Why should we pay more than we think a player is worth? Transfermarkt values him at £1m, £5m seems insane for a guy who has played 100 games in 7 years for teams in Norway and Sweden.

I can understand us, and any club, trying to drive a price down. But what really annoys me is how much we value players in compared to players out. So we value Kuhn at 17m, but his replacement at 2.6m. Any club will struggle to move forward like that and it's too often the case.

I would be surprised if any successful club made an opening bid of much if any over 50% of initial asking price. That is standard practice in buying and selling players.
