The negativity on this site is unbelievable.

Do I think nancys the man for the job?
For me the jury's still out but I've seen some encouraging signs in our attacking play and defensively we still look dodgy but let's see how it is at the end of the window.

We have people complaining about
Winning 4-2 at livi a ground we've always struggled at what's that about?

We've got people complaining about the manager playing people out of position but conveniently forget rogers playing calmac at fb or mj as striker.

If and it's a big the recruitment is right in January then we can judge him
Until then get behind the man for gods sake.

Unfortunately the negativity has been ground into many of us not just about the appointment and record of Nancy, but by a Board's continued incompetence and neglect of the football side of our club.
They have demonized supporters groups amid dubious accusations sabotaging the AGM to escape accountability for a serious of poor transfer windows, unbalance recruitment and wasted money. You just have to look at the current squad to see the neglect and poor judgement while they hoarded so much, they had to pay £12m tax.

Wilfried Nancy may hopefully come good but the timing of his appointment added to the disruptive transition and initial results hasn't helped and that again is down to our Board's absurd timing. MON was prepared to see out the season and that would have allowed the new manager a pre-season with possibly 2 'windows'?

I didn't see anyone complaining about winning. I saw people complaining about our defence, his formation and his player choice though.

29 Dec 2025 12:51:48
His formation and player choice got 3 points and scored 4 goals.

29 Dec 2025 12:58:41
But one of the problems within our support
While they rightly criticised the board for being
Happy to stay one step ahead of the other lot
They also expect instant success with any new manager ( I'm guilty of it myself) and new ideas.

Unfortunately we are seen by managers without
A Celtic connection as a stepping stone to the epl . so like it or not mangers like the bodo manager and there's at similar clubs feel we're a sideways step so unfortunately we are left
At looking at managers who're are either looking like Brendan was at rebuilding their reputation or managers who are seen as potential epl managers in the future .

That's unfortunately the way things are in my opinion and while nancys credentials don't
On paper look good he appears to be regarded
As a good forward thinking coach.
And only time and backing will tell if he's a dud or a diamond.

And with quite a lot within our support your seen as a happy clapper or a panty wetter (depending on who's flavour of the month) if you don't agree with their views I'm not sure he'll get that time.

29 Dec 2025 12:58:56
Agree with you Celtic_mad,

at the same time there is always a period of transition when any new manager arrives at a club.

I was taken aback as much as anyone on this forum watching our play in those first 4 games, nevermind the results.

Given the players Nancy has inherited and the difference in styles to the previous two managers this season, I think we're seeing improvements in the last two games.

There is a glut of players currently at CP who are nowhere near good enough to be in the first 15 let alone starting, and once they're replaced, I'd hope we'll see more improvement in our play both defensively and at the top end of the pitch.

Time will tell but he needs a chance.

"We have people complaining about
Winning 4-2 at livi a ground we've always struggled at what's that about? "

I think losing two goals in the first ten minutes against the worst team in the league is what is worrying fans. What will a good side do to our defence?

We have to stop conceding so many goals, especially while our forwards are scorning so many scoring chances.

29 Dec 2025 13:13:08
Are you happy with the state of our defending? See how happy you are when we play a half decent team! In reference to you mr point about Rodgers, most are also happy that Rodgers is gone.

29 Dec 2025 13:25:56
Our defending is down to the players on the park.

Personally, given Nancy plays 3 at the back, in an ideal world, Ralston wouldn't even get a seat in the stand, Trusty would be on the bench and KT would be the flip of a coin as to whether he makes the starting 11.

29 Dec 2025 16:06:13
Pedro I was thinking the same thing most of the players we have at the moment that are fit aren't good enough I would say particularly Ralston and Kenny each time they are on the pitch together I think we are playing with 9 men. But sadly injuries force us to use them.

29 Dec 2025 16:32:35
We have scales, Murray and Pudsey, so no excuse for playing Ralston at CB.

{Ed007's Note - But Nancy doesn't want CBs in those 2 wide CB positions - that's where the problem lies, KT gets away with it a bit more because he's used to the defensive side of playing there but he's been just as poor as Ralston positioning wise. Scales & Murray would struggle just as much in this formation.
We basically play with 1 CB, Trusty.}

29 Dec 2025 16:56:25
100% Ed, the issue is we arguably don't have a CB currently on the books that ticks all the boxes.

If he had a CB that could do everything I imagine that Nancy is looking for (which is a stretch tbf) then AJ would be on the right and KT/ Sarrachi on the left.

IMHO, the CB and one of the other two defenders should always be providing the defensive cover when we're attacking up the pitch, as oppossed to only one of the back three aa that'swhen we've been caught on the counter attack.

Better cover and tracking back from our wingers would also help going forward, Maeda can do that in his sleep, Yang doesn't have that defensive sense yet.

{Ed007's Note - Yang, who has done well as an attacker, is another player who's being asked to do stuff outside his natural skillset and everything he's learnt about playing as a winger. Ralston has spent his entire career learning to play as a RB so could probably do better at RWB, even playing as A normal CB I think Ralston could cope with that but Nancy has thrown him - and Yang - under the bus. Our right hand side has 2 players playing out of their natural position, they're struggling with their positioning when it comes to defending and the manager persists with choosing them while sticking to his guns with his system that is obviously not working with our available players.}

29 Dec 2025 19:34:02
It doesn't matter what anyone says we don't have the players to play that formation, why can't the manager see that, also how many players are we going to have bring in to play it, we're no the best at that either.

Yes the team won 4-2 against livi but against Motherwell n the monkeys it will be diff, monkeys I know are poor but if I was them if u keep at tight at back against us they will have chances.

{Ed007's Note - In the modern game of stats and analytics etc surely Ampadu and Strachan are pointing out the deficiencies in the system, is Nancy just ignoring them?
If Nancy is this forward thinking, modern, revolutionary tactician surely with a tweak here & there he can sort it out at least until he can get players we have up to speed or we get players in who are capable of doing the required job.}

29 Dec 2025 19:50:39
Nancy gives me the fear ed. ?.

{Ed007's Note - He's just out of his depth but we need to back the guy while he's here and for a lot of fans he's already on borrowed time, the next 2 games are crucial for him to try and build some momentum between now and the end of the season. The Motherwell game is a bigger potential banana skin for me than the Derby.}

29 Dec 2025 20:05:58
100% ed if he's that good and systems that good why is not an easy fix, cause it's no, I said after hearts game mcinnes gave every manager in league blue print to beat, it's no hard quick pass into huge gaps.

{Ed007's Note - ??

29 Dec 2025 20:54:21
Totally agree guys. If he had come in and just tweaked things a little because of the players at his disposal, I would get right behind him, but even though he said he would do that he hasn't, he has come in and thrown many players under the bus with this chaotic football.

Most of our players have a specific skillset based on 1 position and this guy has just pushed them out of their comfort zone and out of position.

It isn't as simple as just learning a new position, these guys have played that way since they were kids.

Anyone happy with conceding as many goals as we do, as long as we win need to have a look at themselves.

We won 4-2 against a poor team, who could have scored 3 or 4 in the 2nd half.

AR, AT and even KT look right out of sorts, they know they are one pass away from carnage. A missed pass and we are under siege at the back against any team.

Sinsalo and KS are now key to building attacks and neither is really comfortable in that role. Their passing puts us under pressure and brings the opposition onto us.

If this guy was a modern manager with fresh ideas, he would not be here. He is a one trick pony that will have us playing this hit or miss football till the end of the season and beyond.

He knows no other way and has already said, its not about winning.

I would love to get behind him but what I see on the field puts the fear into me. Teams with better forwards than Livi will punish us.
