Reading that our manager still wants 3/ 4 new players which is good to hear.
But if going by previous years it will mean 1 or 2 of our star players leaving to fund it (our Board rarely dip into our bank balance)
Kuhn looks like the first to go with talk of a £15m move (although that figure is low in my book)
It's the other big name to leave I am worried about as Pedro may tell Nicholson to sell Maeda while his profile is high and bank another £20m.
28 Jun 2025 13:46:49
It still astounds me that people still think Lawwell has any say in any football matters at the club.
In regards to Kuhn, it's been well reported on here and other sites that he demanded a move in January and wasn't happy when he was told he wouldn't be going anywhere until the summer.
If any other player and I don't care who they are has angled, hinted or demanded a move then they should be punted ASAP.
28 Jun 2025 13:49:53
In recent years the better players we have sold have demanded a move . Board will sell if valuation is met .
If BR suggests we sell Maeda, Board must release him on health grounds .
As far as I know BR wants to be successful as Celtic Manager, a successful and sane manager wouldn’t contemplate forcing best player to leave .
I wouldn’t pay much attention to what’s available for us to read, even some of the rubbish on other Celtic forums and by Celtic bloggers which is very often taken from Sevco’s SMSM.

jonbhoy I it still astounds ME that people think Pedro is NOT still involved.
Nicholson is just a puppet worked by Lawwell
I am 100% convinced Pedro IS still calling some transfer shots.
28 Jun 2025 15:58:42
He always posts the same nonsense jonbhoy. Then usually defends it with he was fishing for bites.
28 Jun 2025 18:18:53
@Dc first of all thanks for reading all my posts
But I do my fishing over on the sevvie page
But I get this all the time a newbie trying to make a name at my expense and failing
But please keep reading my posts.
{Ed007's Note - You're probably one of the few people left that still believe Lawwell controls who we buy and who we sell, there is absolutely no evidence to back it up.}
28 Jun 2025 18:51:24
Behave Tim
If Lawwell was calling the shots, we wouldn't have signed a 21yr old for £11m and a 20yr old for £9m.
You don't half do some amount of havering.
28 Jun 2025 19:34:03
It was a rumour when Lawwell was our Chief Executive that he got himself involved in the football side of our club.
I didn’t dismiss the rumour when Brendan was first at Celtic.
But there no way Brendan would come back to a club if any such amateur stuff was being allowed to happen.
{Ed007's Note - Any explanation of the role of a non-executive chairman puts the whole notion to bed, that's probably why Lawwell dragged Keevins out his bed to tear him a strip for saying it on Clyde - there would be ramification regarding corporate governance if a non-executive director was interfering in other aspects of the business.}

Newbie? I remember when you first start posting on here mate.
28 Jun 2025 19:50:53
It doesn’t really make a lot of sense that Celtic pay Nicholson the most money of our Directors and then allow him to do nothing as P L earns the minimum that Celtic pay a Director and have him serve the tea and biscuits as well as do the arduous CEO work .
I always want to respect my elders and hate to show him by disrespect by disagreeing, however on this one occasion I am afraid he is not right.
28 Jun 2025 20:24:53
BR is on record that he spoke directly to DD about a new contract for Maeda.
Fed up reading about how lawell controls everything.
As someone mentioned it’s driven by sub standard bloggers.
One of them has today started his usual moaning about lack of transfers and the window is only open a couple of weeks! .
We have signed two starters already.
Very confident we will have a good window and players who have grown board of wearing the hoops can go.
Rant over?.
28 Jun 2025 20:55:17
We need a good window shouldn't be an option, we made plenty money we should invest again wisely, we have done for many years now and I can't see the board doing otherwise, seems slow but if we still have a week before the a actual window opens then we should all hang fire, for a week at least.

The problem is the perception that Lawell has “influence” will always exist as long as he is in the building. If Nicholson wasn’t a Trappist monk and actually fuckin spoke to Celtic fans, we may be more amicable towards him!
Didn’t Lawell butt in when Nicholson was asked a direct question at the AGM?
Nicholson could be a financial genius, but we will never know because he never tells us anything, EVER!
{Ed007's Note - Nicholson doesn't need to be a financial genius, that's why we have Chris McKay as CFO, he'll have more of a say in who we sign than Lawwell as he's the man that balances the books.
I agree with about Nicholson's Mr Invisible act and some of the stuff he has came out with is "questionable", especially about the GB and the treatment of our wider support but not every CEO loves the limelight on them a la Lawwell, we should at least get a puff piece with Gerry McCulloch at the start & end of every season imo.
See when these conversations come up - every feckin' transfer window may I add - I always say, what more do people want, look at the success & money Celtic have and yes a lot of that is down to us the support but a Hell of a lot of it is down to the board and the decisons they've made. Have they made mistakes, of course they have but hopefully some of them have been rectified especially around recruitment.
Technically KT & Nygren aren't our players until July 1st, I've made my feelings known about KT but those are 2 cracking signings before the window is even open.
This is why I HATE the transfer windows, I seen someone on social media saying Nygren is a typical Celtic signing going for the cheap option, he's one of the most exciting signings we've made in years imo and I can't wait to see him in the Hoops.
Anything we have to moan about is in the past and as a great man once told me "Don't look back, you aren't going that way." ?
28 Jun 2025 22:14:52
Just wish the club as a whole would communicate better. Sometimes get the impression that we are tolerated and seen as an inconvenience to the grand plan. Would it be so difficult for the people at the top to at least give the people at the bottom an idea of their vision for the future. Don’t expect tablets of stone but would like to hear more than feck all.
{Ed007's Note - I totally agree with you mate, give the support some insight into the vision etc the board have for the Club. Without throwing JP Taylor under the bus even an interview with him from the fan groups?
29 Jun 2025 00:07:34
Most issues with the board aren’t about transfer windows. It’s probably frustration over total lack of engagement with the support . Nicholsons problem as a CEO is that to form a proper opinion and appraisal of his position you need information as to what he is doing/ thinking. Anyone got anything? Until you have a gauge, what are the support to make of him. Reasonable success is expected, not entitled, due to our financial advantage that does come about indirectly from he fans
Might as well made Aggie the tea lady CEO on a £50 bonus coz no idea what’s going on or if we’d notice. If Nicholson doesn’t like being in the public domain, why is he in the post. At least Lawell, marmite, was making himself known on the wider stage. If Nicholson went to a UEFA meeting, their staff would be in a panic trying to find someone to do sign language for him.

As a business we are a PLC with appropriate governance and strategic oversight in line with our PLC obligations and audit committee guidelines.
PL as NED of Celtic PLC Boars, albeit, as Chairman will officially have no involvement in “day to day” running of the business. That is not up for debate.
Could PL and other people not officially part of the day to day running of the business at Celtic having “influence” on those who do, that is possible. Indeed it is widely accepted that our major shareholder (DD) has stepped in more that once to appoint managers. governance wise the selection of key personnel would and could only be made by the CEO or his delegates.
Hopefully, I am not conflicting the main point I’m endeavouring to make…. it’s not unusual for Chairman, especially when they are ex CEO’s or major shareholders exerting influence day to day business.
To be clear I have no doubting that PL plays by the rules and is a high performing Chairman who is the leading contributor for our tip top financial position over the past 10 years. I also have no clue what influence he holds at Celtic.

A good CEO is seen and not heard .
There are only two types of CEOs who court public attention.
One type is the person who just loves to hear himself/ herself talking .
The 2nd type is the one who either through lack of his/ her ability or another reason is CEO of a struggling club . This person or his company think it’s important for CEO to create as positive a picture as possible of distressed company, to counteract all the negatives that are around.
