The rumours were true about the AJ injury being worse than first feared and he will now be out for a longer period.
One year ago yesterday AJ picked up his original hamstring injury.
Since then AJ has only played 34 minutes more for Celtic than he has for his National team.
A couple of months later he pulled up again in the Europa League.
So in the last 10 months AJ has only played 8 minutes more for Celtic than he has for Canada.

Likw every supporter, I do hope AJ gets back fit and well as soon as is possible, but clearly that will be two significant periods of playing time missed through injury.

I would have sold him last summer when his value was high or when Everton came in this summer. Now we are stuck with a depreciating asset who is going to be hard to sell for big money. Same happened with Maeda and hatate, neither was sold at their peak value.

When he came back with AE, that is when we started to improve and ended with a double.
Just because he is injured again, we need to get rid of him or should have got rid of him last season.
It's unbelievable, at the start of the window, people on here were saying we can't sell him, he is a potential future captain, now he's injured we want rid of him.
Donovan played well midweek but he is nowhere near AJ's level yet. He hasn't got the final ball when he overlaps and he still makes wrong decisions.
On his day AJ is a world class right back but wanting him sold because he has an injury setback is laughable.

Joe we don’t want an injured player that’s a given, but sometimes the value in keeping players out weighs there selling price, hetate is prime example that your correct but on other hand maeda i would have kept for season and let go for free if he was willing to.
This clubs gets labelled as selling assets or downsizing of squad etc but that’s doesn’t fit the narrative that we’ve done something wrong keeping players (or not selling straight away)

I said last year he should have been sold. As players get older they often pick up more injuries and their performance starts to decline. A club with a good sports science and data analytics team will now when that is and you get rid of them ideally before that becomes an issue.
Sadly we didn't do it with a number of players, probably because our recruitment was so bad and they wouldn't have been able to find suitable replacements. As a result we missed out on selling 4 players at their peak value, 2 of them are now long term injury concerns, 1 of them got sold at a reduced fee and was honking for most of the season and the other has slumped and devalued.
It is ok to admit that the board got it badly wrong last season and some lessons have not been learned.

Aj is only 26 deary me his best years in front of him and am delighted he's staying obviously not the injury, and when fit will have plenty suitors, iam no board apologist but when they sell our best players they get stick and when they keep them they're getting stick, for once we're replacing with quality and that's the difference and credit to them.

There’s not a person on planet that can’t say board had a stinker, I’m not sure not selling aj reo Maeda falls under the stinker bracket at any time, you’ll say sell bring in replacements, Joe all signings are risks, replacements don’t always work and I’m pretty sure the 3 managers we had last season would have not sold all 3,
Joe I can’t help feel your waiting for a failed signing, poor result, injury to player, any other standard part of any football club where something happened that you’d prob prefer didn’t just to have a moan and a go,
At no point have you considered wether the club manager players consent in the apparent missed opportunity to sell these players occurred, or if there was offers, the only real sense to any of them was keeping maeda against his will, but rotten for most season or not I’m not swapping him or the moments he gave at end for anything.

We can’t sell everyone and then moan about lack of ambition. Timing is important in selling valuable assets to continue to progress but others may need to be kept in order to keep some continuity in the team. Players values to the team can’t always be measured pounds.

We probably wouldn't have been in the position if we had sold the players and got good replacements in but that would have required the board to do their job competently.
Maeda, AJ, CCV and hatate offered very little for most of the season. If they had been sold and replaced in a timely fashion, then we likely beat karate and avoid all the disharmony.

He wanted to go and his performances were shocking for most of the season. Was stupid not to well him, it cost us a champions league spot and a class manager and nearly cost us the league.
