So far we've spent about 2m quid and by all accounts the japanese boy is below the 2m mark as well, are we on some kind of cost cutting the moneys there we're also going to offload a few, strange window so far.
01 Jul 2025 12:29:20
Window officially starts today mate, be happy with winger, cb and miller.
01 Jul 2025 12:32:03
We are very early in this transfer windowc, I believe today is the day window opens Internationally . I think up to now very few clubs including Celtic have really got down to bring the players with the better reputation into the squad . As Celtic have never been too quick to advertise what is actually happening with some of our quality players, we don’t know who our Board can expect to leave and who our Board are confident will be happy to change their mind and stay . Information from Rangers SMSM and some Celtic bloggers who take their news from SMSM may not be ideal in forming an opinion on who we will need .
Despite our Board’s poor record on getting players in, apart from last couple of windows, I am confident that Celtic will provide BR with an improved squad at the end of the window . Far, far too early to start worrying, this is the time of year we should enjoy the transfer window and watch our squad rebuild again.
01 Jul 2025 12:36:28
Mally even stranger is the rumour that the Japanese bhoy is to be LOANED out straight away
As you say less than £4m paid out and at least £15m if Kuhn goes
But Pedro is NOT INVOLVED.
01 Jul 2025 13:47:08
Our risk averse board. Will push the boat out later in the window. Folk actually believe that.
01 Jul 2025 13:54:16
The time to judge is when the window closes as I am sure there will be more ins and outs.
So far I am pleased with the signings. We have gotten at least 2 first team players for less than 2 million, 2 talented youngsters and a third choice keeper.
01 Jul 2025 14:06:59
Guys we all know how this works by now
We SELL a big name player then a player or two is brought in with cash raised it's happened at least the two previous summer windows, our Board will seldom dip into the bank account, anybody coming in is from SALES
We can only hope team is not left weaker by whoever is sold and that the new men coming in are of a sufficient quality.
01 Jul 2025 14:30:45
How dare our board not spend our transfer budget in the first day of the transfer window!
We need to rally the troops and have a mass demonstration down the Celtic Way tonight.
This isn't good enough and I'm sick that we haven't broken our transfer record twice already.
This board and manager are not fit for purpose, I don't care that we have won 28 trophies in 14 years.
01 Jul 2025 15:15:50
Trust the process has made Celtic the most successful club in Europe in the last decade or so.
01 Jul 2025 15:23:57
Tim if Pedro was even remotely involved Brendan wouldn't be here!
01 Jul 2025 15:58:02
Some people won't be happy until we are in financial trouble! What does it matter how much a player costs? As long as he's a good player. Surely the cheaper we get a good player the better?
01 Jul 2025 16:03:16
Jon there's nobody panicking just stating a fact that up till now we've pretty careful with the money, I'll judge at the end of August.
01 Jul 2025 16:34:17
Although I am certain Peter Lawwell did in fact step down from his CEO position at Celtic 3 years ago, there are some Celtic fans who still think Nicholson isn’t able to carry out as successfully the role of CEO and believe PL continues to do the CEO job out of the goodness of his heart .
I think we all need to accept it, no matter how fond we were of P L, his time as CEO at Celtic is gone .
The recruitment and actually acquiring the right new players is an extremely difficult job at Celtic . Nearly every season top player (s) leave Celtic for £20m or more and our recruitment team are given the task of finding just as good a replacement in a younger player at half or even a quarter of the money . It’s easy to complain when we aren’t accountable for getting new players in.
01 Jul 2025 17:42:58
Buzz, are we not the most successful club in Europe of ALL time not just last 10yr mate, a keep telling my Hun mates we are anyway??♂️.
01 Jul 2025 19:21:34
My h. n mates all died in 2012, basically I still have conversations with them but out of respect to the 1872 who h. ns hold in such high regard, I refuse all conversations about football from Ibrox .
There isn’t much point in our Board refusing to recognise what the SFA and SPL cobbled together, if our fans and the rivalry continued.
01 Jul 2025 20:04:44
As Sutton mentioned the other day there could well be certain players that Celtic are keen to get but we may have to wait until later in the transfer window before approaching their parent clubs.
If the board backs BR, then we should emerge a stronger team ? and better equipped for the new season.
Keep the faith bhoys.
☘️ ☘️ ☘️.
01 Jul 2025 20:51:16
Celtic by the end of the window, will be in net profit.
{Ed007's Note - Hopefully ?
02 Jul 2025 00:40:54
I am very happy at the way this transfer window seems to be shaping up .
One thing that could destroy it, in my opinion is if Celtic were to sign any player and lend him straight back . I really hate the thought of us doing that . It smacks of Capitalism, in my mind, signing someone with the clear knowledge that we don’t want or need that player at this time.
02 Jul 2025 07:29:54
Disagree Ed. I want to see the best Celtic on the pitch not sitting in the bank.
{Ed007's Note - So you don't want Celtic to make money?
02 Jul 2025 13:50:50
Not to sit in the bank. If reinvested in first team yes. Net profit every window isn't investing in the team properly.
{Ed007's Note - Net profit in every window - as long as we come out it stronger - is a fantastic way to run a football club and every club in the world would love to do the same while still winning trophies.
People moan about the fees when we spend big, they'll moan about the fees not being enough or we haven't signed enough players or spent enough money.
We shouldn't be going out spending money on players, paying over the odds for them, adding to the squad size - which the manager thinks is still bloated - and adding to the wage bill just because we can?
By your reckoning we should have offered £5m for Nygren simply because we can afford it. Should the board have told Rodgers he was too cheap?}
02 Jul 2025 17:02:40
We never came out of January stronger. Sold our main striker and played or most effective LW as a striker. Then ran the boy into the ground. Swapping him about in 2 positions.
All opinions never grow up dreaming about the bank balance. Each to their own.
02 Jul 2025 17:05:01
The Nygren comment to me is absolutely ridiculous. Actually that's your debate. I want us to buy more first team ready players and your are saying I want to pay more for a player we have. ????? laughable comment.
{Ed007's Note - You're literally moaning about us making money and you say that's laughable. ?
02 Jul 2025 18:55:47
Not spending the money is my issue. Tens of millions in the bank should be utilised for a better product on park. Not rocket science.
{Ed007's Note - If Celtic get all the players they want in and have made money what's wrong with that, and what if the player we want doesn't take a big transfer fee like KT or Nygren, is that good business or the boards unwillingness to spend money in your opinion?
Again, all you seem to be saying is we should be spending money on players simply because we've got it sitting there and there's obviously a ceiling of what Celtic will or can realistically pay in transfer fees and wages.
I've said it for years, I have no problem with the amount Celtic spend on transfers & wages - it's the way they've spent it that's caused issues. I'd much rather be in our position than needing to sell players to keep the lights on and scrambling to meet FSR Regs etc like a lot of even the "big" clubs are needing to do.
Wasn't there a report a few months back that said we are the best ran club in the UK, and isn't our entire player trading model based on selling a players for a big fee and using that to get 2/3 players to strengthen across the squad?}
02 Jul 2025 20:13:00
Auf1888return, Your moan and negativity isn’t backed up with facts . We have won 14 out off the last 15 SPL titles. League Cups and Scottish Cups, doubles and trebles so often that our neutral Scottish Sports journalists are bored with success . Added to our untouchable Domestic Success we are also showing improvement in the Champions League . The consistency of our success can only be achieved by quality coaching and regular buying quality players in transfer window .
Our consistent winning of trophies over the last 20 yrs or is unprecedented and wouldn’t be possible without buying the right players to fit our system whether very expensive ( for us ) or very ( cheap for us ) .
02 Jul 2025 21:58:31
Every buisness needs to make a profit or it's game over. Celtic are run superbly, of course it must be all Lawwell's fault that we are run so well. Pesky Lawwell!
03 Jul 2025 08:04:42
Celtic has to be run like a business and has to break even. We are a football club and not a bank. Celtic plc job is to have the best team it can have on the park.
Unbelievable the amount of board lackeys that go on about money. ITS A FOOTBALL CLUB.
03 Jul 2025 16:45:16
It's a buisness, it's not a club where everyone pays £2 a week to play and everyone takes a turn at taking the strips home to wash them. We became a buisness in 1897?.
