one tackle and he's done his part? As I said before one rule for one (griff) and another for everyone else? I don't know how many times I need to say it my criticism of Griffiths only applied to that one game nothing more.

21.) 30 Sep 2016 12:14:00
If you have not watched the game how can you possibly comment on individual performances?

22.) 30 Sep 2016 19:12:45
Tompo

Not sure if your comment was aimed at me?

I watched Griff dig us out the sh1t time and time again last season in the poorest Celtic team I have seen in a long time. That is good enough for me.

To criticise him in a game he was given 7 minutes is a joke. Did anyone consider he was maybe told not to chase lost causes? How many times did Johansen used to chase lost causes and then get caught out of position?

If anyone wants to send me the footage of the last 7 minutes I will gladly watch it.

03 Sep 2016 14:02:02
See kolo is playing for arsenal legends today, bit surprised about that tbh. What if he picks up an injury? Do you think Celtic had a say in wether he played or not? I would like to think so.

Dundeebhoy

1.) 03 Sep 2016 14:33:49
Got to say I was really surprised when I seen him! Yeh it's a glorified training game but still! Got to think BR gave his permission for him to play.

2.) 03 Sep 2016 14:58:07
It's a charity event and so far it's being played at walking pace. However, I would hope he goes off at HT, having done his bit.
It's a wee reminder all the same, that he is close to the end of his career and hopefully his experience will help Simunovic get his Celtic career off the ground.

3.) 03 Sep 2016 22:15:33
Maybe Kolo will pick up some tips from the Milan Legends . Of course B R would have given him permission and why wouldn't he . He would walk more playing 18 holes of pitch and putt.

01 Sep 2016 17:47:39
Does anyone know of any "marquee" type players entering the final year of their contract. Perhaps there's a player we could get that would normally be out of reach.

Dundeebhoy

1.) 01 Sep 2016 18:35:50
Can we bin the word 'marquee' now. Not having a go Dundee just fed-up with that word. Its a magic word cause no one initially mentioned it but a high percentage of posters used it. lol.

2.) 01 Sep 2016 19:25:12
Dundeebhoy I had a wee look on Comparethemarquee. com mate

Flock all there pal -P (Y)

4.) 01 Sep 2016 20:10:43
Theres a couple good "marquees" available in Argos.

5.) 01 Sep 2016 20:17:42
Funny as feck Jamie.

6.) 01 Sep 2016 21:22:13
Wouldn't Commons be a marque player, if you like that type of player, Commons is entering his last year of contract . However I don't see the relevance of a player entering his last yr of contract as he cannot be bought before January 1st.

7.) 01 Sep 2016 21:24:48
Thanks Chris and 1 11 67 👍🍀.

31 Aug 2016 19:03:10
I think the problem with this marque singing is that Rodgers' market is England and it's super inflated pricing, The type of player we are expecting or wanting costs around £10m in that market and we are never paying that sort of money.

Dundeebhoy

1.) 31 Aug 2016 19:38:23
Going on the net spend we could probably. Difference between that and should though. We could spunk it all on someone who doesn't perform or settle or we could wait until January and monitor decent targets with lower outlay.

I think when you have 2 quality strikers and only play one up front 2 consecutive games without a goal and the other boy gets his shot? What's everyone's thought on when and in what games should griff get his chance.

Perhaps Football fans should have the power to arrest other fans and just let everyone sit watching the game under fans arrest after a riot of arresting each other or the normal fans can lock up the idiots (including police, refs and dodgy linesman) then Fifa will have nothing to complain about😝.

Of course we are a stepping stone for players if they want to make it to the top eboue like wanyama not only wants to play in the champions league but maybe have a chance of winning it some day I for one have no issue with that providing they earn their moves by being successful with the hoops first.

Our kids are taught that the Romans stole the world through killing as did the British, they are told 6 million Jews were killed, the plague killed millions, nuclear bombs, the establishment is not to be questioned and to always follow the system or else, this is 5 days a week.

What they are not told is the other side to all of those stories, And believe me there are a lot worse stories than I mentioned. My point is children are bombarded with guns violence greed selfishness etc., so why shouldn't they be allowed or even have to listen to songs being sung especially ones that let's you know how a people felt.

I agree it shouldn't really be mixed with football but what other chance to these people have to be heard. of course this only applies if they actually know what they are singing about singing for the sake of being offensive to someone is just stupid.

lets be honest he shouldn't be playing for either England or Scotland he should be playing for his country of origin both his parents are from Ghana i think?

Dundeebhoy

{Ed007's Note - The lad was born in England though so surely that should be who he represents regardless of where his parents are from? What you're suggesting is a player born in England shouldn't be allowed to play for England because his parents are English, what happens if a player's parents are from two different countries?}
