Hi Ed

Any updates on Rogic, Thanks.

Stan19

{Ed007's Note - Rodgers said the other day that Rogic is back training but is 3/4 weeks away from being ready.}

1.) 14 Mar 2017 20:35:33
Thanks Ed, Was hoping to see him a bit sooner but possibly rushing him back not the best of ideas.

{Ed007's Note - Hopefully he's back to get a game or two under his belt before the semi-final.}

24 Aug 2016 09:16:47
Ed, One name that hasn't been mentioned this transfer window is Martin Odegaard at Real Madrid. Is there still an interest in him or did that end when Ronny left.

Stan19

{Ed007's Note - He'll either be loaned to another Spanish team or stay at Madrid.}

1.) 24 Aug 2016 09:47:45
Cheers Ed, One more question if you have time. If we draw Man City in Groups stage can we play Roberts against them, Assuming we don't buy him this week and its still the 18month loan deal.

{Ed007's Note - Going back to when Atletico Madrid had Chelsea's Thibaut Courtois on loan, UEFA said that:

'Both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations contain clear provisions which strictly forbid any club to exert, or attempt to exert, any influence whatsoever over the players that another club may (or may not) field in a match. It follows that any provision in a private contract between clubs which might function in such a way as to influence who a club fields in a match is null, void and unenforceable so far as UEFA is concerned.
Furthermore, any attempt to enforce such a provision would be a clear violation of both the UEFA Champions League and the UEFA Disciplinary Regulations and would therefore be sanctioned accordingly.'

Basically even if there is such a clause in the loan deal it is not enforceable under UEFA statutes.}

2.) 24 Aug 2016 10:32:12
Might not be able to inforce it but think it could wreck our good relationship with city though.

3.) 24 Aug 2016 10:44:12
Thanks for taking the time to reply with that Ed. Paddy Power!

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

4.) 24 Aug 2016 11:12:58
Mo Bangura.

5.) 24 Aug 2016 15:55:10
Roberts stated at the start of the season that if the situation arose then he would play against them.
Also remember Courtois being allowed to play for Atletico Madrid v Chelsea when he was on loan a few years back.

6.) 26 Aug 2016 07:33:32
Seen somewhere than man city won't stand in his way if he wants to play against them.

Hi Ed,

Any truth in the Snodgrass rumours. I would love to see him at Celtic Park. For me he is Scotland best player when fit, He knows everything about the Club and would give his all in the Hoops. I read an article recently where he said every training session he stays behind to work on different aspects of his game. That's the type of player I want to see in our team. Not sure what he would cost I think he has one year left on his contract but maybe last seasons injury might take the asking price down. If the rumours are true I hope we get him in asap rather than get him on a pre contract in January.

Stan19

{Ed007's Note - As far as I know there's no truth in the rumours, Stan.}

1.) 23 May 2016 12:00:58
Dammit, ok thanks Ed.

{Ed007's Note - (yes)

2.) 23 May 2016 12:56:17
He'd be a very good signing for me too Stan!

3.) 23 May 2016 15:19:17
If it was true I would imagine him been on a decent wage.

4.) 24 May 2016 12:59:56
Apparently he has bought a house in Newton Mearns - but not because he is moving club- because his wife prefers to live in Scotland and can't settle down south?

5.) 24 May 2016 14:10:39
Snodgrass definitely bought the house in Newton Mearns its around the corner from me and he bought it off of Kenny Miller, pretty well documented.

Great Signing if it comes off and a likely one IMO.

Dermot Desmond on Sly Spurts "We have talked to a lot of Managers, Hoping to appoint within 4 or 5 days if we complete negotiations. We are looking forward to building up to be a Champions League Club.

Have to say I am impressed with these words it's what I want to hear.

Stan19

1.) 18 May 2016 14:04:55
As the saying goes words are cheap.

2.) 18 May 2016 14:05:13
Also actions speak louder than words.

3.) 18 May 2016 14:13:12
Time will tell Marco.

4.) 18 May 2016 15:25:19
Just watched that DD interview - got to be BR surely?

Getting excited, I'd love it to be him - but we e all been here before.

Away for a wee lie down.

5.) 18 May 2016 18:14:33
Call me cynic but there's season tickets to be sold and we've ate apple of this cart before, I will believe him when I see the new manager on the steps outside Celtic Park .

17 May 2016 14:56:56

The elusive and prolific disliker strikes again 😂.

3.) 21 Mar 2017 18:57:24
He probably argues with himself in the mirror. Gets himself right worked up every morning before he has his bowl of coco pops.

4.) 21 Mar 2017 19:37:12
Looks ok . but aitchison looks the better prospect at the moment captain of u17 Scots scored two last week and his work rate and energy is impressive alongside his skills. (. the Scots game is live on you tube on wednesday ) .5 young celts played in first two games.

5.) 21 Mar 2017 21:06:44
Thanks appreciate that DRB. Excellent hopefully i will remember to watch that. I see Michael Johnstone has been called up to the 19s squad that's good news.

6.) 22 Mar 2017 10:05:08
i know who the phantom doughnut is. i reckon the same guy that posts on this page but has never posted on the other forum. gives them something to do between court cases lads.

7.) 22 Mar 2017 15:04:57
Reckon he must have a right arm like Popeye.

8.) 22 Mar 2017 19:29:48
Its obvious who it is. Look at timalloy's thread on referees getting banned and incidentally the anti dembele responses from 2 imposters. They obviously liking own status lol.

9.) 22 Mar 2017 22:48:08
@dn3 - getting a wee bit precious regarding disagrees? If I've got an opinion on something I'm never shy in posting. As for Timalloy's thread he's had 10 disagrees, that means some of you have agreed with 2 Huns! Who's the traitors?

10.) 23 Mar 2017 12:48:27
UJ I would say it is would be the same two disagreers trolling about the site trying to increase their numbers lol.

11.) 23 Mar 2017 20:07:00
@coloradobhoy - or 8 off you think he's talking Tom Kite and rather than post your opinion you hit disagree and blame it on the Huns?

12.) 23 Mar 2017 23:07:53
@union jack its probably you trying to deflect attention.

13.) 24 Mar 2017 09:05:33
I will leave it up to people such as yourself UJ posting on the champions site 😜 You are just too funny with your posts! Keep up the good work making everyone laugh.

14.) 24 Mar 2017 14:03:45
@coloradobhoy - thanks for the compliment, somebody has to be the voice of reason on here 😉.

Very poor performance not helped by some rare poor decision making by Rodgers. Ok forced into substitution with Bitton being injured but why not replace him with Kouassi (like for like) . If he ain't ready now when will he be ready. Roberts on for Forrest after 70 mins why not after an hour. Armstrong looked to be our main threat yet taken off for Griffiths when it should have been Griffiths on for Dembele (again like for like) , All in all poor decisions and poor performance too many players failed to turn up and i also thought Eric looked nervous on the ball and everytime he passed the ball it looked like being short. Plenty people have a go at Bitton but look at the change when he went off a lot of his work goes unnoticed. The only plus to come out of this is we had our worst game of the season and they still couldn't beat us. I can't take much more from it hopefully the return of Rogic soon and giving Kouassi more game time will get us back on form. Although we were woeful its difficult to be to critical after the season we have had it was just a bad day at the office it just so happens we saved it for these reptiles. Now on to that mason ref the decision over the Holt assault on Roberts was an utter disgrace. This man shouldn't ref another SPL game again never mind a Celtic Sevco game. I did not expect the honest mistake to be so blatant. Useless cheating **** is the least i will call him today.

Stan19

1.) 12 Mar 2017 18:13:05
I thought McGregor did excellently when he came on - Bitton was pedestrian and that's being charitable.
The ref was a total see you next Tuesday - so many appalling decisions and not giving what was a blatant penalty was just something that I could not believe at all. If he was wearing an orange sash, he could not have made his cheating any more obvious.

2.) 12 Mar 2017 18:26:20
I also thought McGregor did well but he's not a holding midfielder so it wasn't a like for like substitution. Totally disagree regarding Bitton.

3.) 12 Mar 2017 22:15:26
@stan19 - 100% agree. Madden was a disgrace. How Dembele was never booked for his dive or Brown for his constant fouls off the ball I'll never know?

03 Mar 2017 11:11:21
Everytime i see footage or a photo of the Lisbon Lions it makes me want our home kit to be exactly the same as the 67 one. Its beautiful when simple no flashy designs just the famous Hoops with plain white shorts and socks can't beat that look.

Stan19

1.) 03 Mar 2017 14:08:49
I've said that for years now Stan, only thing is the sponsors wouldn't be to chuffed about no logo on view.

2.) 03 Mar 2017 15:09:03
I'd have thought that a commemorative strip would have been released for the 50th anniversary.

3.) 03 Mar 2017 16:07:10
Id accept sponsorship logo no problem as long as the kit was as simplified as possible. Not interested in different shades of green throughout the hoops or stupid collars. A tight fighting round white colour suits it best in my opinion and looks good against the white shorts and socks. The classic look.

4.) 03 Mar 2017 16:20:02
Agree bhoys. The final was the 25th May, I know that much. That's thereabouts the last game of the season, so hopefully NB have something lined up. Like the Nike/ Tennents one a few year back would be nice, but one better. Would be great to have NB in white on a white hoop, and a really small Magners label below the club crest, similarly in white matching the hoop. I can't see NB or Magners taking their names off completely. No commemorative wreath around the crest or anything. Just so from a few yards away it just looks like a nice fitted, simple green and white hoops.

5.) 03 Mar 2017 16:56:25
Perfect JT.

6.) 03 Mar 2017 20:00:38
I've uploaded a concept kit that somebody posted online. Hopefully it will be up soon on the Celtic Sightings page.

7.) 03 Mar 2017 20:03:39
NB have a few pretty simple kit designs with plain logo matching kit colour, but mind there is also dafabet and a doubt the 2 sponsors would be too happy reducing the size or even removing their logo knowing the amount of kits a commemorative one would sell, heres hoping though.

8.) 03 Mar 2017 20:40:08
*Dafabet, that's what I meant, not Magners 😅.

9.) 03 Mar 2017 20:42:27
the cup final is round about that time so i can see us wearing a special strip that day.

10.) 03 Mar 2017 19:58:46
I'm going to get my replica out man, you're right.

02 Mar 2017 11:03:58
Rest In Peace Tommy Gemmell. Unfortunately before my time and although I never got the chance to see you play there is enough footage to show me how world class you were. like the rest of the Lions you will always be in our hearts of every Celtic fan.

Stan19

R. I. P BIG TAM! YNWA 🍀💚.

2.) 02 Mar 2017 12:31:56
i was absolutely gutted to hear about the death of the greatest left back of all time tommy gemmell, tommy typified everything celtic stood for, attacking flair, and swashbuckling entertainment the lions will live in our hearts forever, god rest you tommy.

Ed, Been thinking about the new development plans and overall future plans as part of the Celtic Triangle Project, Also talk about the South Stand being replaced is never far away from discussion with rumoured plans already in place. Do you think this is us finally flexing our muscles to totally dominate Scottish football on and off the park and laying down a marker for future income resources so we aren't soley reliable on selling our best assets, or with Peter Lawwell having more and more talks in Europe are we looking at the bigger picture and possible future change in European League structure. Finding this whole issue remarkable as we are starting to look like a massive club on and off the park again and for that i have to credit the Board who i had become demoralised with for showing no vision. We now look like a club with a plan and the future looks fantastic. Any other comments or views welcome.

Stan19

{Ed007's Note - Regarding the South Stand stadium expansion I'm of the opinion that if/when Celtic announce it there will be concrete plans in place for us to leave the Scottish league - I just don't see why we need to do it just now, Stan apart from improving the look of the stadium as there's no point adding seats if you aren't going to fill them or only going to fill them 6-10 times throughout a season.}

1.) 24 Feb 2017 16:25:23
Thanks for reply Ed, Fair point and agree a higher capacity is certainly not required for SPL games. You would think if there was plans to replace it but have the capacity as it is or extend slightly to around the 65,000 mark it would be to upgrade dressing rooms, restaurants, Hospitality, etc.

. and a bigger Trophy room.

{Ed007's Note - A lot of the stuff currently in the trophy room will probably end up in the museum. I do like your idea about refurbishing the old stand and it's facilities with maybe a minor rise in capacity. If we could refurbish the entire stand I don't see any reason why we couldn't apply to hold CL/EL finals.}

2.) 24 Feb 2017 18:58:11
Ed if we up the capacity is that the only requirement we need to meet to get finals at paradise? Is it to do with how many stars a stadium has? A think hampden is the only five star football stadium in Scotland, am sure it's to do wae Road access or something like that? Am a on the right tracks wae that.

{Ed007's Note - The changing rooms aren't big enough and we need an enclosed area where visiting teams buses stop. Platini said years ago that for security and logistical reasons that he wanted all CL finals to be played in stadia with a minimum capacity of 70,000 but the 2014 final was held in Benfica's Estádio da Luz which doesn't hold 65,000 spectators so it's not a rule as such it was more a recommendation although no CL final has been played in a stadium with a capacity of less than 60,000.
I remember years ago the guides who gave the tours told the story that the only reason we never received the old UEFA 5* rating (that doesn't exist any longer, it's called UEFA Elite Stadiums) was because of the changing rooms size problem but because of the chances of the SFA sanctioning a bid over Hampden were so slim it wasn't financially feasible to take the gamble.}

3.) 24 Feb 2017 19:52:56
So if Celtic were to get elite stadium status they would still need the sfa to approve our request for a final? I thought it would be down to Celtic and uefa to decide.

{Ed007's Note - The Club would need the SFA to put the application forward. It's the same everywhere, it's the FA's that apply with a nominated stadium to the UEFA Executive Committee who make the decision. Remember it's the SFA that are members of UEFA, not Celtic, for example European prize money etc is sent to the FA to be distributed to the clubs.
The SFA did apply for Hampden to be considered for the 2019 EL Final but that's going to Azerbaijan Baku’s 68,700-capacity Olympic Stadium or Atletico’s new stadium, the Wanda Metropolitano, which will hold 67,000 when it opens this summer.}

4.) 24 Feb 2017 23:49:18
I knew a previous chief exec of celtic who told me that there are plans drawn up and good to go for rebuilding the south stand. At that time he said it would only happen if we got into the English Premiership so don't imagine much has changed now.

5.) 25 Feb 2017 09:22:47
That's right Marty, worked there years ago (Barnes Time) and the talk then was the dressing rooms etc moving to the corner under the stand (south / west stands) and the drawings etc are all in place.

6.) 25 Feb 2017 09:01:22
Ed there is every chance the sfa would back us now especially since all the stuff about the sfact not going to use hampden anymore so it could be either us or Murray field for international matches.

{Ed007's Note - They can't nominate us now, the stadium doesn't meet the requirements.}

Would be pretty amusing if we sent out 2 or 3 fringe players to Aberdeen. the Sevconians would be raging. No one is a threat to us winning the league so why not send some players there for some well needed game time plus try prevent that cretins from finishing 2nd.

It's a difficult one that as the players who have put us in this position will want to see it out. I'd be happy with that but would love to see some of our youngsters get a good 25-30 mins end of each game. Once the league is won and the pressure isn't as intense it will be a good environment for them to play in.
