Afternoon all,
Long time supporter but first time posting on here.
I have seen some sections of the support demanding answers from the board on what I agree was a disgraceful transfer window.
My concern with going after the board is that BR is escaping this completely.
This started at the end of last season. Inability to put teams away.
Aberdeen cup final
The team put out in champions league qualifiers should have won without breaking a sweat.
We should have beaten Sevco easily as well.
BR is a 3 season manager at best and every where he manages the same drop off occurs.
We have not beaten Sevco in the last 4 meetings? Meaning BR has been out managed by Barry Ferguson and now RM.
Last time around BR was out managed by Gerrard (World class manager there! )
Apologies if have missed someone else pointing this out but why would the board back BR? He has had the money.
Engels record signing on the bench
Trusty on the bench
Idah well less said about him the better.
Plus BR won't commit his future past the end of this season.
BR is deliberately driving a wedge between fans and board.
I feel our style of football now has become stale and predictable. Sideways, backwards and playing in front of teams.
I feel the fans should be asking BR to explain this lack of intensity. We have the squad to easily beat teams but couldn't score against Sevco when everyone else is?
Surely the time is right to save the money for a more progressive manager to come in next season.

I've been saying this all summer?.
04 Sep 2025 17:37:16
Both are in wrong but if maeda had scored the sitters he missed in cup final both kairat legs and the a disgraceful penalty things could have been so different . but he didn't and both are still at fsult.

The lack of intensity is due to having our goalscorers sold and not replaced apart from pushing a 35 year old squad player into the team and a Japanese guy who scored two goals last season.
We as a club did not back BR in year 3 during his first stint with us.
In his second stint we have only backed him in year two as the first window and the one just closed were a disaster.
04 Sep 2025 18:10:21
The lack of intensity is due to passing the ball backwards!

Nobody is exonerating Brendan Rodgers - he could get football banned and the man speaks with forked tongue- but more are just able to see the bigger picture and where the greater guilt lies.
Ask yourself this question and you’ll get you’re answer - could Pep Guardiola take Celtic to the next level and make the club the best version of of itself it could be under the current board with Michael Nicholson as CEO and DD calling the shots?
There is none as blind as those who refuse to see.

Why is it all of a sudden a big issue that we’re passing the ball backwards?
It could be Celtic are missing playing with an inverted fullback which helped the midfielders
OR
Maybe if we had better players like Jota, Khun, Abada, Kyogo or Giakoumakis making forward runs or finding space, we wouldn’t be forced to keep possession and pass backwards as much.
It’s the same Management team that has won 4 of the last 6 domestic cups and got out of the CL Group stage last season.

Unfortunately even when Kyogo was here many of his and Maeda's runs were missed or ignored with the back four and even wingers choosing far too often the safe and predictable sideways tap. Another problem is the amount of passes we take to move very short distances. Then there are players who compulsively see the need to play constantly through the captain, thus passing the buck and slowing the game down. The manager always publicly advocates slick, quick play, but this does not transfer onto the pitch far too often.

Aye that’s right bhoy88.
You clearly know nothing about football.
If the lions had sold Lennox, Johnston and chalmers would they have been as efficient up front.
Clueless.

Watched brendans interview with celtic tv after sevco game, he was asked about the new winger and he said quote" he needs to start taking a man on but that will come " there is no way our wingers are being asked not to take men on, they're just not good enough at the minute, did jota take men on last season did khun did maeda, yang and forrest have been used more than ever and that's the problem, quality, there's no doubt we've been poor but when did you ever see mcgregor or hatate so poor and at the same time, let's hope the break brings some freshness.

I cringe whenever I hear " we got out the CL group stage" we were 21st out of 24 chances. Only because of the new format we got to the next round where you'd need to be the worst team in CL history not to get out of the League phase.
04 Sep 2025 20:08:17
Why would you cringe.
A club from Scotland getting into the knockout stages of the CL for the first time in over a decade is an outstanding achievement, regardless of what format it is.
I will predict right now that No Scottish club will manage it over the next decade.

Maybe didn't back Rodgers 3rd season previously cause they knew he wanted out as proved, I mean who leaves a team cantering the league 7/ 7 trophies in February for the mighty Leicester city - fast forward 5+ half year + we are here again.
04 Sep 2025 20:39:15
Suppose leipzig never happened or going toe to toe with bayern never happened or atalanta away, but then that was under brendans watch.
04 Sep 2025 20:43:29
Bhoy88 must be one of them in disguise. Either that or he's completely deluded. Whatever it is I'm not going to engage anymore. He's just looking for a rise.
04 Sep 2025 20:54:14
He left mid season in part because the board never invested in Timothy Castagne, Justin James and John McGinn.
All of those went on to be worth multi million pounds which have benefited Celtic through sales in addition to giving us a better chance at champions league qualification.
The board preferred Shved and Mulumbu.
The lack of vision and ambition then is being played out again.
Go figure.

Donegalpol
I gave up a while ago.
04 Sep 2025 21:24:29
Donegalpol,
Likewise…. He can’t be that bad…. Got to be at it.
Don’t mind genuine debate but he’s got to be taking the pi## with his mutterings.

North18Q who's goals have we lost? The best since Larsson has scored once in 7 months! Kuhn played well for a wee while. I've said before it's Liel Abada that hasn't been replaced not Kuhn!
Donegal if you can't handle a healthy debate don't engage just skip past my posts or don't reply.
Buzz I get what you're saying but if the CL was still played under the old format we'd have got ko'd at the group stages. We finished 21st out of 24 places with a point to spare. We played well against Bayern granted?.

Boy 88
We lost three forward players to sales and one to injury.
If you can’t count I suggest you should spend some time getting a basic education instead of attempting to convince yourself you know about football.
I am joining the lengthy list of guys on the forum who ignore you.
Away back to follow follow.

The Lions best 3 of Johnstone Chalmers and Lennox were not the best 3 at the club at that time
So we can change Mc Bride who was far superior than Chalmers and had scored more goals by Christmas than Chalmers
We can’t compare selling Johnstone to selling Kuhn, who was with our club 18 mths and he played well for middle 6 mths
. People who talk about Kyogo are referring to his first 2 years goal scoring which was very good . However his last 18 mths were completely different and I am sure any half decent striker of ours this season will out score Kyogo’s third season .
By the way many fans thought Jock Stein over eagerness to move players on stopped Celtic from winning more in 1960’s/ 70’s.
05 Sep 2025 10:43:18
North18Q replying to me isn't ignoring me. The fact you resort to insults tells me you can't hold a debate with someone. I assume the 3 forwards you mean are Kyogo who has scored once in seven months, Kuhn who played well for a wee while and Idah who hadn't scored this season for us?

It is claimed we only backed him in year 2 . If that is the case, that proves that while BR mat claim he is very good at coaching and developing players he is very poor at recognising a player suitable for Celtic .
Surely a player signed in the summer transfer window 24/ 25 should be improved by start of season 25/ 26.
Let’s see how well the out-field players BR signed off in summer 24 are doing in season 25/ 26 . Trusty, Engels, Bernardo, Idah Mc Cowan, all should be heading for their peak but none of them are ist team starters this season . . Hence we needed a better window this summer but that wasn’t possible because BR doesn’t recognise a decent player and he wouldn’t give up having final say.
