Is mental we haven't had at least 1 midfielder signed (ignoring Ox free signing) as we are defintely losing Arne and Hetate, clubs will ask for more now its poor transfer planning, unless they use a chunk for a better established player which i doubt very much but we will see.

We're now extremely light in midfield if Engels leaves. There's no power in the middle of the park at all. I've been critical of him but he was huge for dragging us over the line last year, we need quality to be added and quickly. Not just Baur, if that's actually happening.

Engels is by far the best midfielder at the club. The rest for me are easily replaceable.
Even if we sign Baur we need someone big and strong that can provide the defence with the much needed help it will need especially if we don’t upgrade the centre backs.

Always hoped we would go in for Toni Fruk as Engels replacement. Felt he was more like for like with MoR when he left and suggested him back then. But seems Hull are in talks with him now. Midfield needed some serious work this summer and losing Engels leaves it looking even worse days before we start our league campaign.
For me we need 3 new starting midfielders. A CDM, CAM and a box to box player. Baur looks to be Reo's replacement we now need to get in Engels replacement and fast and we need a CDM in before the playoff game. I'm hoping with the money from Engels sale it will speed up a lot of the transfer business.

Weenie, why would you hope Nygren goes? he was our top goal scorer from midfield who contributed massively towards us winning league, ok might not have the engine n work rate that people like but for the money he’s an excellent buy, for what we’ve got in midfield he’d been mu 1st name on team sheet.

A shame to see Engels leave. He completely changed the dynamic of our midfield and was arguably the best player in our run to win last season once he came back from injury. We need Baur in to compete but we need another true Champion's League ready player.

If we sell Engels and don't reinvest the lot back into improving the starting 15, then we could be in serious bother.
I'd like to see the deals for Baur and Hassan finalised and then bids made for Mawanhise, Braga and a CDM next week.
At the same time Hatate will likely leave and players like Bernardo, Balikawasha and a few others are not getting a look in, move them on.

Completely agree with Troy colour Nygren might not be fast or make runs but knows his position well is always in the right place at the right time.
Also West hams put two bids in for engels and they got rejected, we need two midfielders a right winger n two CBS also would like to see another left winger and back up keeper.

Celtic are apparently holding out for £25m for Engels, if we get that we should raid Bodo Glimt for Patrik Berg, Jens Peter Hauge and Fredrik Bjorkan with the £25m and that would be LB, DM and LW sorted, that would only leave a GK, CB and RW, and Mika Baur and Fares Gjdemis would be good, then sell Kenny, Bernardo, Montgomery Hatate and Balikwisha for what we can get for them.

My view is Ferry, Braga and Maswaniahe would all be good additions but not for regular 1st team positions.
We need better especially for Europe.
Maybe they can improve further but I’ve not seen them against decent European opponents to say they can.
