When the manager has to publicly call out the Board and say he hasn't been able to convince them yet (on need to reinforce and loosen purse strings) it's very telling. And won't help with player recruitment and retention. Whilst there is still time, the season starts in days and CL qualifiers are imminent.

Chinks big Ange said the very same thing in his first window as manager that he has to try convince the board to get the players he wants and that he thought he needed to be more forceful about what his team needed.

It’s crazy Chinks.
The fact the manager seems unsettled tells me this could trickle down into the players. This is absolutely the worst time for the board to allow rangers to gain any ground on us with their recent take over. We shouldn’t give them any inkling of possibilities.
Naive comes to mind. It’s hard being a Celtic fan sometimes, all be it we are extremely successful. The glaringly obvious issues with the squad along with the pertinent issue of a UCL qualifier creeping up on us makes me feel uneasy.
The boards amibition does not match that of the fan base or the manager it seems which is scary. We got lucky with the Ange appointment and even luckier with Rodgers coming back. Who in reality is out there that fancies the Celtic job that is at the same level as Rodgers? They should be doing all they can to keep that man in the building.

The fact our most successful manager in recent times has to publicly say he must convince the board to make signings is remarkable. Like you say, its very telling.

Well said Brendan for well and truly throwing the board under the bus. There are apologists among us but I’d proffer most echo your sentiments. Pray the vision less custodians are listening and we can retain your services.

They are cowards. Thars the problem. Gappy with their bonuses when we have plenty in the bank. Parasites the lot of them. They and they alone hobble us. Rangers greatest asset is our board.

? just because someone doesn't agree with you, doesn't mean they are a "board apologist". Some people are realists, and don't think it is as easy as playing FIFA or champ manager to sign players.

Dr Phil
Go a listen to the managers press conference and tell me why me and my fellow Celtic supporters shouldn’t be concerned. I’m not really too bothered if you agree with me or not Doc - and that’s me being polite (and I’ve ignored your daft wee condescending emoji) …I’m more concerned with the managers thoughts and the future of my club.

The problem is we have an amateurish board. Even when the club have recouped 17 million, they hate the idea of spending 5million. They act like they want to spend the money on new conservatories instead - which wouldn't surprise me.

Not good. Well done Brendan for Outing the Board. On a personal level, it must be so discouraging for him and good man manager though he is, I think that's bound to filter into the team. My question is if Celtic are ahead in the league by the time the AGM comes round, I get the vibes the Board get an easy ride. Are questions at the AGM filtered or are those attending just a group of Yes men? I'm not trying to be disparaging to those who attend. That's just the impression I have.

Well said JFP. the delusional world domestic of our fans inhabit. This is our club. It belongs to every man woman and wean who loves it. All we ask is those who lead us to be good at it. Not content with a certain evel of kudos. To see it as we do, the greatest club that has ever been or will ever be.
We have the resources to take us up. To restore our prestige as a European club to be reckoned with. We will never be able to win it, in today's crazy football world. Not as long as we are in a league that pays buttons and a Sky deal of a bag of washers. But, we can be a team that no one wants in the CL, because against all odds, in a league of nickels and dimes, we can take them on. Not always vest the obviously, but take them on. That's what our club has always been about. Fighting to exist. Fighting bigotry. And winning.
Let's win some more, let's use all of ourcresources, all of the passion of the support and say, Come ahead. We are Glasgow Celtic.
The board don't mirror us, the supporters. Or who we are. We are not timid. We are not play safe, we go for the throat until the final whistle. We need that in the boardroom. Get off your knees and start throwing punches. COYBIG.

Didn't the board learn anything when we lost going for 10iar, they didn't think that lot were a threat then either and it bit us right in the ass. don't let history repeat itself.

JFP I watched the managers presser and tbh I didn’t really see anything to be overly concerned about. Of course he’s had discussions, he’s got a direct line. Of course he’s not the type to encourage simple continuity, other than Lennon who is? (and that’s not a slant on Lennon) .
Brendan is an asset just like the players. If he leaves next year we get nothing. No doubt he’ll have concerns, new contract requirements, and he pretty much holds all the cards right now. The part I don’t understand is that if he leaves next year for free then based on our model the board massively messed up last season when we could have sold him. Very few assets walk away from Celtic for free unless they’re not good enough or nearing retirement.
