Guys reporting that he has heard "whispers" that Board will announce record profits next week, talk is £100m in bank

Only people these profits help is Nicholson Lawwell etc with Big Bonuses

Surely in January they MUST spend SOME of it.

Can’t see it being £100 million in bank but should be a decent increase on last year. Think we need to remember we did splash the cash a bit on Engles/ Trusty/ Idah.

{Ed007's Note - Also remember that only 2 board members get bonuses and neither of them are called Lawwell.}

Hi Ed, do you not think that Lawwell gets a bonus based on financial grounds rather than football type bonus’ like cups or leagues or similar? Even if the amount in the bank is £75m that’s quite impressive for a football club these days.

{Ed007's Note - It would be in the accounts mate, we can see where every penny coming into and the odd penny leaving from the accounts. Only Nicholson as CEO & McKay as CFO get bonuses. That's one of the things I keep asking on the podcast, what is the point of storing money? We can argue about VFM with Nicholson & McKay etc but nobody is taking what I would call serious money out of Celtic, DD is down millions between what he's spent on shares and taken in salary/dividends, he'll only make serious money if he sells, the board are all on what seems a bit like standard money for a company the size of Celtic, there's nobody squiralling away millions to an offshore account or investment companies in Delaware.
I honestly think it's a mixture of fear and incompetence, I'd be sacred to be in charge of Celtic having £100m+ in the bank, what if I spent it and made a Jimmy Hunt of it, what if we built the hotel etc and it was a financial disaster (like another lockdown) etc etc and also I would be incompetent as well because it's a job miles above anything I've ever done or had experience of - I really do think that's what it's down to and it's up to DD to get people in place who aren't scared to make decisions and are at the least,competent at their job.

That’s a different level of job and the personnel needed for it in football terms could be very niche.

I'm sure I read that lawwell tripled his wages this year when he got a raise.

I really think there’s fans out there that believe there not buying strips and tickets so the board can’t pocket the money, and it’s so far from the truth, if club is run amazingly and successfully as is the general consensus than for me listening to br and finding a cohesion with the football side is what’s required, board members that are for the football side alongside the business heads, budgets along with all football decisions lie with that element (accountable) while the current ones who clearly for one reason or another don’t want football accountability can concentrate on the rest of the pennies.

I think you’ve hit it on the head with incompetence Ed. I don’t even think it’s incompetence from a slagging perspective, these guys just aren’t the right guys to take the club any further forward. The bank balance is great, the performance over the years has been good, the manager (whether people like it or not) is top class in terms of his CV. etc. etc. But the one question I ask is where we differentiate ourselves or where we’re revolutionary to some degree. Domestically we reign supreme but compared to some other clubs less wealthy we lack a wee bit of intelligence or strategy. These guys don’t have that pedigree or experience and if they’re honest to themselves then they’ll surround themselves with people who do. The B team is a waste of space, our social media team doesn’t even rank in the top 100 clubs in Europe, the technology and systems like CelticTV are antiquated, their public image, PR and relationship with the supporters is a joke. Don’t get me wrong there’s a number of positives but they need to start getting people in to help fix the negatives…. Or they need to step aside and bring in someone who can.

{Ed007's Note - ??

Ed or anybody else: you see all this money in the bank? Even if we wanted to, could we spend it all? Does PSR mean that we would need to have made that money within the past 3 seasons? I'm not even sure that reads right but it makes sense in my head.
